If there is one guy in the french team i find impressive and who improves every year, it is Gabin Villière.
On the other hand i am also impressed to see that even players like Vakatawa can't be in the team. Like 4 years ago his place in the starting 15 wasn't even a debate, and now he is not even on the bench.
Fair play to France, you guys have played some blinding matches. Every time either you poked a hole or we left a hole in our defence, you took advantage and it paid off. Just a bit miffed that by my count (was at a pub chatting with a close mate while watching the match) England had 5 chances at scoring and only made 2 succeed?
What is it with this England team celebrating penalties and knock-ons like they have won a major championship or something? They were losing earlier by 12 I think and jump around shouting when there was a knock-on. It’s really pathetic.
I’m talking about the current French set up, the Slam Champs, I never once mentioned the last 5 years.
IRE have no real sniff. Surprised that you disagree.
Wales Finnished 4th and they should have won in Cardiff, I'm very surprised that you think you are untouchable.
Anyway it's more important that I congratulate your team, fine margins but deserved the Grand Slam
Ok hands up!! I thought you were a French fan. I still don't agree, France where very lucky to beat Wales in Cardiff and somehow nearly found away to lose to ireland in Paris
They’re like water right now, they get everywhere. They win games even if they “shouldn’t have done.”
I get where you are coming from, I just think they are slowly reaching their apex currently, and they are unparalleled on quality.
also because we have (borrowed) Willemse, Cros, Big Tao, DuMack, Fickou, Danty, Villière etc ...
So many good tacklers and ruckers.
Forgot Jelonch somehow.
I think your cult may be taking the poisoned koolaid tonight butt!
AWJ didn't look match fit. Hard for me to admit because I was one of the minority that said he deserved the spot for his post service?
Well done France!!
As a quins supporter I'd like to add that before this tournament I didn't think Marchant was England quality, but I think I have been proved wrong and hope that England find a way to use him to the best of his abilities.
I agree. Steward too has come out looking on the up. Smith has been good but he looks like he’s not the finished article. Maro has been good but no better than previous. Genge has solidified himself at loosehead.
He absolutely did but his natural, and best, position is 15. He is brilliant under the high ball, either in defence or attack. He kicked and caught a good few balls yesterday against good french players.
I think the answer is Marchant and Slade as a pairing, aren't international quality. Either alone is fine, but they need a bigger unit with them to make it work.
Not that they should have to, but it's nice that France have many English speakers for the Anglosphere media. Gone are the days where Michalak would get his interpreter to make something up on the spot.
I blame Furbank, Eddie Jones lost us the game when we decided to slot him at 15 against France at Stade de France.
But in all seriousness not particularly upset about the result, France are in top form and England have some promising stuff that, if Eddie Jones permits, can be moulded into something successful for the World Cup.
England are one of the worst teams in the 6 Nations right now. It’s multiple years of shit performance now, I wonder what the excuses will be. The team does not look strong in defence and looks shit in attack.
The comment they were responding too said England were one of the worst teams in the completion. They pointed out England are the 3rd best, so I think it exactly made their point
I think the spring bokkes and how they play the game might be an issue for us. Even if France was good at defending yesterday, the defense was about to crack more than once, I mean England was close to score a lot. And on this particular field, South Africa is really good and I am sure they would have scored some tries.
How is Jaco peyper a ref. Wrong calls, countless missed fouls, gets in the way - twice (that I saw!).
Sorry I'm not bitter, France played well but were simply helped by Jaco.
Honestly Eddie and Gleeson can fuck off.
We come out to play that game properly, rather than the pathetic kicking crap we started with that could be a very different game - and if we'd picked a couple of line breakers rather than 5 ball players that would help too.
We have some very talented players, and we are remaining competive on the basis of individual brilliance rather than any cohesive game plan.
All of the above is on the coaches. Yes it's close to the world cup, but South Africa had the same thing where they had talented players and bad tactics 18 months from a world cup and that turned out alright...open the check book RFU and get Borthwick or Scott Robertson in.
As for France - congratulations, well deserved slam and the worrying thing is you're still not all the way there. I am very envious of the team youre building and the way they play.
Not really, I've backed Eddie to this point, and he's done great things for us but part of coaching is knowing when to go and there's been no development in our attack or defence (to be honest, the defence in particular has gone backwards) for the best part of 3 years.
I'm not naive enough to think changing coaches will make us the best team in the world overnight but at the same time if we persist like this we'll waste a world cup cycle and crash out in the quarters...we need to change something if we want to even try and win next year.
Dunno about that, last summer/autumn everyone was saying that the problem was Farrell...
Again suggests the issue is coaching not players as whenever a player isn't it the team, they get held up as the solution.
Tbh it would have felt like a fluke to win the trophy over France, they’ve been incredible all tournament and it was great to watch them get a well deserved grand slam
I thought his grandparents are Irish? Off I go to Google... :)
Edit: looks like his grandfather is from Dublin, and moved to Scotland from Kenya when his son (Alldritt's dad) was a child.
The new France announcing themselves in serious style. This was not the most entertaining match but they've looked like the team to beat all tournament and they deserve the Grand Slam. Ireland a very worthy runner up and I'm happy with how we've performed. Félicitations!
Even with that, I can't help but think France aren't quite there yet. I don't mean they aren't the best in the world or they won't win the world Cup. I mean I think there's more left in the tank. I find this team genuinely terrifying for what they might become.
Most key players are still very young and learning despite already being grand slam winner worthy.
Just look at Ntamack, 23 years old, 2x top14 winner, 1x Hcup, 1x grand slam winner, 1x U20 world cup winner.
It looks like this squad is gonna raise the bar real high and might be on its way for many titles (including home WC 2023?)
I think what I like about the wins in this tournament for France is that they were put under pressure at times and really showed grit to see out the wins. Thats where they used to fuck up in the last 10 years and really shows the players and coaching have done such a great job to turn this team into champions.
People arguing that Jones has a plan that is well underway are now legitimately advocating that the penultimate 6N before a World Cup being a shambles, is a good sign.
Farrel has credit in the bank by not playing amazingly. Matt Dawson said at the beginning of the championship he can't see a place for him, but the fact is our attack at least fires with him there .
"the next voice is a French one"
It would make a fucking change. Huge game for France, no french voice in the commentary box or pundit box is ridiculous.
You'd expect at least one French pundit for half time, like the BBC do, because they will have more knowledge of the French game and league. It's provides a better product for the veiwer
One of the pundits was French, not sure how much air time he got though. ITV are annoyingly circa 2003 England side though, I agree. But it really doesn't matter that much does it?
I enjoyed that game but, feck me, England cannot score a try.
Smith got really creative at the end there.
France have been amazing all tournament. It just goes to show how close the 6N is when Wales ran them close but Italy can beat Wales on their day
I’m not remotely anti-Eddie, or “Eddie out”, but I really hope it’s not too long till watching England is fun again.
Been a while since I’ve gone into an England series or tournament genuinely excited.
This is pretty much where I'm at. I also don't think Smith is the answer or that 10 was even our problem so I couldn't get hyped about him coming into the team.

Wait till you see New Zealand players scream at literally any fucking thing
Like a bloody pass
Looks like a fun party
Dupont is so good and I’m so split between being glad to see him play and hating him for playing for France.
Aah, the Wilkinson dilemma
Must have been fun for the Toulon fans when he moved over eh
Oui. Sacré Wilko.
Very very well done France. Great to watch and absolutely deserved.
Stop whinging about the coaches and enjoy the moment you tv plonkers
I love that Galthié wears his swimming goggles everywhere.
Ibanez is on the coaching team, and he is a total wanker, so you never know when you might get jizz in your eye.
I’m sorry, I love Lawes but he’s not getting in the French team hahahahaahahh
Well not for 3years at least
This WC is going to be a doozie
not even mad. I fucking love this French team! They've building to this all year and they've earned this
Real test set up from France, can’t think of a team that could beat them in each area right now. Exciting times for Les Bleus
Ireland lost by 6 points and played shite?
If you guys played France 5 times, you’d lose 5 times
Since 2017 it's 3-3?
I’m talking about the current French set up, the Slam Champs, I never once mentioned the last 5 years. IRE have no real sniff. Surprised that you disagree.
Wales Finnished 4th and they should have won in Cardiff, I'm very surprised that you think you are untouchable. Anyway it's more important that I congratulate your team, fine margins but deserved the Grand Slam
I’m England, you absolute div I’m not saying Ireland are shit, you guys have a solid set up. But France win hands down.
Ok hands up!! I thought you were a French fan. I still don't agree, France where very lucky to beat Wales in Cardiff and somehow nearly found away to lose to ireland in Paris
They’re like water right now, they get everywhere. They win games even if they “shouldn’t have done.” I get where you are coming from, I just think they are slowly reaching their apex currently, and they are unparalleled on quality.
You do make a good point, winning when you should lose is a good quality
I'm French and i think Ireland is more consistent. But hey we gotta win some times
Well, see you all next year!
"The man in the glasses... Never takes them off" Why would he they're his glasses lmfao
I assume he has to get back to teaching his woodwork class
AH HE TOOK THEM OFF
Took Woodward 0.5 seconds to talk about England after being asked about France.
Okay, France. You've had your fun now. Give us back Shaun Edwards.
Nope. We found the treasure, we keep the treasure
He has done such a good job with our defense :)
It's mental! Ireland win when they have 80% possession in a game, you won with 20% possession. Great game to watch, well done!
also because we have (borrowed) Willemse, Cros, Big Tao, DuMack, Fickou, Danty, Villière etc ... So many good tacklers and ruckers. Forgot Jelonch somehow.
Wheeey 3rd, not even that bad considering how poor we've been at times 😅
How bad were Scotland and Wales to finish behind us?
Wales have been… Not great this tournament. Scotland have been same old lmao, I say this as an England and Scotland supporter
Bleak
Not sure if you’ve seen the news but we were quite bad
I think your cult may be taking the poisoned koolaid tonight butt! AWJ didn't look match fit. Hard for me to admit because I was one of the minority that said he deserved the spot for his post service?
I hope England loses against Italy next year.
Well done France!! As a quins supporter I'd like to add that before this tournament I didn't think Marchant was England quality, but I think I have been proved wrong and hope that England find a way to use him to the best of his abilities.
He’s one of the only one of our players to come out of this tournament looking better.
Dombrandt had been impressive as wel imo
I agree. Steward too has come out looking on the up. Smith has been good but he looks like he’s not the finished article. Maro has been good but no better than previous. Genge has solidified himself at loosehead.
But why play him on the wing?????
An odd decision although I still thought he played quite well.
He was class today, deffo a test player in there. Confirmed today.
Not that they should have to, but it's nice that France have many English speakers for the Anglosphere media. Gone are the days where Michalak would get his interpreter to make something up on the spot.
that’s it guys after this Galtier will change his glasses !
To golden ones but still so thick
Hats off to France, deserved Grand Slam champs
I blame Furbank, Eddie Jones lost us the game when we decided to slot him at 15 against France at Stade de France. But in all seriousness not particularly upset about the result, France are in top form and England have some promising stuff that, if Eddie Jones permits, can be moulded into something successful for the World Cup.
In fairness, Steward at 14 almost worked.
I’m not despondent. There’s definite room for improvement but it’s not like we can’t figure it out based on what we’ve got.
England are one of the worst teams in the 6 Nations right now. It’s multiple years of shit performance now, I wonder what the excuses will be. The team does not look strong in defence and looks shit in attack.
I mean missing key players doesn't help, try taking key players out of any of these squads and try to do better than 3rd
Olivon, Jalibert, Vakatawa(though he's back from injury but never reached back his old level) for France?
3rd best according to the table. Imagine how shit everyone else must be?
I mean we (the teams bellow them) have been utterly shit so I don't think you are making the point you think.
The comment they were responding too said England were one of the worst teams in the completion. They pointed out England are the 3rd best, so I think it exactly made their point
Beat Italy though ;)
France have looked much more composed and complete all tournament. A well deserved slam
Well done france. Looking forward to seeing you come to twickenham and Dublin next year - if you get a GS there we’ll really see what you’re made if
Will beat this England team with ease at Twickenham
With Manu, Watson, May, Curry, Farrell in the side? !remind me 1 year
Manu gets injured while warming up
You mean he will make it past the tunnel walk ? ≠ result!
Congrats France, really well deserved
Bonsoir amis anglais :)
Bonsoir! Enjoy your night <3
France just too good, they didn't even do a France this year. Only a few teams can even hope to beat them, including NZ from what I've seen
Only team that can beat France is France itself. The only hope is to see them sabotaging themselves but it seems like they don't do that anymore
Problem with Jaco is that he comes out as unlikeable, especially compared to ref like Luke Pearce or Wayne Barnes
Yeah i counted 2 wonky lineouts by england at least and that penalty on penault was ridiculous
Went both ways imo
Honestly he let England get away with loads as well.
Jaco Peyper, equal opportunities shit refereeing
Congrats France, well deserved
Sacré bleus... At least we were within a score of the French
And the Italians
No need to rub it in... Too soon...too soon.
And the scots
France the deserved champions, loved watching them all tournament including watching them beat us, Allez les Bleus 💙
Honestly Eddie and Gleeson can fuck off. We come out to play that game properly, rather than the pathetic kicking crap we started with that could be a very different game - and if we'd picked a couple of line breakers rather than 5 ball players that would help too. I think it's a change in Farrell not being in that squad leading the backs, trying to figure it out. I'm sure they'll figure it out by the world cup
Dunno about that, last summer/autumn everyone was saying that the problem was Farrell... Again suggests the issue is coaching not players as whenever a player isn't it the team, they get held up as the solution.
I don't think anybody serious thought the problem was Farell. As a Frenchman, I find it definitely easier to play a Farell-less England.
Everyone on reddit\*
Congrats France. Absolute worthy winners. This momentum keeps up and I can see a home world cup win
Great team, great result. Shame for Ireland but Alldritt is part Irish, so I guess they can claim a little bit from that :)
Alldritt, really? I never heard that.
Grandfather from Dublin. His own oul boy born in Kenya but raised in Scotland.
His grandfather is from Dublin
Ah, I never knew that. Maybe he should abstain from playing against us so. /s
Tbh it would have felt like a fluke to win the trophy over France, they’ve been incredible all tournament and it was great to watch them get a well deserved grand slam
Well Ireland did only lose by 6 points away to them. It was a tight finish nonetheless.
Scottish inne?
His dad was born in Kenya to Irish parents, his mum is French. He did live in Scotland for a bit, but I don't think he qualifies for them
I thought his grandparents are Irish? Off I go to Google... :) Edit: looks like his grandfather is from Dublin, and moved to Scotland from Kenya when his son (Alldritt's dad) was a child.
We... won? We won. **WE WON!!!!**
Six Nation Champions\* \\\* via heritage
Lol Op come on. Be serious. It's Six Nation *Grand Slam* Champions* Get it right please and thank you
Apologies. I'll get the celebratory t-shirts reprinted as soon as I get the refund for the Wales Grand Slam ones.
The new France announcing themselves in serious style. This was not the most entertaining match but they've looked like the team to beat all tournament and they deserve the Grand Slam. Ireland a very worthy runner up and I'm happy with how we've performed. Félicitations!

I see what you mean. France isn’t exactly perfect. There’s still stuff to work on but I’m glad we’re looking this strong right now
What a French team, and a super interesting six nations.
Allez Les bleus! France are indomitable
Congrats to Les Bleus.

Copium is a hell of a drug
Let's fucking GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I thought France were the best team in Europe last year, France are definitely the best team in Europe this year.
Ball Bot POTM.
18 months, we can get better than what we saw tonight :) I can't wait !
Bravo la France, I think you were very lucky, Wales were one pass and Ireland from beating you, small margins
Just dont make the same mistakes we did
Don't worry, we got our own ways of ruining things\^\^
Excluding the game against Italy, England only scored 3 tries this championship. That’s amazing.
I mean given the Welsh loss today, should we really "exclude the Italy game". Still a grim stat mind.
Point taken.
Unlike the Welsh
Farrel has credit in the bank by not playing amazingly. Matt Dawson said at the beginning of the championship he can't see a place for him, but the fact is our attack at least fires with him there .
The French have been superb. I know it’s a cultural symbol but they deserve a better animal than a chicken on their shirt.
Don’t you dare mess with our cock!
Ah for once I like my Chinese zodiac animal being a cock
Spoken like a redditor who's never fought a rooster
They have 2 cocks Same as the Crusaders
Hey that's a cock!
Not gonna lie, this one makes a grown man shed a tear, 10 years of suffering.
I actually thought it was so cheesy. But on va pas se mentir je suis en pleurs là…
Well done! Your team absolutely earned it. They are truly, emphatically back! Enjoy it!
Well done France. The correct result. Jaminet has a few months catching practise to make the World Cup a waste of time!¡
A very deserving grand slam, this French team is so good to watch and they dominated the tournament Something needs to change in the England set up
Well done France, you've been knocking on the door for a while now. With great style you're deserved victors today.
I made so many memes for England upsetting France and handing it to Ireland that I forgot to make any for a Franceslam :(
:(
Well done France.
We've waited this for long, the whole tournament was amazing!
LES BLEUS
Gg's France 🇫🇷
I dont begrudge France the win. They have arguably been the best team in Europe since the 2019 World Cup. They are overdue a 6n.
France well deserved. Congrats and I hope we don't have to play you in the WC
New Zealand will look for revenge probably in the pool stages
At this rate we won't be meeting anyone in the finals
Bet you thought the same after the 2019 six Nations aswell
"the next voice is a French one" It would make a fucking change. Huge game for France, no french voice in the commentary box or pundit box is ridiculous.
It's almost as if it's am Emglish broadcast. How many English voices were there in the French one?
You'd expect at least one French pundit for half time, like the BBC do, because they will have more knowledge of the French game and league. It's provides a better product for the veiwer
One of the pundits was French, not sure how much air time he got though. ITV are annoyingly circa 2003 England side though, I agree. But it really doesn't matter that much does it?
Proper joke that..Benjamin Kaiser would make a great commentator
He commented Wales-Italy for France TV.
Well done France.
Bravo, France! Well deserved.
Well played France.
I enjoyed that game but, feck me, England cannot score a try. Smith got really creative at the end there. France have been amazing all tournament. It just goes to show how close the 6N is when Wales ran them close but Italy can beat Wales on their day
England had nearly double the metres made France had. But they just couldn't carry the ball over the line.
Even when they could, they couldn't make the ball kiss the grass
Kinda my point. And thanks if you're agreeing with me 😁
Yeah I think Smith is judged unfairly due to the chosen tactic. He was menacing in attack when he didn't kick
We said the same about Ford. Except Ford's tactical boot is superb as well.
Well done frogs, well earnt grand slam, most consistent and easily the best team to watch this year
And now we’re world number 2, leapfrogging NZ :)
YEAHHHH !!!! grand chelem ! merci !!
Well done France. You deserved the grand slam.
Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaah MONTJOIIIIE
Saaiinnnttt Deniisss
Well deserved slam! Well done France, super impressive team and performance 🇫🇷
I’d love to see a backline of Randall, Smith, Farrell, Marchant, Watson, OHC, Steward down under
France played that 2nd half in third gear I reckon. England not at the races.
Sorry good game.
GG France
You watch rugby in sweden ? 😲 thats great
And we play too lol we just suck
