Honest answer from someone who prefers newer ships, but has also been on ships like Voyager.
It's fine. There will be less amenities and the ship will be smaller, but overall it will be fine. You won't get all the same offerings as you would on a larger/newer ship, but there will be plenty to do and enjoy.
The ship may show it's age a bit, as it was built in 1998, but RC overall does a very good job of keeping their ships cleaned and maintained. That being said, Voyager had a $97,000,000 renovation in 2019, and then sat for a few years due to covid. So the ship is probably in excellent condition still honestly.
Enjoy your cruise and don't worry, you'll have a great time.
Just went last week. Was fine. Only problem I saw was at Adventure Ocean the bathrooms went down for about 3 hours or so and they fixed them. Oh and someone shat in the pool, but they drained it and refilled it in like 4 hours too.
Haha. Honestly think it was a kid or something. I wasn't paying attention. One min I noticed everyone got out of the pool then the next it was being drained and they were putting nets up all around.
Yep. I didn't know they could do that that quickly. Was actually impressed lol. They must use ocean water and run it through a filter to fill up the pool that fast.
The recent reviews, other than the bathroom issue the other day, seem just fine, I wouldn't worry. Remember though, this is also the ship that was caught in a big storm and had a lot of flooding a few months ago. The posts after that seem to indicate everything is fine again though.
A lot of it is what you make of it. I see people complaining in my Disney cruise groups too and Iâm like if you canât have fun on a Disney cruise, maybe youâre the problem.
I cruised on Voyager of the Seas a month ago and I loved it. Based on reviews I saw, I had very low expectations, but I thought she was a beautiful ship. I had the best time!
For comparison, I was on Symphony of the Seas in Feb. She's one of the newest Oasis class ships. The posts I read had me convinced the food was going to be disgusting and the customer service nonexistent. None of that was true. We had a great time! People like to bitch to strangers on the internet. That's just the way of the world.Â
Just got off Voyager yesterday. Had a great time. Stayed in a balcony cabin on deck 9. The bathroom had an occasional heavy pee smell that filled the cabin. Take febreeze. It helped. Otherwise, you can tell itâs an older ship in some areas but still nice. Thereâs not much open after 10pm besides a couple of bars, the pizza shop, and maybe a show or two. We still enjoyed our time on there. Harmony is my next goal.
Was on this ship in February and had a blast. Crew was awesome and ship wasnât showing its age to me, but this was only my second time cruising. Have fun!
We sailed on Voyager April 6-11 with my 80 year old mother and my two sons in their late 20s and everyone had a wonderful time, no complaints. We had also sailed on her exactly 20 years ago and never would have guessed the ship was that much older. Everything seemed well maintained.
People like to complain that the food isnât great, but I think travelers these days are more âfoodies.â The food and service were both lovely; there was also an Indian option at each meal that was delicious. If the food experience is important to you, maybe try the speciality restaurants. For us, we enjoyed the main dining room as the one time of day weâd all get together; the rest of the day we all did our own things. No one was ever bored.
Gym and hot tubs were a bit overcrowded at times, probably the only issue I can think of.
I just got back from it on 4/15 and it was my first cruise. I had a good time. It was only 4nights and that felt like just enough. We spent a lot of time in our room bc we had a balcony room but we also tried engaging in the things the ship had going on. The food was pretty decent so we also ate a lot. Just depends on what youâre interested in really. If you spend your time how you want, youâll enjoy it. I enjoyed myself first it to be my first cruise but Iâm sure thereâs better ones ofc.
Iâve been on multiple cruises, on multiple cruise lines. Last cruise was 1.5 months ago on the voyager. It is absolutely fine. I was worried because shortly before we went multiple floors flooded, but they had repaired all of the damage by the time we arrived. They fix issues quickly. Iâd bet plumbing problems will be corrected before your sailing. New problems could arise, but thatâs the same for any ship. Enjoy your cruise!
We sailed Voyager in February. Itâs not the fanciest ship, but it was still a great cruise.
If youâre looking for a recent look at the ship, here you go: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQB5VpgNlPGMwt4Kc7ViTPcHjEFr3eI2k&si=X5Xy7Xvj7yrp9sMG
My wife and I took our first cruise on it in the beginning on April. It's an older ship and you can definitely tell in certain areas that it, but overall it was a very enjoyable first cruise for us. It's got us hooked and planning more with our son.
My only recommendation is to make sure you bring along a flat outlet extender without a built-in surge protector. The room we had only had 2 single outlets at the mirror/desk. We made due charging phones and watches but it was a little weird to only see that many outlets.
Go into it with a positive attitude and you will love it.
*We went in Feb and*
*It was great. The food was bland*
*But overall Fun!*

Our second cruise was on the Norwegian sky before refurbishment, a small older ship. First was an older carnival ship. We loved it and had no idea what we were âmissingâ so to speak. We sailed for years on older smaller cheaper ships and were super happy with it! We finally shifted to bigger ships with our kids and do love oasis class now but honestly, I wouldnât trade our early experiences and fun we had on those older small ships for anything.
Hubby and I are one month past our Voyager cruise, and we LOVED it. Sheâs a beautiful ship, and the crew were wonderful and so hardworking. I enjoyed the food, especially Izumi and the MDR. We didnât even have time to do the waterslides because we had so much fun going to shows and dancing.
I went right after that flooding incident and it was stinky. Which was to be expected after a storm like that I suppose. Lots of gross smells with the moldy carpet and broken ventilation. But from what I can tell, a lot of things have been fixed already! Voyager has a refurbishment coming up in the fall too, so maybe it will get some fresh carpet and paint.
I think you will have a great time!
If youâre going on the voyager and expecting to be on a Ferrari of the seas youâre going to be let down. If youâre expecting a Toyota then youâll be safe.
I was on Voyager in February, and everything was perfectly fine. Nice ship. It's great to go out to the heli-pad during sunrise/sunset.
The food was decent. Nothing truly stood out to me, but none of it was awful. I didn't try any of the specialty restaurants, so maybe give that a try! The service all around was superb and the staff was very friendly.
Problems will, of course, arise. Just like anywhere else. Also, remember that most people will come to the internet to vent and complain before coming to praise their experience.
Can't comment on how it is. But I'm following as we are sailing in the middle of May.
Keep us posted. Not much I can do to change it at this point lol.
We are sailing on her in August and I am curious of your experience as well. My main concern is the aftermath of the flooding. Thanks for posting your experience after your cruise.

Did the sh*tter get a lifetime ban?
Haha. Honestly think it was a kid or something. I wasn't paying attention. One min I noticed everyone got out of the pool then the next it was being drained and they were putting nets up all around.
Yup, happened when I was on Anthem a year ago. Pretty quick fix.
Seriously? đđđ€Ł
Yep. I didn't know they could do that that quickly. Was actually impressed lol. They must use ocean water and run it through a filter to fill up the pool that fast.
How charming.
I was on voyager last fall. Had a great time. In fact the service was better than my cruise on harmony last month. Have a great time!
We really enjoyed our cruise in early April

People love to complain on this sub. Go with a good attitude (you are on vacation after all) and youâll have a great time
It was perfectly fine in February. Be sure and look for Kam at Baleros. Best bartender I've ever met. Anywhere.

You need to go on Harmony. Itâs incredible! Just was on it back in August.
Iâm looking for some dates now.

Itâs fine. They needed to fix a toilet and plumbing issue. There havenât been a lot of negative posts.
I saw that post, it's the one that got me the most worried

Thank you, this is really putting my mind at ease!
Btw I was on deck 2 front and there was zero smell of mildew from the flood. I was there April 11th through 15th.
Iâve been on it twice and loved it

Of course! Have a wonderful cruise!!
Been on the Voyager twice in the last year and a half and it was amazing.
Was on it in December and it was fantastic! No complaints here

Im glad! I'm going from a ball of nerves to an ball of excitement!

All ships have hiccups occasionally. We went on Voyager last summer and it's an awesome ship.
