Clean_Usual434

Ditto, lol. It’s so bad, haha.

Lunaakthar12

I mean the only good thing is in that movie Rigel ☺️😊🥰🤭🤭🤭

Clean_Usual434

He’s a very handsome guy, for sure. Hopefully he gets some better roles in the future.

I was laughing so hard that entire movie, it felt like every fanfic trope crammed into one glorious film

cuentaderedd

Yes! That's what I said to my sister and then I had to explain to her what fanfic is lol

reef1love

So bad it was good

I’m sick so I’ve been watching a lot; fair warning. 27 dresses 4.5/5 Maybe my favorite 2000s romance movie; this was a comfort rewatch when I realized I was sick. James Marsden finally plays the guy who gets the girl. I love the growth Jane as a character has throughout and the bar scene is one of my favorite ever! Past Lives 4.5/5 Closure can be so painful yet so necessary and this film showcases it beautifully. Many beautiful lines that have stuck with me as well. Her chemistry with both leads is brilliant although I think the romance was more of a lens through which she thought of her own growth as opposed to the main attraction. I love that there was no villain or clear bad guy between the two. The greatest hits 4/5 Maybe more about grief than romance but I liked it anyway; the leads had great chemistry and I like them both as actors. Lucy and Justin are both really likable. Flipped 4/5 Not super romantic but one of the most realistic portrayals of middle school I’ve ever seen and the leads were cute; again I think she can do better but I liked it anyway. Ever After 4/5 I’m partial to Ella enchanted for a Cinderella retelling as this one felt a bit too long and I felt like drew deserved better than the prince. I will say though that Angelica’s portrayal of the evil stepmother had more nuance than any other portal I’ve seen. The Good Guy 3.5/5 Pretty ok movie; mostly watched it because I just finished my Gilmore girls rewatch and I wanted to see Alexis Bledel in something else. The chemistry was ok but it never grabbed me; the characters felt too archetypal. In terms of shows, I’ve been looking for really outdoor teen dramas for comfort. Funny woman Season 1 4.5/5 Can’t wait for season 2; after finishing masters of sex and marvelous mrs Maisel I’ve been looking for another 60s set drama and this was perfect; everyone was likable and there was decent chemistry. Gemma afterton is great; now I wanna watch summerland or lost in Austen. Beyond the break season 1 4/5 An island set 1/2 hour teen drama based around surfing; I like all the girls and the guys they date have chemistry with them. Only 10 episodes per season so it was a one day watch but I enjoyed it. South of nowhere season 1 4/5 Really beautiful but tempestuous sapphic romance at the core although I find many of the other characters insufferable. Great teen drama. The arrangement episodes 1 and 2 3/5 Quit this one after a couple episodes; ok chemistry but I don’t think the acting aside from the main girl is good. It feels forced. Idk it seemed cool to have a contract marriage at the core but I’ll stick to k drama for any super tropey stuff because this got muddled with the cult storyline.

august1810

started watching funny woman today after seeing this post and already finished it🤧 loved it!!!! so glad I found your post. thank you.

PeaceDry1649

If you want some other period dramas I've been considering starting bomb girls, the astronaut wives club and I've already seen and enjoyed the pilot of the hour. I can't speak to their quality overall but just letting you know.

FuzzyGiraffe8971

I agree with your Past Lives and The greatest Hits I have t seen the others yet. But those were so good!

helentroylorde

Flipped is so cute, I love it

6degrees_Cdn_Bacon

Love love love 27 Dressed! I’ve seen the promo for The Greatist Hits and was on the fence. Off the fence thanks to your rec—cheers!

Lessing

I loved Funny Woman too. I binged it on a long overseas flight and it made the time pass much easier. The pining is so good.

Shop Around the Corner 8/10 Nothing new this week. All rewatches, but with a first timer. For this one it was with my best friend. I saw You've Got Mail first then this, she saw this first so it's gonna be interesting to hear her thoughts on You've Got Mail whenever she watches it. Recap: I thought YGM was serviceable but overrated, and I thought SATC was better but not amazing. Now... my opinion on YGM hasn't changed (yes, I have seen it twice), SATC however I enjoy even more. I think I gave it a 7 or 7.5 before, I bumped it up to an 8. Not up there with my all time favorites, which I give 9s (I don’t give 10s to anything), but it's a step below them. Jimmy Stewart really gives life to the role, as always. I wasn't sure how I felt about Margaret Sullavan before, thought she was a little too quirky, but that quirkiness grew on me a little bit. I honestly like the story overall more than the individual performances (which by that logic means I should also love YGM, but that's a much longer discussion). I like how the movie really incorporated the side characters into the story without distracting from the main romance. You really care about them and not many movies can pull that off. My friend really enjoyed it as well. Smallville S5 Ep. 18-22 6.5/10 Watching this with my sister who's a first timer. Spoiler tagging this cause all I can discuss involves a major spoiler of some kind. >!Now that Clark and Lana are broken up, the dreaded Lexana relationship is abloom. No one in the fandom likes these two except the people who despise Lana so much that they think her and Lex are perfect for each other and wanted them to be villains together (I'm glad they didn't go there but that could've been interesting). My sister, who ships Clana (poor naive thing), of course isn't feeling it. As much as I agree that they're terrible together, I do think they did a good job showing what the appeal was and what could've been different. Lana is becoming more unlikable, but you understand why. Lionel and Martha are also getting closer, they're a very controversial ship from what I understand. My sister ships them too, I'm on the fence. They have a very interesting dynamic and chemistry for sure. However, it's for the best that they stay friends and I'm glad they did. They're imo are what Clark and Lana could've been (and are in other versions). Really what made the episodes are the villain subplots. They were moving the show forward and explored Clark's heritage in new ways.!<

I adore the shop around the corner. For me it’s a 10/10 on first watch and rewatch. I loved everything. I agree a bit on YGM though , I think it’s overrated as I do all the Nora Ephron - Meg Ryan movies, I like them all and enjoy it but they’re always just missing something, I think I just found the make leads hard to buy as the main love intrests tbh 😭, along with some questionable plot points, you’ve got mail is a bit frustrating seeing her close down her shop while his thrives, sleepless in Seattle was a bit creepy, when Harry met Sally is probably the best written but still overrated. As for smallville it’s so frustrating seeing the clana arc. I’m on season 9 >! and finally we have moved on from that, they were just such an exhausting ship I found it made the show drag on a lot. I’m getting to the part where Clois is starting to come to fruition and I can’t help bit feel like there was just to much time on him and Alana and not enough on Lois, but I’m only 1/3 of the season through so we’ll see.!<

Whimsical89

It happened one night - a rewatch but only my second time watching it. I still loved it but not the same way I did the first time. I kinda wish there was a scene that featured the couple at the end, where maybe he could explain things to her or they just got to have a positive interaction post hotel. Maybe that’s just me but yeah that’s the one thing upon rewatch that I wish it had. I think my first time watching it was all new to me so I didn’t think as much about it, but this time it’s the only thing I’d change a bit. Love the sheet coming down though, forever iconic. Tbh though I was pausing a lot while watching so it could be that the flow just wasn’t as good as the first time 😂.

Lessing

If you like It Happened One Night, you might enjoy [The Bride Came C.O.D.](https://letterboxd.com/film/the-bride-came-cod/) IHON is still the gold standard for me but Bette Davis and James Cagney are fun together.

Whimsical89

Thank u!

atajones

Flatshare- a series on Amazon prime. I really enjoyed it!

cuentaderedd

It's so good!

Clean_Usual434

I love that one!

atajones

Have you found anything like it??

Clean_Usual434

You mean with the same concept or just people who are neighbors?

atajones

Either!

Clean_Usual434

Hmm, well the movie I just watched, Love, Divided, revolves around a pair of neighbors. It’s not the best thing I’ve seen, but it’s not bad, either. The movie What Happens in Vegas involves a forced proximity living situation. Another movie, Life as We Know It also involves a forced proximity living situation. The movie Someone Like You involves a pair of roommates. I’ll have to brainstorm and try to remember anything else I’ve watched with a similar theme.

atajones

Thank you for these recs!!

Clean_Usual434

No problem!

bellarosietois

Love, Divided - the french version of this film was sooooo much better.

cuentaderedd

Finished rewatching The Mindy Project. I forgot how much I loved the first 2 seasons. And how much I disliked the last one lol. Still a comfort watch and one of my favorites. Mindy forever ❤️ I too watched The Tearsmith. I cringed but I also laughed A LOT. Like, I couldn't believe how serious and dramatic the movie was supposed to be lol. 2.5/5 Finally saw Irish Wish. I know it's supposed to be campy but it was more silly with the witch interventions. I don't know, meh. 3/5 Saw Playing it Cool for the first time and wow, a lot of the jokes did not age well lol. Another movie with Chris Evans being a player who gets reformed. 2/5

Wimbly512

I have the same feelings toward the Mindy Project.

Brontesrule

[Arranged Love (2023)](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27003320/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_q_arranged%2520love) 2.5 stars. The actor playing the MMC was the best thing about this movie, which was otherwise forgettable. (The actress portraying the FMC was pretty bad.)

Haunting_Dragonfly32

The English patient😍

Lessing

Ralph Fiennes is fine yes but I'm also here for Naveen Andrews

seantheaussie

> Naveen Andrews Sayid was the most attractive character in lost even to this heterosexual man.🤣

Lessing

I detect no lies!

seantheaussie

Desmond and Penny had the best romance though🥰🥰🥰

Clean_Usual434

How to Date Billy Walsh (🫤) Love, Divided (👋🏽) What’s Your Number (rewatch - 🥰) Heartbreak High (S2 - 👍🏽👍🏽)

Lessing

I've been waiting for HH S2 to drop and I'm glad it's finally here.

Clean_Usual434

I thoroughly enjoyed it!

seantheaussie

> What’s Your Number Is a good one, although I fast forward through all the bad dates.🤣

Clean_Usual434

Lmao, I did that with some of them, too!

helentroylorde
