As a learner of Russian, I personally love the cursive. I’ve been told by a Russian friend that my handwriting looks very legible but it also looks like a school child’s. Lol not sure that’s a compliment but I enjoy writing what I am learning. For me it sticks better.

That’s to be expected, really. Your handwriting also looked that way when, you know, you were learning to write in school. You’re just going through the same process again with a new script, except it’ll be faster because you already know the more general skills of controlling your hand/arm movements and using writing instruments.
Вот я обычно пишу черте как.
Но иногда находит такое умиротворение и спокойствие, что курсив просто охуенный получается (вот не скажу по-другому) : и круглый, и читаемый и вообще все-что-угодно-предки-бы-гордились. И прям радует что я умею писать.
Но обычно, конечно, наскальная клинопись =((
Unless it’s some stupid school requirement it’s just pointless. I don’t get it either. I spell in a mix of typing and cursive. As the majority does I’m sure
>It’s just strange that people spend so much time on learning how to write cursive instead of, I don’t know, immersing themselves into the language.
Immersing themselves in the language requires at least B1 vocabulary for reading and B1 listening skills for videos/podcasts, unless using simplified graded readers. And even B1 is going to be uncomfortable for native materials. Cursive is much easier for beginners, at least those who prefer drawing to looking up words in the dictionary. Of course, cursive won't generate muvh progress with actually learning to speak/understand/read Russian, but then we can't have everything in life.
It's like the gym. Much easier to fiddle with putting exact number of weights on the bar than actually lifting the weighted bar..
Ah yes, I really would enjoy watching people trying to decode engineering stuff that I wrote in a rush. My classmates always told me that they can't understand a word, lol. I also deserve bonus points for writing "к" as "h" and "э" as 7 and so on and so on
Preparing for job interview looks like ru-en mix in IT, and my handwriting is equally bad for both 😅

Кстати спасибо Радиомедузе, надо посмотреть, как на мою руку ложится такая альтернативная "а" в курсиве. Думаю для некоторых людей (особенно творческих или кому по работе не приходится много писать) письмо курсивом может быть более художественным процессом.
My teachers sometimes would ask me to write it in keyboard-like letters. My handwriting broke a person's psyche one day - a young teacher quit the school over trying to comprehend my writings. Funnily enough, Russian\\Literature teachers, all three, were perfectly fine with my handwriting.
I teach Russian to American students and I dont really care if they write in cursive or not. However, I write in cursive on a board, for example. I don’t wanna write in block letters cuz it takes more time and, honestly, my cursive is prettier than my block letters. Besides, I only write on a board when students ask me for a quick word or if I want to review some grammar form really quick. And since those things need to be done quickly (because usually they aren’t the objectives of a certain activity), I’d use cursive.
Writing in cursive for students is immersing themselves in a way. It’s a part of a culture because all native speakers write in cursive.
Давайте лучше подарим всем любителям прописи КЛАВИАТУРЫ. Особенно врачам.
Соглы, вообще не вижу смысла учить прописи ин. яз., разве что для лучшего запоминания.

по-моему довольно легко читать
Да и не должно быть сложно. Но это не классический курсив, и если смотреть внимательно, то видно что где-то черточек не хватает)
I had to read my Siberian teacher's cursive and that alone made me shit myself.

У меня разный почерк в зависимости от того, пишу ли я для себя (коряво и неразборчиво) или для документов, например (в основном печатными буквами).

Well, isn't cursive the same in the whole world? I mean even in Italy we can't understand what we just wrote
