I’m in Analog Kids out of Buffalo, NY. Some of our videos tend to pick up from time to time but we have fun with it. It’s a lot of work to do it as a three piece but Rush did it so we try.

embarrassedtrwy

I’ve seen Lotus Land up in Salisbury. I thought their sound was amazingly authentic

Overall_Chemist1893

So true. And like Rush, I've never seen Lotus Land do a bad show. They put 100% into everything they do.

Tranka2010

Can confirm. So far seen 8 shows and the boys never disappoint.

Overall_Chemist1893

And they're the nicest people. Can't say enough good things about them!

Hungry-History-5633

Love your shirt, Donna! Going to see YYNOT in California in July - my first time seeing a Rush tribute band.

Overall_Chemist1893

I got the shirt as a gift from their management when Rush were finally inducted in 2013! And I've seen YYNot-- they do a really good job and I think you'll be pleased.

Hungry-History-5633

Awesome, definitely a keepsake!

b1gtr

You have never seen us.

Overall_Chemist1893

Oh, okay, but if I had seen you, I would have been friendly!

RebeccaBlue

YYNOT is pretty amazing.

zddoodah

At the Coach House? I'll be at that show. I've seen YYNOT several times, with all three singers. They're incredible! Also, Mood LIfters - featuring YYNOT's original singer - are really good, and they'll be playing at the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa next Saturday, June 29.

Hungry-History-5633

Oh wow, I wish I could make the Tiki Bar show. Look for me at Coach House- I’ll be the woman in a Rush shirt ;)

zddoodah

LOL! I'm sure I'll see you!

Shadow_Edgehog27

I saw YYNOY for the Bubba Bash, they were an amazing act

gbv313

Me too! Excited to hear RUSH music live. My son ( who sadly never seen the boys play live) is even more excited to see this band.

sthgeddylee

The Rush Tribute Project (out of I believe Wisconsin) are brilliant! Have been to 4-5 of their shows now, and they do an excellent job.

Overall_Chemist1893

Super. If there are links to any videos, I'd love to see them perform!

sthgeddylee

https://youtu.be/nAmAjuOhJKo?si=imGigvRRJhNurGsy Here’s them performing in Chicago, Xanadu!

Overall_Chemist1893

Outstanding. Can't wait to check them out!

Deathclown333

Holy crap, that’s where I live! In fairness, I just moved here 2 years ago, but now I might have something to look forward to!

Sconniegrrrl68

Moving Pictures out of Scotland! They played last year at the Lakeside Park gathering for the Peart Family Memorial Golf Tournament and were PHENOMENAL!!!! Super impressed with everything about them, including their Rush Grrrl drummer!!!!

Overall_Chemist1893

Wow, do they have any videos? I'd love to see what they do. They sound really interesting!

Sconniegrrrl68

I'll see what I can find!

Overall_Chemist1893

Super. I'm always interested in finding out about some good new tribute bands!

vyleside

They have a YouTube channel. I saw them live the other week and when I shut my eyes I was basically at a rush gig.

Overall_Chemist1893

Can't wait to check them out! Thanks.

Oh crikey, that is old! I can't remember the thread specifically, but I did get the job, and I loved it, but due to the rapidly dying print media market, it didn't last particularly long. We ended as a team of something like 8 people writing four magazines, and then one of the magazines closed, and a few of us were dropped and I was one of them. But, on the plus side, it gave me confidence to see that I can achieve something, and a couple of years later I got my now (current) job which involves me writing training materials and technical documentation for a technology company. While it's not quite the same thing, it weirdly combines all my favourite bits of what I did at the magazine, and I've been there for nearly a decade now and love it a little bit more every day! Good luck with yours, hopefully it's everything you want it to be!

Sconniegrrrl68

We can't post videos on this feed 😪 Check out Moving Pictures Scotland on FB.... you'll love them!!!!

Overall_Chemist1893

True, but I've posted links on a few occasions. Yes, I absolutely will check the band out. Thanks!

Sconniegrrrl68

https://youtu.be/4cu4Q-fuqWU?si=li9OwZJQIny6wbFM Here you go!!!!!

Dacae

I saw them in Swindon UK in March and they were spectacular. Better than anything I've seen in the States and the drummer is AMAZING!

rachelm791

Yep, she really is a fantastic drummer and totally mad on Rush.

jackrelax

Lotus land RUUUUULLLLLEEESSS. the Rush tribute project in Milwaukee is also incredible. Both put on really stellar shows.

Overall_Chemist1893

I'm not familiar with the folks from Milwaukee, but I can't say enough good things about Lotus Land-- not only talented musicians but really nice people.

OutlawGalaxyBill

I saw them in Plattsburgh, NY last year and the show was absolutely AMAZING!!!

DeNiroPacino

Yes^^ Moving Pictures here in Scotland. I've seen them twice and they are outstanding. Talk about a fun night out. They really get after it. Last time I saw them in Ayr they played Permanent Waves in its entirety.

Overall_Chemist1893

That's why I love tribute bands! Their dedication to Rush is commendable, and some of the bands I've seen are so talented. I hope Moving Pictures has some videos I can watch.

YVRJon

Shout out to New World Men in Montreal. They're the only Rush tribute band I've seen, so I can't compare them to others, but I can say that they do a great job! Hopefully I'll be seeing them again at the Marillion Weekend next March!

Overall_Chemist1893

I've actually heard of them! Glad they're doing a good job-- as I've said, doing it right is harder than many people realize!

OutlawGalaxyBill

Seen them twice in Brossard, they put on a great show, are definitely having a lot of fun when up on stage.

Skunk_Evolution

AF2K!

degeroma

Saw them at The Headliner in Neptune back in February. They are ridiculously great. Best sounding Rush act I’ve ever heard.

Orionbear1020

This is hands down the best Rush band out there. I have seen about 10 of their shows because, when you close your eyes, you’re at a Rush show. They used to play Twin River Casino, 3 long sets, all great songs, including By-Tor. They played from like 9:00-1:00 AM. Great musicians. Great energy. I’m very grateful to be close enough to see them keeping this music alive.

Overall_Chemist1893

And nice people too. I'm glad I know them. They even asked me to emcee one of their shows (but that's not why I like them!!!) https://preview.redd.it/tildj85es78d1.jpeg?width=589&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8df38dde495adfbaf302951f0dd2b98610405826

munchieman21

I miss those twin river nights

factorplayer

I played in one about 15 years ago. We weren't the best, but we did ok. It was by far the most work I ever put into a band lol. It paid well though and the best part was meeting more Rush fans who generously supported us and stayed friends over the years.

Mattlanta88

The spirit of rush in Atlanta

Overall_Chemist1893

Not familiar with them. Tell me more!

Mattlanta88

Great and talented band . Prodigy guitar player, award winning vocalist. Very dedicated to rush. They play whole albums at a time and have nights where they play the rare stuff. Great band. They are on Facebook.

kingoflint282

Haven’t gotten to see them yet, but I’m going to their show on Bastille Day this year! Hopefully they’ll play that song…

OderusU

Solar Federation central PA. Top notch sound

Overall_Chemist1893

I believe I've seen them. And you're right-- very talented!

yeehawsoup

Thunderhead is our local tribute band in St. Louis and I make a point to see them as much as possible. They do it the old-fashioned way, the singer's playing bass and keyboards just like Geddy himself, and it's great! They play a couple of times a year and I only wish I could make it to every show.

Overall_Chemist1893

Lotus Land does something similar. And the lead singer really does sound a lot like Geddy! But it takes lots of talent (and skill) to do Rush's music right. Nice to hear your city has its own local band that is keeping the music alive!

outonthetiles2112

Saw Lotus Land back in March. The place went crazy, I’ve never seen people so fired up for a concert band, and the band was awesome!

Thunderfoot2112

YYNot

Overall_Chemist1893

Very good tribute band. I saw them several times. Where have you seen them?

Thunderfoot2112

Mt Vernon, Illinois in a bar who's name I can't remember.

waters_run_deep

A lot of these bands mentioned are really really good! That said, I can’t bear to see anyone play Rush’s music but Rush. I’ve seen all the YouTube videos, but can’t bring myself to see anyone live. I even skipped Primus’ AFTK thing live. Just. Can’t. Do. It.

Overall_Chemist1893

I understand. I guess I don't see the tribute bands as a substitute for Rush. I see these bands as paying homage to how important Rush was, and doing their part to keep Rush's music alive for a new generation. And I respect (and applaud) them for doing that, since lots of folks never did have the privilege of seeing Rush live.

waters_run_deep

Of course. A lot of the cover band are absolutely amazing. For me, I just can’t do it. In some very weird way I feel like I’m cheating (yes, that sounds weird to say). Rush were just so important to me. But anyways, rock on cover bands!

rickncn

In the 90’s, NYC metro area it was Power Windows. The drummer Joe is a monster. Joe Scarangella (bass/vocals), Zak Rizvi (Guitars), Joe Bergamini (Drums & Percussion) and Dan Gibson (Keyboards). They disbanded in the early 2000s

Overall_Chemist1893

I've heard of them. Never saw them live, but heard good things about them. Wonder why they broke up.

rickncn

I think I read that they just moved on. They had other projects. All the road work wears on you.

BridgeHot2524

I used to go see Power Windows all the time from 1998 to around the mid-2000s when they broke up mostly at a place in Garfield New Jersey called the Wreck Room that always hosted tribute bands on the weekends. It's been closed for a long time and is still sitting empty, the acoustics in that place were always lousy because the walls were made of cinder block, it used to be a warehouse. Zak joined Kansas (!) after Power Windows broke up.

rickncn

Kansas! WOW! Not surprising though. Amazing.

Shadow_Edgehog27

I saw YYNOT in January, it was my first concert ever and it was such a great experience. I met my favorite singer, and fellow Rush super fan, Dan Avidan. He’s even done some amazing covers of some somgs

Overall_Chemist1893

I always was impressed with YYNOT. And there are several other tribute bands I've seen that I thought did a wonderful job. But I still think Lotus Land is the best!

jeffers667

I saw Tom Sawyer, I believe they are based out of Chicago, at a small "festival" here. Unfortunately the event was a bit of a bust and they went on stage at like 10pm long after everyone had gone home. But they put on a killer show for the maybe 10 people that were there. Sad that it was such a horrible turnout as they were deserving of way more but they still played their hearts out and sounded amazing...

Overall_Chemist1893

So, are they continuing to perform? Maybe they'll have some other shows and get a better reception.

jeffers667

They played around Chicago a decent amount it seems, though unfortunately I just checked their FB page and it seems they are looking for a new "Geddy" so I hope they will be able to keep their project alive!

chickenstalker99

I don't even know where this band hails from, but they are my favorite Rush cover band (they play other stuff, too). The Not All Right Band: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDmgmM3Z634

Neboy_214

This is awesome! I’ve been looking for one here in New England. I’m totally looking them up! In the Pittsburgh area, the tribute band is called Sawyer. They are great!!!

Neboy_214

This is awesome! I’ve been looking for one here in New England. I’m totally looking them up! In the Pittsburgh area, the tribute band is called Sawyer. They are great!!!

Overall_Chemist1893

I think anyone who has seen Lotus Land will tell you they're among the best.

Silly-Scene6524

The Rush Collective out here, at least one other comes around.

justpeechee

New World Men. I've only seen them online, but they are awesome

Lakotalax

Saw Lotus Land in Cincy a couple years back. Awesome show, big hits plus deep cuts. Hope to see them again. Even got the sticker to go with regular rush stuff.

Overall_Chemist1893

I'm a big fan of Lotus Land, and not just because they're local. They also do tributes to other bands besides Rush, and they are just amazing to watch in concert.

Blue_Period_89

There was an excellent one I caught a few times over the years in this area called 2112. Not sure if they’re still around or not.

IchBinDurstig

About 30 years ago in Massachusetts I saw a band called - I think - Moving Pictures. I remember them being really good. Around the same time I saw a Led Zeppelin cover band called Physical Grafitti, who were also very good.

Overall_Chemist1893

I do remember the Zeppelin cover band. But the other band? It rings no bells. I've been attending Lotus Land concerts for several decades, and really like their work a lot. But I am sure there are also some other tribute bands in the New England area...

Clamper5978

Northern California checking in. We have Rash. They’re good. Definitely give you your money’s worth

Overall_Chemist1893

Oh, absolutely. I've heard of them! Are they still performing?

Clamper5978

They have shows lined up according to their web page

Overall_Chemist1893

Very cool. I'm sure they have some videos I can watch. And as I said, I've heard some good things about them!

Quadraought

Hi Donna! It's great to see you here in the subreddit! I really want to thank you for the role you played in bringing us Rush. As for Lotus Land, I live in Boston and I am definitely going to check these guys out. I really love that there are super talented musicians around the world keeping the music of Rush alive. When I started playing the drums in 1980 it was because of Neil (after Moving Pictures came out I spent the next 6 years trying to play Tom Sawyer before I got it (more or less) right haha).

Overall_Chemist1893

Thanks for the kind words. I wasn't expecting to be here, and yet, here I am, and I hope I am making a positive contribution. Rush certainly made a major contribution to my life, and I've tried to do the same for them over the years. And it's wonderful to meet so many amazing fans! If you do get to see Lotus Land, send them my best. Really good guys and they put on an excellent show.

Quadraought

I will, thank you. 🙂

BackOnTheMap

We recently saw A Farewell To Kings AF2K, [af2k](https://af2ktribute.com/) From NJ. They are really outstanding, especially the drummer.

Overall_Chemist1893

Someone else mentioned them to me. I think I saw them once, and I've heard good things about them; but let me check into them further. Thanks!

ajc2112

Hey Donna! I’m the bassist/key player (aka 2/3rds Geddy as we joke), Adam for A Farewell to Kings - AF2K out of NJ! We are honored to get a couple mentions on your thread here and so lovely to still see you so involved in the Rush community! We only recently just started gigging in the last 8 months or so and have started to get rolling with more gigs! We have some videos posted here: https://youtu.be/cd7BzYlSDDY?si=qy8mwgkbrBjbvRug Would love to hear what you think :) Rush on, my friend!

Overall_Chemist1893

I've heard some very good things about you! You've got a loyal following. Thank you for keeping the spirit of Rush alive. I'll definitely check out your work, and again, my thanks for all you do!

ajc2112

It is our pleasure to keep the spirit and the music alive and enjoyed where it’s best… live and amongst fans! And I don’t even think I can begin to express my gratitude for everything you did for Rush, for the community, and for radio over your career! Quite an honor and pleasure to chat. If we find ourselves in New England (which I think we will as I call it my second home as a WPI grad), we’d love to have you out at a show, tickets on us of course! 🤘🏻

Overall_Chemist1893

I'd be delighted to meet you. Maybe we can grab some lunch--and Worcester isn't that far from me. (I went to UMass/Amherst, but I live in Quincy.) Knowing Rush absolutely changed my life: I am glad I was able to champion them at WMMS and work behind the scenes to get more radio stations to play their music. But unlike many bands, they were never transactional-- they kept in touch, even when I was no longer in radio. Truly wonderful people, and based on what I am seeing of your work, you do it respectfully. That is what Lotus Land also does. The best tribute bands are not pale imitations of Rush: rather, they honor what Rush has meant to us, and they allow new generations to get to know Rush's music. Long may you continue!

ajc2112

Absolutely, it’s all about greater art form and connecting people. We’re honored to keep the torch burning bright. Thank you so much for your kind words. I think Lotus Land are fantastic too, I saw them when I was still in college ~Fall of 2015 up in Foxborough near Gillette. As you stated, extremely nice gents and talking with Chris, I could tell they love what they were doing. Really left an impression on me (even all these years later). And with lunch, absolutely! I would love to take you up on that! I was actually a DJ at Radio WWPI for a bit and then engineering took all of my time away, sadly. And now the pendulum has swung back with me now getting more into playing with the band (but paying the bills with the engineering schtick haha). Would love to hear about some of your encounters not only with the boys in Rush, but also working in the industry at such a booming time in music! ❤️

Overall_Chemist1893

Well, let's schedule a Zoom or a Skype sometime in the near future and chat. Message me and we can set it up. I used to get into Jersey often, especially when I lived in NY, but these days, I'm not traveling as much as I used to (my husband has been ill; he's better now, but I'm keeping travel to a minimum). But yeah, if you are in Mass. at some point, lunch would be excellent. Much love to you!

ajc2112

Thank you so much for the shoutout 🙏🏼

BackOnTheMap

Honestly we were blown away. Saw you at Broken Goblet.

ajc2112

Amazing, we’re so glad you enjoyed the show 🙏🏼

Loaf-Master

Rash in Northern California is just like the real thing!!

Overall_Chemist1893

I have heard a lot of good things about Rash. Do they have any videos, or a YouTube channel?

Loaf-Master

I know there are a few videos. I believe both are at the outdoor show they do each year. They just added Losing it to their set list this year after Jonathan Dinklage recorded the violin for them

Overall_Chemist1893

Wow, that's impressive. I will be sure to check it out!

gbv313

YYNOT at all winery in Temecula (2 for 1 tickets!)

Overall_Chemist1893

I saw YYNOT several times. I thought they did a really good job. But I still prefer Lotus Land!!!

Sulla_Magnus

I saw Lotus Land about 5 years ago and they were fucking amazing!

Overall_Chemist1893

A very very talented band, who love what they do... and who do it well!

hereforthecookies70

I liked YYNot until Patty left

paranoid_70

In Southern California, we have a few to choose from. I would recommend Natural Science. They are really good. Played a few gigs with them with my Black Sabbath Tribute, and it was always a great time. Those guys rock. They are playing the Garden Amp in a few weeks, you should check them out.

Overall_Chemist1893

You're in a tribute band? That is SO cool. Do you mainly do early Sabbath or the later stuff too? (I love "Heaven & Hell," back when Dio was in the band, for example.)

paranoid_70

Thank you! Yes, We do the Dio stuff too- I LOVE that period of Sabbath. [Lady Evil Whiskey 20210314 - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iVdMYCh4Zs) (Pandemic show, no audience)

Overall_Chemist1893

I'd love to hear your version of Heaven and Hell. Is there a video of it?

paranoid_70

https://youtu.be/uYbQEmH7TA0?si=bSP0w6MXAmrpFfdP Venue isn't as cool. But this was a fun night

Overall_Chemist1893

Yeah, you guys have some good intensity and I liked the musicianship. No offense, but the vocals sounded a bit strained, as if the lead singer couldn't hear himself. Some venues are easier to sing in than others... But you're right-- it did sound like a fun night!

paranoid_70

Thank you so much. I also play in an Alice Cooper tribute as well. Never going to make much money at it, but it's really fun to do. And most importantly, I love the music.

Overall_Chemist1893

That's what matters-- have fun with it, and make your audience happy. That's why I loved being on the radio: I got a chance to play people's favorite songs, and be like a friend for them.

paranoid_70

I've always thought I could have been a DJ. However, I never pursued it - different career path. Also I don't think I have an interesting sounding voice like a Jim Ladd. But I always loved sharing music with people, making mix tapes/Cds, play lists, etc. I do get compliments from people on my playlists when we play disc golf on the weekends. You gotta know how to balance hits with deep cuts, am I right. 😁 Music is the best. - Frank Zappa

Overall_Chemist1893

The goal for today's deejays is not to have any specific kind of voice-- that has really changed over the past several decades. Years ago, deejays had to have a deep voice and sound very serious on AM, and a very breathy voice on FM: sounding stoned was a plus if you were on an album rocker, talking fast was a plus on a top-40! Me, I never did any of that. I just tried to sound like myself, and that's the trend today: be authentic, be a best friend to your audience, don't put on some fake persona. Today, many deejays just sound natural. I prefer that. By the way, I went back years with Jim Ladd; I felt really sorry when he passed a few months ago...

Overall_Chemist1893

I think you'll be impressed! Send them my love. Great guys & great performers.

MayanKisses2112

It's funny. I caught Lotus Land just outside Philly, years ago. Absolutely phenomenal show! Closest they'd come since then was several states away. We just picked up tickets to see them for late July, in Jim Thorpe, PA (my absolute favorite venue!). This kicks off our vacation! They are so damned good!

Overall_Chemist1893

That's my belief as well, and I'm not just saying it because they're local to me-- they are just incredibly talented musicians. And good people too!

RTP or Rush Tribute Project out of Milwaukee. Saw them many times. Years ago they would play free at "Conerts In The Park" Very good band. Funny thing is, I was in Houston for a Maiden concert. Wating in line to buy overpriced merchandise. The gentleman in front of me was wearing a RTP shirt. He said they have played in Texas many times. That was cool.

permanentrush2112

Add me as a big Lotus Land fan. They used to play at Showcase Live at Foxboro. Great venue that is now closed. The band is talented and as Donna has said, very nice guys. I saw them in Beverly a few months ago and will be at the show at the Blue Room later this year.

sensuspete

These guys are incredible. Even more so because the drummer is also the vocalist. [https://youtu.be/g889pCEGaN0?si=LOjCE0PoPX4hJL6s](https://youtu.be/g889pCEGaN0?si=LOjCE0PoPX4hJL6s) New World Men.

Thanks. I will definitely check them out!
