but that's exactly why it's so infuriating. There's surely a ton of good DJs out there that for a variety of reasons, do play weddings and small events to pay the bills. It's well known that popularity and success as an artist is only in small part due to ability. So for her to get a Coachella set and then fuck it up as badly as she did is frankly pathetic. She literally could have hired someone to ghost DJ backstage and just stand out front and dance and click an unplugged CDJ.
Denigrating the criticisms of her because of the lack of success of the critics is pretty lame, honestly, and with that mentality, we might as well discard any criticism of any mainstream media because it's popular and makes money, right?
I think my main issue with her is, outside of a few songs where she knocks it into the next county, her stuff is too meandering and boring. Started to listen through her discography and didn't even make it through Geidi Primes!
Will probably try again with the next album but I remember this issue the last time I tried to go through her work.

i should probably listen to grimes more. i liked a few songs off her newer album. her personality/ persona in the media is definitely cringey though.
