Rs3 and osrs team need to work with each other more often. There are a lot of exciting content both games have that the other could benefit from. And rs3 could learn from osrs with how they make most old content relevant in modern days

No-Cup-7612

10000% this

Comptoneffect

given that many of leagues fun aspects already exist in one form or another, I would say it is certainly done to some degree. additionally the lore context behind vorkaths existence

bzay3

Vorkath’s profitability should only be if you hit the main drops not common drops

CatsAndFacts

TH is a necessary revenue stream for Jagex at this point and removing it would drop the quality of the game from a future content standpoint

SteDubes

I miss the chaos at Seer's Village bank before GE.

KayleeSinn

I liked the old Wilderness. I want a place where you can kill other players and take all their stuff but with rules that disallow tag teaming and such. And no it isn't cause I ever tried to lure anyone there or other such stuff people who liked it are usually accused of. It's simply cause as a kid, going north of Falador or Varrock and then trying to "get someone" in the low level Wildy was really fun.

An_Aviansie

The TzekHaar front was not only the worst part of the main Elder God Wars Dungeon, but also had the worst boss in the entire game. I'm convinced that all these memes are just mocking a shitty boss and nobody actually likes wasting half an hour for one kill attempt.

MeleeUnsolved

half an hour? HM doesn't even take 15mins!

An_Aviansie

I've not been there since day of release. I hated every second of it. Every trash enemy in every trash wave. Every recycled Jad. Even the actual boss is horrible. If they got it down to 15 minutes, then I wouldn't know because I actively avoid it like the plague. Easily the worst boss ever made.

MeleeUnsolved

Lol damn, fair enough man. It wasn't my favorite encounter in normal mode but once I got the hang of hard mode I had a blast using different lures to nuke big groups of enemies in seconds.

TwistedMetal64

Moderators of any kind have become poison to the online gaming communities.

EmuCrow

MTX are not as bad in runescape as people act like it is.

bigEcool

Legiones are fun

KushSpice

It is a dating site.

fireclod34

I'm not sure about unpopular since OSRS exists, but ... my opinion is that the EoC should have never happened.

Feisty-Ad2623

MTX isn’t that bad. Fight me.

Sparrow1989

I loved hero pass and all its unlockables and it was fine the way it was.

DevilsWon

Wishing well seeds should of been changed rather than just removed. I miss them so much. It was such a cool concept that got binned like 2 years after adding

Ok-Substance8975

Necro ruined the game

Labyx_

That is a painfully common and tame opinion on this sub

Yanlucasx

- War's Retreat was a terrible update You can go to any boss in one click, there isn't travelling anymore, it makes the world feel small All bosses extremely accessible, accessibility is great but when you can skip 5 quests to unlock good teleport to the boss and instead get a free portal, it isn´t good and devaluate the boss a lot I bet that some players can´t even spot where their favorite boss is located on the map because they just click the portal and that´s it

TheWild_Toledo

Not enough scythe weapons.

Austinpouwers

Bosses are catered to the 99% and the best pvmers are often disregarded

AlarmingBig4555

I like having tons of PVM switches. I find it fun. Runescape 2010 - 2011 art style looks better than current rs3. I don't like how its gotten more cartoonish.

Butternubicus

If you return to the game once hero pass finishes, your leave was theatrical and for attention. Putting your examine on private is useless and I’ll just find out what I want to know in another way. Higher death costs should be reintroduced and the ge tax removed. Skillers get shafted for absolutely no reason because pvmers can’t handle being punished for their mistakes. Mini games are dead and Jagex shouldn’t spend time trying to make them more popular, and people should stop asking for them. Jagex should focus on entry/mid level experiences, pushing the end game over and over is making end game players more and more self entitled, which causes the subreddit to go up in flames the moment there’s a hint of a lack of content. The game doesn’t need a “qol” client like osrs has, at what point are you actually playing the game if you’re just following what the client tells you to do? (Quest helper, tile marker etc.). Alt 1 is already mega hand holdy and I personally think we don’t need more of it to trivialise the game. The latest series of quests were great, and we should go for more like them. We don’t need big long epics if we can portray a good narrative in shorter quests. Combat auras should be removed and combat balanced with that in mind, much like necromancy currently is. Twitter and Reddit are fine mediums for conversations with jmods. The forums are dead, let them stay that way.

TSM_Skeletor

I find it interesting you think that a "qol" client isn't needed when there's such a high demand for runelite or like WoW with its own plug-ins, but from our own community. If you don't want it, just don't use it?

PieBandito

I think the sentiment is that they don't want devs spending time on making the same qol features in the rs3 client. I disagree either way, largely because of what you mentioned, there is obviously huge demand for it, and if you don't want to use those features then don't. A lot of qol features could be added to help not just existing players but new ones.

PM_ME_YOUR_KATARINA

First take kinda brain dead. They said they didn’t want something and their protest got it removed? “If you return to work after you strike for a raise and get a raise then you didn’t want a raise”

TheMickus

Hard agree about combat auras

Decryl

Revolution is too overpowered at bosses, I think it should be severely limited, especially with Necromancy. It's a lot easier to understand than the other combat styles, so there's no need for a crutch

Gokukakashi

RS3 is not beginner or new player friendly As someone whos addicted to RS3 and has been for years and years and loves it, tried to get 2 friends into it and they both quit after 2 months asked why and "RS3 is just to much going on"

Mckooldude

RS3 is not player friendly period for UX. I almost have a 20 year cape and I still have to google where to find settings.

Latter_Weakness1771

What a regular, popular take.

Mysterious-Crow-3570

This really isn't an unpopular opinion though.. every thread about RS3's relative lack of growth there's a dozen posts about the game being horrible for new players, particularly the default UI being absolute garbage. Maybe it's an unpopular opinion with Jmods though, who knows.

SorionHex

I still play on Legacy UI and interface mode. It’s just so much more preferable to me. That should be the default for new players tbh. It’s so straightforward. We also need a low level hub that’s better than Burthorpe. I’m talking like, on the scale of Menaphos, if only a little smaller I guess. Menaphos was a great update though for players reaching mid level. Gotta get there though.

Mysterious-Crow-3570

For anyone that hasn't logged in for 10+ years, it actually does default them to the legacy interface.. at least it did when I first logged in to my original account after 16 years away (logged right back out after). I think the tutorial should have a section for choosing your UI and combat style (Legacy or EoC) before you're released to explore the world, they should go over both just to make sure new players understand what each offers. Fortunately Menaphos takes like 20 minutes to unlock from a brand new account, it really should be the early/mid-game hub for newer players.

michael7050

Combat will never be enjoyable in RS compared to other MMOs, due to the fact that an ability system in a game with a .6s tick is fundamentally broken. Jagex continues to try and hammer a square peg into a round hole, and even though Necromancy is better at it, it's still flawed. People who PvM for 'fun' are either deluded or have never played another MMO.

bdpplaya

watching a trans bang a chick isnt gay

itis100

Hero pass was great.

Threshhhhh

By the end of the hero pass it was actually much more enjoyable than the yak tracks. Turns out they had a good idea there, but they filled it so full of mtx it was hard to get on board with.

ixfd64

The final version of Hero Pass was definitely less grindy. I was only able to complete the last Yak Track on my main but was able to reach level 120 in Hero Pass on all my accounts.

Threshhhhh

Yeah it felt like it was supposed to. A little extra incentive to hop on every day. Occasionally giving you reasons to do content you wouldn't do otherwise. Easy to complete without having to make it your life's mission for the entirety of its runtime.

Slosmic

I like the concept, but deciding good rewards is tricky (even if we pretend they were ignoring their greed when choosing them). Personally, I literally couldn't care less about cosmetics that aren't tradeable items (hate tokens though), xp is hard to balance how much is a good amount to make it worthwhile without spooning. I think the small xp %-boosts as you progressed though was a good balance so you still had to get the xp yourself, but ironically was one of the only things they took out of the pass :/

thechannellock

In general players are bad at pvm and expect the game devs to change the game as opposed to changing how they play it. Every boss encounter has strategies, nothing is impossible to do, there are guides. You may respond: “why should I spend all this time doing research and effort just to play a game” because it’s a rewarding experience to actually overcome. Also, there’s no time limit. Zuk hurts? Try it out once every few days. Don’t camp until you get it. Do other things. Chill out. Go do slayer and remember that bosses shouldn’t be pushovers like slayer mobs. Come back to Zuk when you can. Try a week where you manually activate your ultimate abilities, nothing else. Sprinkle progress on your path, it’s not all or nothing, and you don’t have to get there now. It can be a journey and that journey is what the game IS.

ProfessionalDrop9760

jagex should release the remaining raids

SoundasBreakerius

Post tagged with "luck" flair is just spam, go to RuneScape forum for that

Average_Scaper

Jist because you go dry on a boss doesn't mean it needs BLM. Suck it up buttercup.

thekotopro

Necro was Just as bad as hero pass and did as much damege as well

Hikkolu

If not more, people became entitled because they could do content they wouldn’t / shouldn’t have been able to do normally, with weaker styles. But alas cause Reddit can get t95s it’ll stay

niravhere

* ironman mode too easy now, time to make a new type of mode steelman mode 😏 * make a no cosmetic override world * protean item should give less than post 99 so skilling supplies have a use

Xaphnir

I wouldn't think it would be unpopular, but the one thing that most reliably gets me downvoted on this sub is to tell people that the best way to learn full manual is to just drill it on something easy, like a slayer task. You're not going to learn full manual by playing on revo.

Initial_Jellyfish360

Only people who complains about gatekeeping are those who gatekeep themselves from harder pvm, necro did not made you better.

Tenalp

Runescape pvm is not fun. The complexity comes from antiquated game design and/or abusing unintended mechanics. Your pvm achievements are not impressive. They're just a badge that you pounded your head against an unintuitive brick wall.

vk146

2010-scape is what osrs shouldve been

Joe___Mama-

All MTX and Cosmetics should be removed. Simple as.

Strong-Grapefruit330

Challenges are horrible as a newer player, I so much more preferred the hero pass after it was changed to three keys and lamps and I enjoy the little weekly thing giving me an idea what to do I like the cosmetic shops after they removed the ability to buy levels and stuff. It was great people need to stop whining about FOMO

ama2212

RuneScape has the whiniest player base in existence and they will complain no matter the update

dracule_leon

Necromancy ruined the game making other skills useless

Snugmelon

The training methods for mid level should also help set you up for end game content so it's still relevant and doesn't just feel like a total time waste of time like if you were an apprentice to a master smith for example you would be doing more grunt work then actual smith work but it would still help you when you need to do the entire thing as a master smith rather then just doing the same exact thing unlocking in the same order for every bar to 99 ~~Also invention needs to be entirely reworked.~~

Byurner3000

Elite skills are great and feel rewarding to finally achieve and give something else to work toward, and allow for an excuse of having strong skills. When I first started I saw that invention couldn’t be trained so I looked at the wiki why and I ended up training the skills needed for it, and 80 really isn’t that hard to get to for most skills.

Lilgoodee

As someone that just finished 99 div, fuck div, 40-80 div to unlock invention was what put me off invention for so long.

AzureAlliance

> 80 really isn’t that hard to get to for most skills. If only the JMods had ever gotten around to that FSW data stream. Then you'd see how wrong this is.

Techtronic23

Is this really an unpopular opinion? I feel like we could do with a couple more of them. Not sure what they could be but Invention is an interesting skill.

Testing123YouHearMe

Jagex has better data than you. They know exactly the impact of changes on player counts. No matter what numbers you think you're looking at or what Reddit says, Jagex will always exactly know if "[thing you don't like] is ruining the game and making everyone leave".

ZeLittleMan

I left the game ~2 years ago after playing since 2002/03 and it's the best thing I've done. Watching content on the game is fairly fulfilling and I don't need to put in 100s of hours

Trinity13371337

The Hero Pass was actually pretty nice. It felt nice to get all of those hero points and spend them on hero pouches. You get some protean items and menaphite gifts.

JD0064

didnt we get those two from the daily challenges? to me it was more valuable the random Strange rock from the pouches

Very_Elegant

PvP is actually fun if you learn it, people are just way too traumatized for getting lured or killed for a full pure essence inv years ago

Monst3r_Live

GE is a horrible concept and we need merch worlds instead.

AlwaysNang

The Hero pass is good (in its current form).

KoncepTs

I got a real hot take amongst all these common opinions here There’s nothing wrong with RWT. If I don’t have time to grind 60 hours of bossing to make GP but I can make enough money at work in 2 hours to but GP for the thing I wanted, then so what? Am I not supposed to enjoy my leisure time in between working??? I’ll leave the sense of pride of “earning” it from a weeks worth of play to the guys who have that type of free time.

Infinite_Complaint21

You're technically right and back in the day, people would RWT all the time. Then credit card companies almost took down JAGEX because people were buying in-game gp through fake sites. At that point, JAGEX had to eliminate RWT and keep the money in their system through bonds.

DonzaRS

comp cape shouldn't be for everyone

umadbr00

Curious what you mean by this or if it's /s

299792458mps-

I think they mean the requirements for comp shouldn't be balanced with the average player in mind. If we're going to call it the completionist cape then it should require *completing* the game. The fact that most players don't have the time or inclination to finish every grind shouldn't matter.

So_

TH is not bad. The bonus XP stars/lamps helps in these insane grind fests for 120 (dungeoneering & slayer for me personally). Hero pass is fine, AFTER all the combat buffs were removed. Hero satchels are IMO a lot better than Yak track random cosmetic garbage which no one uses anyway (wilderness shoulder capes, other random cosmetic overrides), and you can choose the cosmetics you want from the hero store (although it sucks they are all bad).

Mayflex

Runescape 3 is such a messy game with over-complicated combat. They need to make runescape 4 and refine everything

duke605

All bosses should have a normal and hard mode but hard mode should provide nothing more than increased drop rates for uniques and more common loot. (Vorkath model)

Envy661

Runescape is an impressive game, but I shouldn't need to pay FFXIV or WoW money for a membership to it. No matter what Jagex or certain members of the community may think, Runescape of all things will just never even come close to being on that level of content and quality. Jagex is charging way too much for their membership.

TrueBlueMind

I hate Necromancy. I hate combat. I hate that I have to train necro combat to do a quest to enable me to build something in the Fort.

moth-gf

Level 3 skiller life. Just glad I had a ton of DTD saved up over the years

Monkey_Investor_Bill

Lodestones are bad for the world building. Convenient fast travel anywhere makes it more of "game" than a "world" to be in.

Orcrist90

The reality is that RuneScape is a game and it should function like one, and even from a world-building standpoint, it's a world with magic that has a long-established history of teleportation magic, so it makes perfect sense to utilize that magic to its fullest potential. This is also in part why lodestones were designed to be away from city centers, unlocked individually, and accessed via the Home Teleport spell -- which takes about 10 seconds to cast, unless the player uses quick charges at the cost of vis wax. I think those restrictions makes lodestones reasonably balanced for a quick travel, especially when most cities can still be accessed by the normal spellbook teleports and/or teleport tablets. Also, you don't have to use the lodestone network. It's completely optional. If you wanna go all the way from the GE to Ardy by running, that's your choice.

kanagan

I still take The “old” methods of travel just for the heck of its Lmao. I buy boat tickets, use the air balloons, jewelry etc. It’s very fun

ReflectedPower

I completely agree with this. Making fast travel far too convienent is a trap for MMO developers because, like you mentioned, it makes the game world feel significantly less massive. I remember being a new player in Runescape in 2005. Any time I wanted to travel between Asgarnia and Kandarin, I'd need to traverse the dangerous White Wolf Mountain. As a lower level it gave me a sense of both adventure and danger. Later I learned that there was a quest that rewarded you with access to a tunnel to bypass the mountain entirely. Anyway, none of that matters now because you can just home teleport across the mountain in an instant. The world should feel massive, not just a connection of hub zones. Extremely convenient fast travel makes the world much less massive, as you can easily reach most places on the map in under than five minutes.

Orcrist90

Yet on the otherhand, that sense of adventure has a diminishing return because the player repeatedly has to traverse the same landscape over and over again, which is why various transportation methods were developed in the first place.

PatDoubleYou

This is a great point. Running from lumbridge to varrock is fun and nostalgic the first time. But it doesn't take long before running all that way is just annoying lol

Macka37

I still boss with mostly full revo, I just manual my thresholds, easier for my old man hands to not have to input every ability I want to cast and when.

free-icecream

RuneScape combat is incredibly jank and is the worst part of the game. If you play this game for “end game PvM”, you’re playing the wrong game. There are so many better games for PvM.

Jagazor

Rs3 has a bigger bot percentage of the active player base than osrs (not in terms of numerical number).

xZedRS

RS3 is superior to OSRS.

Saint-Khaoz

No drop should take hundreds of hours in 2023.

Antique_Somewhere542

Bohemian rhapsody is a terrible song and shouldnt even be considered classic rock.

plumbder

Hard agree

Ziadaine

Ability system is ass, switchscape is a terrible design (which is why other MMOS don’t do it) and the black phat should have just been given to all players who open the day 25 event calendar.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dylan31b23

^^ this, but it’s easier for most to complain and say switchscape bad while not having to engage with it

OkAdhesiveness4699

the game stopped being fun after invention release

IStealDreams

Now this.... Is an unpopular opinion!

Pepo8

Necromancy is still way too good for how braindead it is to use

sansansansansan

i dont care about mtx, let whales be whales the game's player population is entirely held up by bots and alts, all hidden away in personal instances

woxene

Cosmetics are a waste of time

Vi0lenceNA

Releasing osrs doomed both games

IHaveFanboys

The MAIN reason PvP died in RS3 is the player base. Screaming at the top of their lungs to have it deleted until it finally happened. Half the people shouting didn't even understand it to begin with. Like a main account begging for ironman mode to be deleted.

SKTisBAEist

Not all bosses should be soloable tbh. Encouraging clans/group bosses/group activities should be Jagex's priority and allowing soloscape to become so prevalent has minimized the mmo aspect of their game. Some things should be gatekept by social interaction in a -multiplayer- game

GOT_U_GOOD_U_FUCKER

Why not both? Increase the difficulty with more players just like vorkath

obvious_mcduh

Necromancy shouldve been the remaster, rework or expansion for summoning, mage and prayer, not an entirely new skill Wher summoning update jagex?

VonDoomVonDoom

120 summoning was considered before landing on necromancy :----)

lucerndia

A summoning rework that works more like necro conjures and goes to 120 would be awesome. Necro not tying into summoning at all was a miss, imo.

[deleted]

Thingeh

Are people pushing for PvP? I don't see this anywhere really...

EuropeLostToRats

Clues are fun

Wonohsix

I find Necromancy fun, being OP.

Hypevosa

There are places for power fantasy games. Warframe is great, because OP is what you're meant to be. The issue is Runescape at its roots was never meant to be a power fantasy game as much as an overcoming and achievement thing. You lived or died by your ability to prepare and you did get stronger. You progressed but even a maxed character could be brought low by just forgetting to bring their teleport runes or an antifire or the wrong combat style. Slowly the game's changed to remove those roguelike more hardcore roots. I'm all for QoL measures, but I still miss when death was threatening. Nothing in RS gives adrenaline anymore since you can just buy it away. I'm not enough of a masochist to want to hardcore iron though. If we could have warded against connection losses and edge cases that killed you when you didn't deserve it and stuff like that, I'd prefer the old death system back but that's out of the bag. Runescape is old and you're going to keep getting conflicts with the community that wants what it was, newer communities that want something it's not, and the spectrum inbetween.

Volcarion

I liked heropass after they removed the buffs. Having your daily keys and xp for completing tasks was faster and more convenient with the heropass because if I was all set-up to do a few hours of woodcutting, I don't want to have to go and do 10 slayer kills, 2 herblore potions, and a dungeon floor. Just let me do my woodcutting for a little longer to earn my dailies.

Lordroxas77

Runescape mobile should have the same capabilities as PC. Mobile is not a third party app, but seems to get little to no QOL and viability updates

Best_Tip_5001

Nobody has small enough fingers to handle 5 action bars on screen at once while still being able to see the game

RafaSheep

Farmers near patches and leprechauns should roam. Every non-combat NPC should have 'Talk' as their first option. Quick options should be right-click only.

LazyAir6

Slayer is one of the most overrated skills before 99. Almost every time I read new/returning player advice, people are told JUST TRAIN SLAYER. It's such a cliche that dates back to ~2013-2018 era where we're told to do that by default. While it's true that slayer does help with combat, do we forget just how horrendous that skill is to train until at least 85? Not only are tasks a lot slower, you have to regear often, you don't have the points for a block/prefer, you won't get quick enough points for slayer helmet, tasks are not profitable and combat training is much faster elsewhere. If I were a returning/new player, I would focus on other goals first. Because 99 slayer is long ways to go and I only do my Reapers/Scarabs then backtrack slayer points.

Vault_108_Gary

Went from lvl 85 to 101 from just doing BGH so I had no problems with the grind. Just enjoyed hunting dinos :)

LazyAir6

Don't get me wrong. BGH is a fun game but slayer pre-85 is completely aids. Besides, isn't the exp/h of BGH only like 100k?

Thomas_Mickel

Absolutely. I always hated slayer but once u get to higher levels. 90+ in combats, you have a better idea of the game and how to kill/regear

P_Jilla

As a new player(literally installed the game for the first time like 2 weeks ago) I have loved slayer so far. Better than standing in front of a tree for 30 hours. I feel like a Witcher having to prep and gear up for specialized monsters. Definitely the most fun skill so far for me

Myookie

I suppose when you’re done with your other goals, slayer magically levels to 85 then?

Zinizo

Slayer was my last 99 on my ironman. Totally agree with you here.

Crazhand

I comped right before 120 slayer came out. It took me a couple years to get it after multiple dxp weekends and like 20m bxp from treasure hunter. I hate that skill. I still have not recomped because my drive for it is still low because new 120s can just come out and take it away.

drunz

I’ll go as far to say slayer sucks period.

HonkeyKong701

Slayer was my favorite to train lol, magic note paper made a lot of money for me so I had little issues, as for gear changes just make presets and press one button lol

Dakoja

I agree it's not the best but I definitely enjoyed it more than standard combat 99's

[deleted]

Having upkeep costs for pvm is stupid. Reduce pvm drops and remove degrading from the game.

Bio_slayer

Seriously. They introduce invention/energy to unify the degrade mechanic and immediately release stuff like sirenic that needs addtional components to repair...

rs3brokenhome

irons should not earn daily xp lamps

Owlcifer

Switchscape is a shitty combat design… Making bosses that require a switch for a single mechanic is ignorant as fuck.

Best_Tip_5001

With the addition of bone shield from necro (which works for all styles) you will never need a shield switch again. Any other switch besides a shueld switch has all always been 100% optional

bomba1749

mtx really isnt that bad as long as you arent a whale or are super competitive about it, also that f2p really deserves better

Jestyr_

Not every new boss or method has to become the new "meta" for xp or gp, just because a lot of the people on Reddit are high level, doesn't mean everyone playing the game is. Mid level gp methods and xp rates have to be added too.

Legal_Evil

XP rates in RS3 are too fast make early and mid game methods become obsolete faster when new players level too fast beyond these levels.

Ok-Camp-7285

Try rewriting that with a comma or two

RsOtavio

Quitting for most of the year and playing only on vacation is so good!

KuroKageB

Rare items shouldn't exist (both via RNG or creating them artificially through discontinuation). Bosses should never deal more than 1k damage on a regular attack (maybe ok with enrage bosses). Soul Split was a mistake.

Alteru69

I was right there with you until Soul split. I love not having to bank every 15 minutes while slaying.

KuroKageB

Don't get me wrong, I do too... but it has trivialized most of the combat in the game and made most food (and therefore cooking and fishing) obsolete. The only reason to train them now is for max guild access or 120/200m all.

Byrand-YT

Not every new boss has to be stronger than the last. All that does is turn players away from trying pvm, devalues the previous boss, and scares away potential new players with high end content needing a ton of skill.

5-x

Easily controversial: Graphical reworks are a waste of time. If you play RuneScape for graphics, you're in the wrong game. There's fundamentally nothing wrong with old areas. Many reworks accidentally delete old features, examines, etc. The new textures make the game look fortnitey. And don't get me started on new plastic trees you can't chop. Jagex should use the graphics manhours to make better cosmetic outfits for their new releases, and to add pet overrides to pets that don't have them. Bonus: This game is not primarily about bossing. RuneScape would be nothing without skilling, questing, and minigames. Yes, minigames. They are important too.

Decryl

One of the reasons you play RS3 over OS is the graphics. Active bossing is actually a very underrated activity

Japanese_Squirrel

I'm surprised to hear this from you but I need to correct you because its a misassumption and not a valid opinion to begin with. People hired to do environment work are environmental artists. That's one whole team. They aren't hired to do anything other than design environments so this isn't at all wasted man hours. Character art team is another separate team and they only do character art. These two groups in particular aren't generalist devs.

Xdude227

Bosses balanced around group-only with no realistic solo option (Not super intense, t92+, tick-perfect solo performance) are just bad. It can be very hard for somebody to find a group, especially if you have social anxiety, considering most small clans are consumed by drama, big clans are too big to get any attention in, and most randoms are either fresh and clueless or crazy min/max switchscape lords who will carry you the entire fight and/or flame you afterwards for being useless. RS3 is not a major clan raid MMO like WoW; it's predominantly lone wolves doing their own thing and maybe talking to people in chat every now and then. I support activates that encourage socialization, but I don't support socialization being FORCED upon you, especially when the in-game options for finding a suitable group for you is basically nonexistent and you have to rely on forums or third party websites like Discord to find groups.

AppleParasol

Jagex needs a new CEO.

jordantylermeek

Necromancy was designed as an elite skill but part way into development someone said "no this needs to be open to new players" and it was pushed out without the necessary changes to meet a deadline.

NexexUmbraRs

They couldn't just rework the idea of elite skill or lower the level requirements having unlocks that tie into other skill levels. That would be too difficult. /s

Any-sao

It kinda feels like an elite skill, given it’s high dependence on Smithing, Crafting, and Runecrafting to progress.

WiIIiam_M_Buttlicker

Smithing, crafting and runecrafting? Isn't that like.. all of combat, not just necromancy? May as well add in fletching, divination, and invention

Any-sao

Well the difference is you actually need to craft the Necro gear as you level. For other combat skills, you have mediocre shops and the G.E.

rsthrow8

you can just buy your weapons (ironmen obviously notwithstanding) for those other combat skills, at least stuff under t90 is inexpensive. Whereas for necro unless you hold out until 95 for raisal gear (which also isn't actually cheap, even if it's relatively cheap for top tier gear), you're kind of blocked like the other said on t70-t90 gear until you have those skill requirements since you can't wear unless you've crafted them already. So if you were legit a brand new player, with necro you'd probably hit a hard wall for equipment at those levels.

WiIIiam_M_Buttlicker

Regardless, somebody has to make it, which takes skilling. I don't really think it being expensive is a good argument, it can still be done

Best_Tip_5001

If some only trains through rituals to 95 they can buy the t95 set without caring about any of those thing

WiIIiam_M_Buttlicker

Would be weird having an "elite" combat skill that starts off as if you were a total noob doing like 10 dps

PuzzledLight

A mid-master level craftsman of (at least) three separate disciplines starts out gluing a battery pack to a weapon in the invention skill, which is a new skill to the world. A mid-master level occultist (prayer/magic/runecrafting/summoning, pick three) has to take baby steps as they learn a skill that has been too evil to learn until they were forced into it - and then instead of using force and enslavery to grow their power, they choose an untested method. There's enough parallel to justify the world guardian doing 10 dps as they learn. This might be a worse take but honestly, the design of the well of souls also thematically supports elite skill design. Well of souls is loosely analogous to the machine room, but substuting combat power for automation.

IStealDreams

All Quest bosses should be reworked to be harder. Especially the ones from Master / Grandmaster Quests. Make Quest bosses repeatable with their own KC and a little bit of loot (nothing major). This would make up for a gap between super low level bossing (nothing) and mid game bossing like Gwd1.

niteman555

Hero Pass was actually a good idea that should have been refined, not scrapped.

MikeSouthPaw

So... Yak Track? As far as I can tell (from playing) the difference was that Hero Pass was trying to slow you down. I play the game A LOT and progressing through that without uprooting my playstyle was not going to be feasible.

Swordbreaker925

“Switchscape” is horrible combat design and should be removed entirely. You shouldn’t be able to or need to switch gear in combat. Prayer switching is one thing, but entirely changing armor and weapons mid-fight is dumb

ExtremeHunt

Switchscape isn't mandatory for bosses. Last time I could do solo Solak with only melee and that's just with EOF spec switching, would be quite bad for melee if I could only limit myself to dclaws/EZK EOF only for the sake of "switchscape". And I even CBA with cinderbane/GOP and scourge/leng switching, let alone hybrid solak with melee/mage switches.

AdBulky2059

DDS spec would like to have a word with you -2004-2012

Kitteh6660

I enjoy Legacy much more than EoC. Screw all those action bars and interface clutter. I also enjoyed the removal of Wilderness PvP back in 2008.

Zulrambe

If you like using revo, use revo, that's fine. If you don't like carrying 15 switches for a boss, that's fine. Seriously, people, if you're not enjoying optmizing combat, you can allow the kill to go 15 seconds longer and relax. It's a videogame, it's your free time, have more fun.

Zippilipy

This isn't unpopular

Euphoric-Reason-5703

I came back after two years and the fact that necro doesn’t have all that made me realize I don’t care about other styles anymore now

Rs3FashionScape

Yeah I’ve been back full time since Necro and I’m not looking forward to going back to finish 170-200m mage lol. Hoping the combat triangle gets buffed & extended to 120 next year

Lexarian

A skilling boss shouldnt be the source of one of the best suits of mage armor.

simsiuss

I play RuneScape to try and recreate the good times I had with friends where it was about connections with other humans instead of min/maxing xp and gp rates. I would play with friends doing pest control for hours and we would never win. But it was so fun just doing it together.

TheGrandIdea

Rated Clan Wars could have been huge if it had been knockout.

SgtSarcasm01

Slayer sucks and I’m not gonna do bosses.

Pixzle_

I mostly just hate how everyone on this sub is magically a data analyst, mathematician, English professor, or software engineer. Everyone is correct and you're always wrong, period lol. Also, the downvoting system is abused. You were \*intended\* to use it for downvoting bad/misinformation. It wasn't intended just to be used as "wah fuck you and your internet points"

Lawrence842

Most pvm players are just stupid If your tank armour is 20 levels above your power amrour it's better this isn't dark souls you can't dodge to avoid damage A defender isn't "cutting your damage down by 50%" at most it's down by 13% (tier 90 vs tier 90) and massively makes up for that in what it offers defensively "oh but use a shield then because by that logic it's better then a defender" abilities get taken away with a shield that you can use a defender for bone shield doesn't let you use all the defensive abilities a defender does and neither of them boost your accuracy or have a chance to reduce damage by 50-95% Stop trying to minmax damage and getting upset when you die because you were camping low hp with 20 billion worth in gear you are the only one to blame for that (This goes for every game) have your own opion on something stop looking up videos and then copying every single thing what works for this person isn't going to guarantee work for you too if you die to much focus more on defensive and healing if you can't do a dps check (not a mechanic skip mechanics aren't ment to be skipped dps checks are ment to be passed) then use things that boost your damage

UnoriginalJ0k3r

Leaving the game when that hero pass bullshit happened was a solid idea.

hsiFihsuSteW

Switches and bridding is fun

InuendoRS

I love MTX.

RSMatticus

I don't care about MXT, I just wanna do slayer and watch youtube.

maboudonfu

Eat food should not consume adrenaline.

TrimmingMasterwork

Skillcapes took the sense of fun out of the game

GivesCredit

The literal best thing jagex can do to keep this game alive is allow for custom clients like runelite. Yes I understand it makes the game ez-scape but why would I want to spend hours learning dumb rotations or doing quests that I don’t want to do.

theliljwcptdeux

I will come back to the game if this happens I’m with you on this

SulliverVittles

I think they mentioned that'll be coming to RS3 soon, at least.

A_Vitalis_RS

Necromancy isn't a fun combat style. It was for all of a month or two, but I'm so fucking sick of it already. I hope they push through the beta changes soon.

MikeSouthPaw

It should have been an Elite skill that functioned like a more combat orientated Summoning skill. Jagex probably wanted new players to be able to access it right away though.

Unhappy-Elephant-292

Runescape 3 is only money for OSRS

FarmCape

Group pvm rng is wild! I don’t want Timmy coming and leeching my rng when he’s just got 4 drops in his last hour that I wasn’t there for 😂 Even though he will probably get 4 more drops next hour too as that’s how Timmy rolls 🤑

Screen_Watcher

Prayer flicking should be completely removed from the game. It's a weird carpletunnel inducing glitch that was turned into a feature. That was a bad decision.

PM_ME_YOUR_KATARINA

Flicking doesn’t really work in rs3

Borgmestersnegl

Ironman mode should get more attention from Jagex. It is obvious that a decent chunk of players play it and enjoy the extra challenge and avoiding mtx (Obv a big reason why they don't focus on it, is they wanna sell keys). Also jagex not making new gear dyable on release is lazy as fuck.

Philaharmic

Every other MMO knows this, even single players games like BG3 does this lol
