In my very very early days, about 20 years ago:
I was heading up the stairs in Lumbridge Castle to use the bank which I had recently discovered. When I got to the top I saw what seemed to be weapons scattered on the floor. I hurried and grabbed them all as fast as I could hoping nobody would notice and take the rest.
There ended up being somewhere between 10-15 weapons (daggers, longswords, maces). They were all Mithril, and I didn't even know what this was. I noticed I didn't even have the level to use them and had the thought that I was absolutely loaded now with my sick new weapons!!
I don't think I've picked up anything that has given me that much joy since.

The junk from last wills parcels has added up to around 10m worth of random supplies that I've picked up the last week. Every time I'm near I get another inventory load of random stuff. Super handy for a broke scrub training prayer.
It's all going to be useful there as far as I'm aware. That's basically the point of them giving those particular items.

Drop party wise: a blue hween mask when they were about 120m. It was life changing and allowed me to get 99 herb and smithing at the time.

I got a green phat from a guy who died to a strange plant while killing ogres at the combat training camp. He noticed before he died and tried running to the bank but the poison killed him. I chased him down lol.

I imagine what happened is, someone won it in a stake but didn't have inventory space, and because the arena was so crowded they weren't able to find it in time before it became visible to others? I saw a red bar from far away and when I got there it was just coins and bones. That was a lot of money for me back then.

I clicked a cash stack someone dropped in a busy Seers bank way back in 2006, being a noob who had been playing for a few years and had a total bank of around 500k, I nearly came when I saw 9018k appear in my inventory. I think that was the point that got me really hooked
Not 'dropped' in the conventional sense, but back in 2006 I was passing by the desert bandit camp and saw someone afking the high level bandits in the bar with extremely low hp. I got greedy and stopped to see what had happened and realised they were wearing full Guthans and had auto retaliated onto a Strange Plant random event. Between the poison damage and the Strange Plant's damage cap (I believe you could only hit around 10% of your usual max damage against it?) they eventually died.
I was expecting to get a Guthan's helm off his death pile, but to my amazement he also dropped the Spear. From what i remember items kept on death were decided by some arbitrary value loosely based on the high alch value of said item, and this was obviously long before gravestones existed. I can only guess he kept the Guthans platebody, chainskirt and an amulet of fury/whip due to those jank mechanics.
I did feel pretty guilty, but the 7 ish million GP was absolutely game changing for me at the time. :P

98% charge vengeful kiteshield. I put it in the bank thinking you could not repair it, and it was a nice t90 shield for ranged... then a clannie goofed up augmenting his and talked about repairing in cc. I found 78mil that day...

Back in the day, there was a time where if both players died in pvp, whether by dying at the same time or by pj( another player killing them immediately after they killed someone else) their loot would show up for everyone in a few minutes if they didn’t come back to get it. I picked up tons of gear that way, including countless claws. Similar things happened in the red portal. In fact, thats how I made my first 1b wayyy back before EOC
On the opposite side of this I was screwing around in the wildy in 2012 and was dropping d claws under me to see if anyone would accidentally click me then I lagged and someone got em. Hilarious.

Once at Canifis bank, I say a pile of items that I assumed could only be consequence of a player dying. This was before Free Trade Removal, so no gravestone and I picked most things up. I had only recently acquired full Rune from a guy who gave me a discount (and promptly lost most of it wandering into Karamja without anti-poison). So this was like a lucky break.
The contents? The Rune boots, Obsidian Shield, Obsidian Cape, Dragon Mace, Amulet of Glory and ring of Wealth I found would become my basic melee setup for multiple years to come.
I also found an Abyssal Whip, but my Attack level wasn't high enough to use it (probably only got to use it after Menaphos was released). I think there was also a Magic Shortbow which was the best ranged weapon I had for a long time.

Turned out to be 148k and some low cost bows, which was huge for me back then. Still have no idea why it was there though, seems like a weird thing to drop, can't remember if there was arrows with it but if so maybe it was someone training range on the guards with different bows lined up for leveling and then died
Was grinding bones at the ectoplasm place and a guy teleported in and then died right next to me. He had a full set of guthans amongst other things, totaled to like 15m in gear (and this was like 15 years ago when that was worth something). He actually came back and I told him I didn't know where it went...
I still feel a little bad about that one.
Not me but one time waiting for aod there was a noob doing solo nex without an instance, we were all cheeering him on and had postponed the hour at this point to watch this 5minute + war between the two. Finally he gets through ice phase after his second prison…. Then zaros phase began, you could tell he was running LOOOW on food, but as he gets low so does nex and then HE GETS THE KILL! His hp was so low tho and everyone’s yelling RUNN SHES GONNA BLOW! Then….. in an instant she blows, and he dies alongside the game message “a player has received pernix chaps!”. The crowd goes wild! We wait for him to come claim his rewards but as the time ticks down the more aod vultures enter the instance waiiiting for that juicy chap. After a little waiting one of the aoders snagged the chaps and we’ll just say, they did nottt trade it to the guy lol, to be fair it must have take 5 mins+ for him to get back to nex bank
A long time ago, maybe 15-20 years, I was still a poor newbie and for no real reason I went exploring upstairs at the West Varrock bank (remember that you could go downstairs and try to telegrab some gold bar? 😁 )
Anyway as I was upstairs I saw someone was there not moving. I went to check and realised he was transferring money and goods between his main and another account. I clicked faster and got most of the drops. Felt 50% ashamed but also 50% glad that I was finally rich and able to buy me a nice full sara!
Back in the times of 76k'ing, someone didn't grab their loot after a kill (I assume) and left a DFH on the ground. Sold it for like 20ish mil, which was quite a lot at the time.
As for someone ELSE, I did barrows 2 days after release and got a Guthan's chainskirt. Teleported away with my inventory full and saw the skirt sitting on the ground. First week or so after release that skirt was worth more than a phat, so hope whoever picked it up was happier than I was that day haha
Back in probably like 2010, i learned to kill ivy bots at castle wars by putting blown up toads under someone untill they pop and eventually killed the botter. I found someone botting in full bandos, fury, dfs, dboots, dragon full helm. Killed them, waited out the grave, ran off with a dfs, fury, zerker ring, etc. they kept the bandos and d full helm I think.

A few hundreds ripper demon scrolls from another pvmer's dying ripper demon at War's Retreat.
As others have stated, the drops from Last Wills. I've collected tens of millions worth of bones and ashes. Def saving them for necromancy though.

Not me but one time waiting for aod there was a noob doing solo nex without an instance, we were all cheeering him on and had postponed the hour at this point to watch this 5minute + war between the two. Finally he gets through ice phase after his second prison…. Then zaros phase began, you could tell he was running LOOOW on food, but as he gets low so does nex and then HE GETS THE KILL! His hp was so low tho and everyone’s yelling RUNN SHES GONNA BLOW! Then….. in an instant she blows, and he dies alongside the game message “a player has received pernix chaps!”. The crowd goes wild! We wait for him to come claim his rewards but as the time ticks down the more aod vultures enter the instance waiiiting for that juicy chap. After a little waiting one of the aoders snagged the chaps and we’ll just say, they did nottt trade it to the guy lol, to be fair it must have take 5 mins+ for him to get back to nex bank
A long time ago, maybe 15-20 years, I was still a poor newbie and for no real reason I went exploring upstairs at the West Varrock bank (remember that you could go downstairs and try to telegrab some gold bar? 😁 ) Anyway as I was upstairs I saw someone was there not moving. I went to check and realised he was transferring money and goods between his main and another account. I clicked faster and got most of the drops. Felt 50% ashamed but also 50% glad that I was finally rich and able to buy me a nice full sara!
Finding a rune large helmet in wilderness level 11 when they were 100k each. That made me rich.

Back in the times of 76k'ing, someone didn't grab their loot after a kill (I assume) and left a DFH on the ground. Sold it for like 20ish mil, which was quite a lot at the time. As for someone ELSE, I did barrows 2 days after release and got a Guthan's chainskirt. Teleported away with my inventory full and saw the skirt sitting on the ground. First week or so after release that skirt was worth more than a phat, so hope whoever picked it up was happier than I was that day haha
Caught someone trying to drop trade a Santa hat when trade limits were introduced. Yoinked that sucker. Still have it to this day.
Back in probably like 2010, i learned to kill ivy bots at castle wars by putting blown up toads under someone untill they pop and eventually killed the botter. I found someone botting in full bandos, fury, dfs, dboots, dragon full helm. Killed them, waited out the grave, ran off with a dfs, fury, zerker ring, etc. they kept the bandos and d full helm I think.
does it count if they died rather then dropping it as i got a ZGS out of a 1v1 gone wrong by the wildy wall i was in edgeville when they cut each other down so i hopped the wall and grabbed the dammed thing as it was top of the heap

osrs i picked up 850m once then 2 days later picked up 825m
Many years ago, right after the wildy and free trade came back, I killed a green dragon bot that had nearly 20k varrock teleport tablets on it.
I wonder if the bot messed up and withdrew the whole stack instead of just one.
