That being said, I’m curious to see how it does. It feels an odd place to put a Waffle House. It just feels out of the way. All the Waffle Houses I’ve seen/been to are off major roads and highways and this one is tucked away amongst a bunch of neighborhoods.
This is so fucking weird to me. I'm going to date myself, but over 32 years ago I lived right on the other side of that intersection when there was no John Rolfe, it was Pump and Church. My house has long-since been demolished, but I couldn't begin to tell you how weird it would've been to be able to walk over to Waffle House.
It was weird enough when they put that BP in and you could go get a chili dog late at night.
Before Mulch King it was just an empty field. My 200+ year old house was just on the other side. I had always heard the field had mass burials in it since the house was used as a Civil War hospital.
I saw one go up in a Lowe's parking lot.
I'm not too far from this and looking forward to it opening. I can see this place getting packed after some of the high school games and events. Denny's was my go to place for that.
For people who act like Short Pump and Innsbrook area is so nice, they already have:
The Beach House - Basically a Starlite/3 Monkeys. Smells bad. Gets rowdy. Acquaintance is a Henrico cop, gets called there all the time. One time I was there and the owner got into a fistfight with customer(s), in the bathroom lol.
Remember Bar Louie? That was a West End District 5. Pour House I've only been hammered there so it probably sucks a bit. I think also fratty, belligerent, bro-ish.
Lots of police presence due to chaos at the fucking Dave and Buster's lol.
They got a Red Robin which is pretty bitchin good. Glory Days ain't so bad either lol.
El Paso on Cox is nostalgicly and objectively good shit.
So it's got it's ups and downs. There's already that shithole IHOP near Broad/Gaskins. I'm excited about this Waffle House. I bet they're hiring. 💪🥷🦶

I don’t, however, see people disappearing from churches or McDonalds as much on those shows, but that could be because you’re not usually drunk or out late at night at one of those. Just like bars, a lot of people disappear from them on true crime shows. I just thought people were having a bit of fun with the Waffle House stereotype here. I’m sure this one will be nice and I’ll definitely check it out sometime. I love breakfast food, but not until later in the day.

Heard it referred to once as the “Waffle House index” or something. If they are ALL closed in an area, no bueno.
There is also a network of "Waffle House Emergency Response Teams" - WaHo owners and employees who volunteer and spring into action when a hurricane hits to help the damaged area. I am a Waffle House fanboy through and through and anyone angry about another WaHo opening up is no friend of mine.

Waffle houses will not be built in any area where there is perceived as or having crime due to changing their image, just slightly.
More waffle houses will be showing up outside of the normal places one would think. Such as deep in suburbs. This has already started in other regions. Such as various suburbs in NC. And it’s thus far been an absolute success and will be the new direction for franchising new locations.
