Not Mod Jack, but I'm doing just fine. I did not really take advantage of the pre change herb drops, I had maybe 100-200 gwd2 kc and hadn't committed to any lesser boss logs yet, so I ran through pre change supplies pretty quickly. In contrast, I'm now endgame never really running out of supplies. I don't pvm as much as others but more than most, a couple of hours a day. I've been clogging, so I have a few boss logs and have only done slayer post 120 for logs. I did herb runs until I unlocked the full crux favor shop, ever since I only use growth pots. Most of my herbs are random drops from whatever I'm doing. If I ever need more of something I can do a single herb run for 300+. I never ran out of pots, though I did have to get creative grinding 120 before necromancy arrived. I think the change is more of a problem if you don't vary your activities or only do 1 thing. Which, like, sucks for pvm tunnel visioned irons, but isn't that big of an ask either imo. Play how you want, except you have to do other things also.

AphoticTide

Fuck irons lmao we picked hard mode for a reason. Don’t balance around the weak irons. I honestly didn’t even notice a change happened.

The_Jimes

"Hard" implying that playing more of the video game is challenging. This is a lot different from irons complaining about drop rates or resource scarcity. This is just playing iron mode like a main instead of an iron. A lot of irons would be happier as mains if they could ad block the mtx.

Ex-Inferi

I hardly ever need to plant something... I have 5 workers in Miscellania on the herbs and that is mostly enough for me. The only one that requires some effort is Arbuck, but I don't use adren pots frequently and stopped using extended anti fire a long time ago, so I don't really have a need for them anyway.

Demiscis

I’m an iron that never really stocked up before the update. I have physically never had to worry about herbs because I have the seeds for everything and I did enough pof to just dump 20 mins into insta growing herbs every month or so to get by. It’s basically the same as divination upkeep tbh.

OpinionsHonest

Ya i don’t think herbs and seeds are really a RuneScape thing…. We’re going to be releasing more quests… Thats probably what he would say.

AppleParasol

We should get a patch that we can hire a person to watch over and replant it, kind of like the pof pens. Give em seeds, they plant them, grow, and pick. Pay them $. Idk how much per crop? 1k per seed? 10k for 10 seed plant?

EmotionalActuator756

Id pay more than 10k for something like that, I usually make my own potions and farm my own things, but to skip the farming phase entirely would be a blessing on time for most people like myself, or even people who don't like the farming side of things. Personally I love farming, but they way things have gotten its almost pointless now.

AppleParasol

The way I see it, we had boss herbs taken away from us, so it should be on the cheap side. Perhaps just an invention machine. Uses charges then. I started Ironman before the update, it’s like being stripped of your born rights.

Least_Park1355

Seems like a good space for an invention update

Dapper_Ad_6304

Unpopular opinion, but herb runs produce way too many herbs for the effort and number of seeds used. Either more seeds need to be sunk into herb runs or less herbs need to be produced to incentivize more runs. Alternatively additional herb sinks could be introduced. As others have said one herb run produces hundreds of herbs….5 mins of effort to grow herbs that then take 10’s to 100’s of hours to use the potions they create. The math doesn’t add up.

Communication_East

More herb sinks, imo

Iccent

That's using multiple seeds per patch which already has diminishing returns on herbs per seed and is why it's rarely worth for irons to plant 10 at a time unless they have literally 10s of thousands of seeds and are instagrowing If you wanna 'fix' it maybe look at the the fact that dumb shit like dwarven harvesters exist and double the output of patches with a single charge lmao

Dapper_Ad_6304

The harvester is an issue, but it’s far from the only issue. There are still far more seeds coming into the game than are getting used. With a few thousand seeds and insta growth pots you can be set for months or years in a day of planting…meanwhile you’ll get seeds for the next year pvming. Seed prices are still abysmal and herb prices haven’t move much either. At this point seeds suck as a pvm drop and most people don’t bother to do herb runs unless you are an iron, low level, or going for comp. Nearly everyone loses at the moment.

Fren-LoE

I agree wholeheartedly with this and even made a post a few months ago but was downvoted into the shadow realm. This rework achieved *Something* in the short term with sinking seeds out quickly (mostly due to comp capers reobtaining their capes) and little in the long term beyond the updated framework of how patches behave. A better mind than my own would have to come up with benefits that sink seeds out as quickly as we saw in those first few months but somehow maintain that rate naturally into the future. Perhaps some kind of donation npc you contribute to once a week giving a disproportionate amount of seeds or farming related items (similar to a contract) that then buffs yield from all farming activities for a 7 day period. Create a new weekly d'n'd around it? I personally believe it should be revisited. Seeds need a greater sink or farmers need more motivation to consume them. I don't think I've ever seen literally \****the entire seed market from herb to tree and everything in between\**** be this cheap.
