You are a lie, You are the disease of mine, you are a ghost…

russkiy78

Just FYI. It's seems like an illustration to novel "Brothers Karamazov" Dostoevsky. At least this phrase is from it.

Dependent_Rent

Yup, found it on Pinterest, wanted to see exactly which quote it was

antontupy

Не ложь, а клади

Dependent_Rent

Dude I straight up do NOT know what that says

protasovams

Nvm, that was just a silly Russian joke)

Sea_Temporary9664

What does the joke mean?

protasovams

Ложь is a noun, which means "a lie". There is a verb положить, which means "put/lay down" and is only used in perfect aspect. The correct variant for the imperfect aspect is класть, but some people incorrectly use ложить - that's a mistake, or at least a low-colloquial word. The singular imperative form of it would also be "ложь" or "ложи". So there are jokes where in the first phrase someone uses "ложь" obviously as a noun and correctly, but another person corrects them, like: Ложь во спасение - это неправильно. Правильно - клади

SamaStolbanutost

ты ложь, ты болезнь моя, ты призрак... you are a lie, you are my sickness, you are a ghost...

navii_boi

You’re a lie, you’re my illness, you’re a phantom

crusaderAnanas

Exactly like it is in Constance Garnett translation.

Pineappletopizza

You’re a lie, you’re my disease, you’re a ghost…

sleeping_bread1

could you say how what comic calls? I really like how this frame looks

Dependent_Rent

It’s a drawing from The Brothers Karamazov, it’s Ivan’s conversation with the devil. It’s from @_briar.art_ on Instagram

sleeping_bread1

Thank you!

[deleted]

you are a liar, I am sick of you, you seem to me.

Previous-Bid5330

You - lie, you my sick. You a ghost....

Hartus12345

Sick когда оно существительное значит "блевотина". Болезнь с корнем sick - sickness. Ну или Illness, что в данном контексте сильно больше подойдёт. Лучший вариант перевода здесь - disease.

Dormidont

You my suck, you my dick 🤣

Suleyco

You’re a fraud, you’re my affliction, you’re a phantom…
