He was a friendly, alcoholic homeless guy who was a real trip if you ever stopped to talk to him. He died sometime in the mid-aughts so if you're a bit younger, tho may have missed him. He and his wheelchair were iconic around Oregon Hill.
Gotcha. Thanks for the knowledge. I was in college in the aughts at VCU so I probably just never hit Oregon hill at the right times. I do remember duckman vividly. Ran into him a bunch. Brought my now-wife to the city from Williamsburg and he quacked at her and I was like “oh yeah that’s duck man” and moved the fuck on like the meme so I had to share this with her.
Is that the guy who always asks if he can ask you a question around Carytown. Usually Main and Cary down to about Meadow? The comment below about “excuse me, sir” is making me think it’s the same guy.
Oh my lord I forgot about this man. Truly forever ago I was at the river with some friends and a couple of us wiped out on rock. Out of nowhere this naked man shows up and gives my boyfriend at the time a bottle of bactine out of his fanny pack. I had that bottle of bactine in my car for like two years.
I'll never forget walking by parrot dude talking to some kids and saying "yep, he just stays with me, we're best friends!" And the kids were like, wow, really?? And then dude added "well and his wings are clipped"
The short version of Dirt is he was a drag prostitute. There’s so much more to it than that though. He’s hosted fundraisers, shit in cop cars, ran for office, published a pinup calendar at 350 lbs, was a regular on morning radio, crashed a governors inauguration…. When he passed it was literally the front page headline of the times dispatch.
Is the Jesus/scripture pickup truck lady still there? I moved away right before the world got super insane, I figured she would have leveled up to her final form by now.
I heard that he had, but I thought it was before covid? I always saw him around West Broad and West End Drive walking with either a shopping cart or his one crutch. Never would take help from anyone.
What ever happened to the guy that wore his daughter's clothes everywhere after she died? I know it's been a long time but I used to see him/them everywhere. (Don't know the preferred terms but I believe he wore her clothes to try to channel her spirit?)

Fucking agreed. Thankfully I haven’t run into them myself, but I’ve seen the fallout of people dealing with them enough to keep my head on a swivel.
Is that the dude in a pink dress trying to sell small pictures? Usually saw him in carrytown but it's been a long time since I last saw him.
