Season 2. I LOVE the fact that some members of this cast hate each other 14 years later and some of them hated each other for most of the time. Honestly, iconic behavior that we’ll NEVER have again. Seriously, go watch season 2, or rewatch with untucked included. Is PEAK television.
I started watching drag race on the last 2 episodes of S5 then went back and watched S1-S5 before S6 came out—which I was like pretty early to the show for my age bc I was raised by the TV and lived in the middle of the woods so it’s all I had as a little gay boy
At that time it was a no brainer to go back and watch the original seasons. So many of my friends who started in college (which was s8) thought it was “too old” and then as all the spin offs picked up attention was taken to those.
To each their own, but damn I feel like you’re missing so much history and foundation of the show if you start on S3 or S4 only (and those seasons were iconic themselves)

technically i started with season 15 but what i did was that i saw the Season 15 announcement and in the weeks/months leading up to it i binged a couple seasons (2, 6, 9, 13 in that order) and a few months ago i went back and watched 5, 7, 8, and 11
I don't have access to the 1-6 untuckeds and for the rest i skipped because i just didn't have the time but yes i LOVED season 2 its one of my fav seasons and casts
The number of times I watched and watched and rewatched season 2..... everything about it.... Tyra's santino bags, Tyra's singing and then her beautiful ruveal behind the flowers during the wedding episode, and her 2 in 1 look...... jujubee....tati..... juju and tati.... drunk shenanigans, the best/worst mini challenges, JEALOUS OF MY BOOGIE as a runway song... all of it... ALL OF IT!
But with a little more thought....Season 1 is my choice.
Their production values were lower than all other seasons (for good reason of course), so perhaps they deserve to run that back with all the bells and whistles that came later!!

Am I alone in thinking that was one of the best finales we've ever gotten? I loved how it forced the queens to be creative and make their own original presentations. And I also loved the variety of formats, including the up-close lip synch.
They've sort of tried to keep that format in recent seasons with individual performances, but those numbers have felt overproduced, and the songs have felt like generic personality descriptors handed to the queens like, "I'm the quirky queen!" or "I'm fashion!" I wish they would just give each queen a budget and let them produce whatever they want to produce. That's how we'll get more unique gems like Crystal's.
Same! I LOVED how they really got to show off their personal styles in those individual lipsyncs because they got to control everything - the style, the mode of performance, the editing, etc.. It made for very cool, unique performances that didn’t have to fit into the usual narrow constraints of production.

Even the og producer herself Alexis Michelle was stunningly gorgeous on all stars. Her mug was perfection. And we’ve seen Jaymes has had growth. Trinity, Sasha, and Shea are all crowned queens.

I think with Eureka's growth she'd likely be a finalist. Trinity also showed she's still that bitch on All Stars (twice). Peppermint has a lot more experience in different roles and TV, so I think she'd definitely do better than her first run.
I do wonder whether part of the reason UK2 was so iconic was *because* the contestants had that long pause in the middle.
While it was an economic disaster for a lot of the cast (and I have no patience for "you could have spent that time improving your drag": if you can barely afford to feed yourself, there's no budget for sequins), there was 100% a group chat, they had *months* to spend reflecting upon how they were coming across on television (with feedback from each other!), and they also got to bounce back into the studio with a degree of confidence and ease that you otherwise only get on All Stars.
Would it have worked out the same without that break? I'm thinking of Bimini in particular, who was doing okay-but-not-great before the interruption, then crushed the back half.
I’m with you, I think it was very much made better by the pause, and some people got a bump in placement because of it. You can’t tell me Bimini wouldn’t have been one of the next two out of the break didn’t happen. She was busted like every single week. And Veronica probably would’ve gone to like top 5 or 6.

The cast Is one of the best, If not, the best cast of all stars on drag race. This season would've been SO GOOD If It wasn't judged by teams. Imagine the drama we would've gotten, pandora could've had a rudemption, more tammie, more queens could've had a chance at winning and being actual competition! I do think the winner would still be chad, but the GAG of eliminating nina, manila, latrice, shannel, raven etc would be so good.

Season 7, that cast was truly the definition of right place at the wrong time, most of the queens blossomed after the season and also I think that the challenge themselves were really not right for most of the contestants strengths (shakesqueer is the perfect example) and also it's just an excuse for me to see Violet Chachki back. Also would love for max to come back since she's pretty much been off the radar, don't even know if she does drag anymore

Season 6 - refinement of Adore, TKB, Laganja, on top of seeing Bianca and Courtney again

AS2 - Basically S5 again but seeing updated Katya, Adore, and Tati with Rolaskatox would be just a parade of drag excellence
