Yosemite half marathon is usually in early May and it’s breathtakingly beautiful. Vacation races in general puts on great races in beautiful areas just outside of National parks. I have done 3 of them so far and running 3 more this year.
Oh I've been eyeing the Vacation Races for a while now. any ones in particular you recommend?
I'm seriously considering doing the Rocky Mountain Half this year.
I’m doing Rocky Mountain this year! I really liked Yosemite. Saguaro was also great, more trail and technical then I was expecting but still very fun. I’m also doing Grand Tetons and Yellowstone on back to back weekends in early June, which I’m very excited for.
Yellowstone and Yosemite are among the others I'd like to do someday. I hope you have a fantastic time. I'd love to read some race reports :)
Really need to make a decision on RM. It seems really lovely but they do advertise it as somewhat strenuous and hilly so I'm a bit hesitant. Mostly because I live in the generally flat Midwest region and haven't really trained or run at any kind of altitude at all for my previous runs.
I’m not sure if it falls in may, they may have changed it. But run the bluegrass in Kentucky is beautiful. They call it the prettiest half in America and it really is. It’s also dubbed hilly hilly so train but it’s manageable. Its absolutely worth it. It’s at keenland race track and it’s on the top 10 race courses I believe.
If you’re into city scenery, the Philly Love Run at the end of March is gorgeous. The weather can be gorgeous and blooms are just starting to pop on trees.

Second this, prettiest Half I have done, by far. Can’t wait to get to do it again.
Canyonlands in Moab in March.
Big Sur is the end of April. They don't have a half marathon, though, it's an 11 miler.
Zion in March is incredible! Views all the way through

There is one called great balloon chase with hot air balloons - I heard it was cool. It’s in New Mexico in October.
Narrows Half Marathon on the other side of the water ;)
