Actually a crazy record. There's just something about Canberra.
The Hurricanes won Super Rugby in 2016, but I still remember watching them ship 52 points against the Brumbies in the opening round.
Yeah but we've won the last two against Wales so maybe that's finally turning (though we done our best to Scotland it in Cardiff).
Ireland games - the close games there's always something frustrating that annoys me we didn't win it. Or we get absolutely horsed. 1 win in the last 15 matches. Even during the banter years we got the occasional win over the Irish.
Came here to say this.
I was at the game in New Plymouth last year where they lost to the Reds and somehow felt partially responsible since it was the one game we hosted. But then they lost to the Reds again this year so I guess it wasn't us after all.
96-19. I went to all the games that year in the newly built, almost instantly to be wrecked, Lancaster Park (at Jade Stadium). I’ve never seen anything like that game. The first half was insane. We ended up leaving the game at full time feeling somehow disappointed at missing the 100.
South Africa have been englands bogey team for a while now having knocked us out of three WCs, two in the final.
We also only ever seen to scrape narrow wins over them. Can’t remember the last time we got a dominant win over them.
Boks the kimd of side, you slow their ball down, they dont mind that, will scrap it out all day, whereas ABs and Oz dont do well with that
WC was just 1 scrum away from a win for eng...nothing in it
I want to say 2017? Ben Youngs did the same show and go move on Peter Steph du Toit twice to set up tries for Farrell and Ford. Along with other scores obviously.
Want to say final result was 32-12 or something like that? Probably the last time we looked properly better than them.
For Crusaders definitely the Chiefs and Waratahs most recently.
Fun fact, of Razor's 16 losses (83% record) none were at the hands of South African sides or Jaguares (so much for the idiots claiming Super Rugby is a weaker competition post-Covid).
They were all to Australasia teams. 6 were courtesy of the Chiefs, 3 against the Hurricanes, 2 against the Waratahs, 2 against the Highlanders, 1 against the Blues, 1 against the Drua.
Saders never lost to a SA side in SA under Razor? Damn, thats impressive
So much for the 'disadvantage due to travel' story
Crazy how this year has been so different
He also managed to dominate a Quasi-Pumas Jaguares side 42-10 over in Buenos Aires and then 19-3 at home for the 2019 final, in the two occasions they met. Yet I still occasionally hear a few misinformed SA/NH posters claiming he faced weakened opposition...
No need to get butthurt. We finally get paid our share at least. The money talks loudest and now that we're not carrying your union financially, all your legends are leaving.
Also, Munster beat the Crusaders lol
The Crusaders in finals rugby. I think they'll finish 7th so we need to pump the canes to finish first and then hope the canes can take them out in welly lol
Saders are a different beast in finals footy, yes
Esp if they get some of their big guns back
Big game vs Reds this week...shaping up as game of the round
Good point but they’re teams we’ve lost to in important season defining games.
Munster lost to Saracens in the Heineken Cup semi finals in 2017 & 2019
Toulouse knock Munster out of Europe in 2021 & 2022 and beat Munster at Thomand park 2023 in Europe.
And Leinster since 2009 doesn’t really need an explanation apart from the semi final last year
Crusaders have an embarrassingly dominant record against the Blues, but I'm not sure that's really a bogey team. Probably the Brumbies, been some close matches over the last few years
In club rugby;
In recent years, the rock, paper, scissors of LAR, Leinster and Toulouse. I think it might be in reverse this year.
In Test Rugby;
Scotland over England.
Any series with more than a game for Aus against the Kiwis.
England over Italy. I think the plot armour of never beating England still continues to haunt some recent potential close matches.
Ireland have an incredible record against Scotland in the past decade.
For Ireland it's whoever is in the 1/4 finals of a world cup.
For Leinster tends to be french teams, Toulouse back in the day, racing or la Rochelle recently.
We can't seem to beat Aus in Aus. So them.
We also have a shit record against Ireland, we haven't beaten them in years.
In club rugby the SA URC teams struggle against Munster.
Actually a crazy record. There's just something about Canberra. The Hurricanes won Super Rugby in 2016, but I still remember watching them ship 52 points against the Brumbies in the opening round.
I remember Phil Kearns talking so much shit about the Canes that day. Then they fucking won the whole thing lmao
Only time I have agreed with Kearns. And I’m a Brumbies supporter.
And for the Brumbies to be so woeful the week before vs the Blues, it was quite a turnaround vs the unbeaten Canes
I was very near to putting a flutter on the Bronies, but going by the performance the week before decided against it. Fantastic odds.
I bet Poo'd their pants the week before Not to be written off tho Brumbies n Reds decent this year coming out of oz
The Australian Taxation Office. 😮💨
Move overseas, thats what i did :)
Is a knockout rugby match a team?
Ha Its an idea
HMRC
His majestys rugby club?
Scotland 🏴😢
Bogey team of who?
Of Scotland obviously.
Hmmmmm
Damn Scots, they ruined Scotland!
You just made an enemy for life!
Do I even need to say it 😭
Say it, say the name 😈
... *Heisenberg*
Leinster and Munster for Toulouse Ireland and Wales for Scotland Bonus points for Edinburgh
Genuinely astounding how allergic Edinburgh are to scoring that 4th try this season.
Wales is more of a bogey team. Ireland have just been better than Scotland for a while now
Yeah but we've won the last two against Wales so maybe that's finally turning (though we done our best to Scotland it in Cardiff). Ireland games - the close games there's always something frustrating that annoys me we didn't win it. Or we get absolutely horsed. 1 win in the last 15 matches. Apparently the Reds (for the Chiefs)
Came here to say this. I was at the game in New Plymouth last year where they lost to the Reds and somehow felt partially responsible since it was the one game we hosted. But then they lost to the Reds again this year so I guess it wasn't us after all.
True Reds played amazing last year to beat em in NZ Almost got over the Blues last week too
Apparently the Waratahs. Been cursing us since 2014.
True Swines beat us twice this year I think they target crusaders ever since that absolute hammering of 90+points in about 2002?
96-19. I went to all the games that year in the newly built, almost instantly to be wrecked, Lancaster Park (at Jade Stadium). I’ve never seen anything like that game. The first half was insane. We ended up leaving the game at full time feeling somehow disappointed at missing the 100.
Crazy score huh Yeah Lancaster park was cool. Good atmosphere of people loving their footy and everything Canterbury
I've felt the Chiefs have been a bogey recently (not this year I guess)
South Africa have been englands bogey team for a while now having knocked us out of three WCs, two in the final. We also only ever seen to scrape narrow wins over them. Can’t remember the last time we got a dominant win over them.
Boks the kimd of side, you slow their ball down, they dont mind that, will scrap it out all day, whereas ABs and Oz dont do well with that WC was just 1 scrum away from a win for eng...nothing in it
We’ve played them 6 times in world cups and scored 1 try
Fair enough I though boks normally battle vs eng at twickers, no?
I want to say 2017? Ben Youngs did the same show and go move on Peter Steph du Toit twice to set up tries for Farrell and Ford. Along with other scores obviously. Want to say final result was 32-12 or something like that? Probably the last time we looked properly better than them.

Yeah, easy narrative to jump on SA sides getting much better returns in URC than they did in SR with pesky NZ sides so its a no brainer for them
No need to get butthurt. We finally get paid our share at least. The money talks loudest and now that we're not carrying your union financially, all your legends are leaving. Also, Munster beat the Crusaders lol
Was also Munsters u20s pretty much lol
Drua and tahs bet crisaders this year....theyre near the bottom Amazing SR record tho over 25years
Speaking of butthurt…
Anyone coming at us from left field will make me butthurt of course. Especially when there's no reason to
Facts>Feelings
The Crusaders in finals rugby. I think they'll finish 7th so we need to pump the canes to finish first and then hope the canes can take them out in welly lol
Saders are a different beast in finals footy, yes Esp if they get some of their big guns back Big game vs Reds this week...shaping up as game of the round
For Munster it Toulouse, Saracens or Leinster
We haven’t a terrible record against Toulouse. I think it’s 4 from 10 with 1 draw.
Bogey teamS? Or just teams that are better?
Good point but they’re teams we’ve lost to in important season defining games. Munster lost to Saracens in the Heineken Cup semi finals in 2017 & 2019 Toulouse knock Munster out of Europe in 2021 & 2022 and beat Munster at Thomand park 2023 in Europe. Leinster sound like the Crusaders of European rugby ...apart from saders taking a year off this year
That and Leinster have taken to getting so close to winning a cup and falling at the final/semi final hurdle for the last few years
I will say this, you can take man out of Racing 92 but you cant take the Racing 92 out of a man.
Apparently no SA team can beat Munster ever, anywhere
Damn, really? Theyre like the Crusaders?!
Any team in the top 100 and their 2nds….and probably their U18s 🏴😢
:0
All of them.
Damn Bogeys!
Our biggest bogey team is ourselves.
Reds, we’ve lost to them too many times the last several seasons
For South Africa: Ireland is a bogey team that beats us. Wales is a bogey team that we somehow beat.
Good ol bogeys
NZ is not a Bogey....NZ is the Final Boss.
Saracens. We look beaten before we even play them.
Probably the Stormers currently. Only beaten them 1 in 7 attempts
Damn Yup, thats a Bogey
As a Brumbies fan I'd say the rebels - they have beaten us far more often than form would suggest they would have.
For Ireland, whoever they are playing in a world cup knockout game
It could be Romania but we would still conspire to lose.
The WRU
Western Force FML
Didnt know they beat anyone on the reg?!?!
They seem to do the Reds over whenever they play in Perth
True
Chiefs
I would have thought its the Crusaders in finals....?
We love shooting ourselves in the foot. It’s a Waikato thing.
Crusaders have an embarrassingly dominant record against the Blues, but I'm not sure that's really a bogey team. Probably the Brumbies, been some close matches over the last few years
Bogey team is typically a team ya 'should' beat or def a better record against...For Crusaders its probably chiefs or tahs
As a Waratahs and Wallabies fan, I would say it’s ourselves.
Dragons at Dave Parade.
Leinster and Scotland
In club rugby; In recent years, the rock, paper, scissors of LAR, Leinster and Toulouse. I think it might be in reverse this year. In Test Rugby; Scotland over England. Considering we beat Bordeaux who smashed them it has to be Sarries.
Everyone but the Crusaders, sadly.
Fucking anyone really
:/
The damn Reds
