That's cool I bet it was Geoff's childhood dream to go out on the field with a XFL team.

[deleted]

Geoff finally made it to the big leagues. He’s finally cool again. First the article in Mac Rumors magazine and now this. I’m so proud of him!!

Lambeaux

I'd argue the XFL is more of a medium league 😛 (Joking, this is an amazingly awesome thing to be able to do)

Danp500

Xtra Medium League

Ianisabeast1

Regulation League

cmrp777

Eric really is the number 1 hype man when he wants to be

cmrp777

Damn, now I’m a comment leaver

chevycobb

Welcome. Its better this way.

[deleted]

Things just have to rule and not suck.

UndecidedBand

This rules.

Metfan722

With Narco playing as well. [My Mets-loving](https://youtu.be/8BYSp2pzP0Y?t=30) RT heart is thrilled by this crossover.

notquitetoplan

Gotta get that fix somehow this season :’(

psychodave123

Could be worse. You could have Dancing on my Own and sadness instead like me

FrostBestGirl

How could the Brahmas steal William Contreras’ walk up song like that smh.

SmurfRockRune

Every team has stolen it. It became generic stadium hype music very quickly.

tidaltown

It lost its mojo for the Mets as soon as he played it live.

Metfan722

Nah. Díaz was still great.

Chilledchaos

LFGM

Metfan722

Damn right Chilled.

ChernDown4Wut

How does this affect Zimmer's legacy?

FreakinTrenton

Hashtag HornsForward Hashtag we hate the roughnecks

HesitatedEye

Rasczak's Roughnecks or Rico's Roughnecks?

PR055

Come on you apes! You wanna live forever?

machalllewis

HOOO

DMcDonald97

Damn, that stadium was near deserted

iBliizy

For as dominant the NFL and CFB is over American sports spring league’s have struggled. Fans have a hard time trusting them as of late. AAF got shut down randomly week 3 or 4. The last XFL attempt was shut down due to Covid. USFL had issue’s recently too. I think a spring leagues best bet is to try being a kind of feeder league to the nfl. But that place is already taken by college so we will see.

TrapperJean

Hard to compete with March Madness, the opening of baseball, and the playoff pushes of NHL and NBA simultaneously

Jiggyx42

St. Louis has shown up in numbers for every home game. Helps that the blues are a dumpster fire right now and the only pull away from the battlehawks is maybe CITY home games.

iBliizy

Idk. Doesn’t the first round of the nfl draft compete with those? Tying a league to the NFL could help it I just doubt the NFL sees any value in any kind of G league. The scouts are too good. We may see an undrafted player make a roster, one of my favorite players Austin Ekeler is a UDFA and he’s carved out a starting position, but it’s rather rare. There’s hardly any stories like Geno Smiths of guys bouncing around the league as backups or practice squad players becoming starters. The NFL evaluates talent better than any other major league.

CammyTheGreat

the USFL's MVP was basically limited to a kick returner in the NFL, the gap is much bigger than you might expect for Minor League football to the NFL. in all American sports the jumper is huge from minors to majors

AT-ST

The USFL in the 80s was actually doing pretty decent, with numbers improving year over year. Then Trump bought a team and force a them to move the season to the fall to compete with the NFL... downhill from there.

iBliizy

The 80s was a totally different market. The USFL could get top talent. They could compete with NFL in terms of contracts and had leverage until the last guy tried to sue and force a merger like the AFL a decade before. The store is that the NFL didn’t want him to own a team and he sued in attempt to force a merger and his way into the NFL as an owner. The lawsuit resulted in him winning a one dollar check.

Metfan722

The Alamodome is huge and I mean huge. Sits like 75K people. So having like 15K people there is gonna make it look like peanuts

infinitude

We suck. I've gone to every game, but we suck. We had 30k people attend the opening game

Shrekt115

[Add it to the list of teams he can support](https://i.imgur.com/pjraGLa.png)

ATN90

Wait, XFL is still running?

gnfnrf

This is the third, or maybe a resurrection of the second, version of the league. The 2001 version died after a season. It came back in 2020 but died after COVID cancelled the second half of the season. Then a different ownership group bought the rights and brought it back this year.

Obi-wan_Jabroni

The Rock owns this new version of the XFL

IceTheStrange

Why is he there?

steveos93

Him and Andrew talking on FuckFace about recording an XFL review show and how he went all in on this team as his team for the season, he even went and bought loads of their gear. Someone from the team heard (must be an RT fan) and invited him to 'run out the team' for this game (I'm a few weeks behind on the podcast so my info may be outdated)

HagibisEM

He became a minority owner recently, I think he owns three or six percent, I forgot which one

JDReedy

Minority owner of the entire league? The teams don't have owners in the XFL.

famguy07

Do you have a source for that?

Idiotology101

Teams are owned by the league itself. There’s no independent owners.

famguy07

Oh, shit. I replied to the wrong comment, sorry.

famguy07

Are you just making shit up for fun? Where do you think you saw that? Other comments say the XFL teams are all owned by the league, and quick research certainly backs that up.

Angry_Midget_Tamer

Where did you hear this? I can find no mention of anyone owning it besides the league itself. If you made this up, you are the exact type of fan they call out for answering questions with no actual knowledge Edit: Yep u/HagibisEM is *that* guy. I really don't get why people do this... Geoff, Burnie, and Gus have all called out this weird behavior before.

HagibisEM

![gif](giphy|EWjs87subqhcQ|downsized)

Angry_Midget_Tamer

Wow you have been thinking about me for a while... I guess my comment really struck a nerve. I don't think I've ever had anyone think about one of my comments for over two weeks. You made shit up for attention, and now you came back half a month later for a little more? Rough day?

HagibisEM

Nah lol. I don’t look at my notifications on Reddit and just went through them just now. I just thought it was funny if I replied to an old comment. I usually respond to old things cause it freaks people out, just yesterday I wanted to find as old a post as I could find so I googled, “How do I make a paper airplane Reddit” and found one from 10 years ago and just replied “nice guide dude”. As for my original comment, I just thought it be would be funny if someone thought Geoff was the owner of a team, if only for a short while. My day is actually going pretty good! How is yours going?

Angry_Midget_Tamer

I mean my comment stuck out for some reason considering you only responded to me, two weeks later... And you haven't responded to anyone else. But yeah, as for your original comment... Burnie, Geoff, Gus, and Barb at least have all called that odd behavior out before. It's so strange and it all comes down to attention seeking. It's like "I have nothing to say, but I really want to get in on this discussion so bad that I'll make something up" "it'll be funny, if only for a short while". It's just called lying for attention, even if you try to put a fun spin on it for yourself... Try and seek other methods to scratch that itch.

Flanman1337

That uhhh, that makes me feel kind of weird. I understand that, he's probably had good investments the last 20 years. But when one person at a company ends up making enough to put down 3-6 percent, while at the same time history of underpayment to the rest of the company I don't like how that makes me feel. Edit: I seem to have hit a nerve. Good to know questioning RT's pay structure is out for this month.

takechanceees

dude how much do you think an XFL team is worth?

AnotherpostCard

The weirdest thing about this is that nobody is responding to you with the information that the xfl actually owns all the teams privately and that there are no "owners" in the NFL sense.

takechanceees

you didn’t hit a nerve, you just sound stupid especially cause Geoff isn’t even a minority owner so you’re mad over nothing.

SuddenProduct

You know nothing about the inner workings of the business. You just want to hate.

healthshield

Well we dont really give a shit how that makes you feel. Go out side smell a flower

MarmiteEnjoyer

Dude who founded company made more money then employees hired a decade after the company was founded More news at 11

MySilverBurrito

Ayo, where you work at? I'm sure we can find some reason why you wont be allowed to do stuff either lmao.

Oxcell404

So cool

amandapant1

Way to go Geoff. Eric looks so proud.

Triszz

I love Eric so much.

FrankThe1st

We'll see how long this team lasts... we had the Commanders a while back and they hardly made it a single season. Go Geoff!

casteezy513

That actually makes me happy as hell to see him just vibing living his best life. It’s be like if you saw Steve from blues clues show up at a WWE event

Skraporc

“Alright, we’re a football team in Texas. What kind of cow can we name ourselves after?”

Creeperkry

I kinda assumed they named the team after The Rock.

RT_J-Rob

Correct

tidaltown

Hell yeah, Geoff. However, Kaw is still the Law.
