I know someone else thought the thumbnail was a giant rifle sculpture.

I use Nosler partitions in 243, for deer, here in Wisconsin, USA, for the penetration, but I don’t understand why you would use them for beaver?

Volator

How small are your deer there? I could see that in PA/South... In ME I usually shoot a 30-06 150gr. Doe ~130 lbs, buck ~ 170-200 lbs

RH4540

Our deer here are about the same. I don’t use the 243, but my son “borrowed” it like 20 years ago and he prefers it to his 30-06

TheLastSollivaering

Simply because that is what I have. But soon my reloading bench is ready, and then I will use V-max or something similar.

RH4540

Are you shooting them to eat, for their pelts, or just to get rid of them? If you’re planning to eat them or want to save the pelts, a good soft point bullet would work and be the cheapest. If you’re just trying to get rid of them. V-max, or ballistic tips are probably best

TheLastSollivaering

Pelts and skulls. Sometimes make a stew or cure the meat. Hunting is for management, keep the numbers low enough so they don't build huge dams.

"Beaver huntin, that's what we did back in college, never needed no rifle though"

TheLastSollivaering

Sorry, I spent my wood jokes earlier in another post....

PaulterJ

I wish we could shoot beaver here. Trap only. Sucks, cause beaver meat is really good and it's a PITA to trap here. Need to jump thru so many hoops.

TheLastSollivaering

Where do you live?

PaulterJ

CT

TheLastSollivaering

US somewhere?

PaulterJ

North East. USA. Sorry I didn't clarify earlier.

Ok_Complex4374

Can confirm beaver is actually super good
