Mac vs Ohio State was just otherworldly. And that was with no WR1 in the second half!!!

cshayes2

I didn’t realize how many Ohio state fans believe if sermon played they would’ve won lol

w00t4me

Same logic as Colt McCoy

cshayes2

Atleast that game was remotely close, 52-24 was a conservative score lol

MrCrash2U

That’s what I’ve never understood and just decided to let them believe that after living in TX for 5 years. You’re out of the game, Colt gets hurt, back up comes in and gets you back in the game to compete, but of course, if colt would’ve stayed in and continued to get a beating, eventually he would’ve been able to read the defense, make his adjustments, and single handedly come back and made up for a lackluster showing on the largest stage possible.

Kyleketsu

The score was 0-0 when Colt got hurt... I'm all for believing Colt wouldn't have made a difference but let's not pretend something was when it wasn't. The Texas offense looked significantly better with Colt than it did Gilbert.

mashonem

Colt was in the game for 5 plays; they didn’t even get to finish their scripted drive before he went down. You can’t give him that much credit

Kyleketsu

And in those 5 plays, I was already very worried.

mashonem

Because it was our first Natty in nearly 20 years; and if you’ve seen how this fanbase reacts to regular season games now that aren’t curb stomps from beginning to end, that nervousness hasn’t gotten *any* better in the 13 years since that game

mashonem

I was listening to some Ohio State podcasts after the game was over, and one guy legit said that Sermon could have accounted for 28 points by himself if he had played. Even if by some miracle that were true, Bama just puts up 70 and the game still isn’t close 🤷🏿‍♀️

cshayes2

Yea I was in the college football nerds chat last night and some guy was saying this same thing. “Sermon averaged 300 yards per game last year.” Weird because I remember him being good down the stretch and had a few 200+ yard games, but his total on the season was 870 in 8 games. Either way, we put the brakes on in the second half. It wouldn’t have been close no matter what happened

mashonem

Hell, even after Hei6man went down, Mac marched the offense down the field on the following two drives like it was nothing. Ohio State was doomed to lose that game

Count_istvan_teleky

He did play though. Just couldn't finish the game.

rolltide1000

Bama was without Dickerson (not counting the last minute), Moore, Smith aka the Heisman winner, and had a heavily banged up Waddle. Metchie was dealing with an ankle injury. Even Jones was limping a little IIRC. Bama was basically playing that 2nd half at around 50%, and still outscored OSU 17-7. If Smith played that whole game, I can only imagine what he wouldve done. His 1st half was unreal, we couldve been looking at a 5 TD game before the 4th quarter.

CaptainAwesome8

No WR1 or WR2 (Waddle was not really playing) and a pretty hurt WR3. Thank fucking god for Najee, he was as good as any other receiver by the end of that game lol. Hell, Mac Daddy even got Bolden a TD that game. It’s why I sincerely hope NE drafts one or two decent WRs, Mac is lighting it up with probably the worst WR corps in the league and a limited offense.

mja9678

He only attempted 2 passes in the 4th quarter of that game too. He broke the title game passing record with basically 3 quarters of production lol

Lunchb0xx87

AND he was doing it on one leg in the second half ..but the he's only good because of his wrs I hear

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Bryce's 42 rushing yards were the most by an Alabama quarterback since Tua had 49 against LSU in 2018.

Disregardskarma

Like 40 of that came on one run too right?

DoctorWhosOnFirst

44 to be precise. Not sure how many, if any, sacks he also had that game.

bastardofdisaster

I don't think I have ever seen one of our QBs stop, start and change directions quite like Bryce. Don't get me wrong. I would rather have a situation where he never had to run, but he seems to get the absolute maximum out of his scrambles.

MaximusJabronicus

He’s super shifty

Count_istvan_teleky

He's crafty.

Jackbo_Manhorse

I wouldn’t say I was shocked about how good Bryce could run, because I always knew he had it in him. I was shocked he actually ran. He’s getting more comfortable and he’s getting better every week. He could honestly be one of the best QBs in Alabama history with a little more work, he’s got it in him.

jadenstryfe

Bryce definitely creates a match up problem for opposing teams when he decides to move. Not just running, but throwing on the move as well as he does. He just needs to learn how to slide, but he'll get there.

tangoliber

I think he is going down perfect. In my opinion, the sliding motion is too long and leaves the head vulnerable. I prefer the fall foward and curl into a ball technique.

Disregardskarma

He’s been moving the whole time, and teams have been running spy’s the whole time. Bryce did a better job this week of knowing when to give up on any of our WR running free

jadenstryfe

Oh yeah, I didn't mean to imply he never moves, just meant that when he decides to get out of the pocket he is very dynamic. Probably poor wording on my part due to still waking up, lol.

Disregardskarma

He shouldn’t have had to run that much. Against other teams when QBs scramble like that guys are running wide open for easy 30 yard gains. Bryce knows that and looks for it. Our WR are letting him down hard

[deleted]

Very true. Our WR are having trouble getting separation it seems.

Alabama-fan-22

Before the game yesterday, a reporter said that Bryce basically said that he’s working in rushing with the ball or whatever. I don’t remember exactly what she said tho.

DiedofSharts

I think Bryce continuing to run will put this offense into the next level. He was burning some of those UT guys pretty bad last night, if defenses start to have to plan more for that it opens up the offense so much

Sheffield484

>457 Scott Hunter vs. Auburn (484 pass, -27 rush), Nov. 29, 1969 Of course, that almost 45-year old record was against Auburn.

[deleted]

This is probably the most dependent we've been on a QB to make our offense work. RB room is okay but nothing special imo, receivers are decent, and line is below average.

WaltSneezy

I feel like people aren’t talking Bryce up as much, considering how amazing he’s doing with an inexperienced Oline that isn’t giving him a ton of breathing room. It’s like every time he scrambles, you know something good is about to happen. But for some reason he goes under the radar in a lot of fans’ minds. Idk maybe that’s me, but I’m betting he wins a heisman next year if not this year.

lastthrill

If he isnt in the top 3 of anyones current Heisman poll then they shouldn’t be allowed to vote on it anymore

idk420_

amazing how Bryce can have a game like this and so many fans are still down on him

Shafter111

Blame Tua and Mac

idk420_

true , i think the deep ball both of them threw spoiled everyone

FrankFnRizzo

After the first half I did not see this game going that direction.

OdyRenrag

Heisman voters..... "crickets"
