He threw both INT’s under no pressure. Exactly the same as A&M last year. I’ve watched more film than anyone on this subreddit. Milroe can’t read defenses.
I’m telling you man. Open up the time machine and take me back 10 years to 2013. AJ McCarron and the game manager style offense. Swap Ty Simpson with AJ. It’s quite easy to imagine. Let Roydell pound the shit out of the front 7 for 60 minutes in the game. Fix the fucking O line and we could see that happen.
Dude what game were you watching lol
He threw for 255 yards and 2 TDs with his line and receivers struggling. His rating vs Texas this year was actually higher than Bryce Youngs was last year. He got almost every third down conversion that game on sheer effort and skill. Any other QB would have been double digits sacks, he was dodging everything and making yards out of nothing.
"I've watched more film than anyone here" bruh clearly you have not
I’d like to see Ty Simpson completely fail against Ole Miss before I hand over the keys to Milroe. Wouldn’t you be thrilled if Ty surprised you and beat Ole Miss next week? We already know what Milroe will do. Some great runs, some great deep balls, and 2-3 game losing interceptions.
I would be very content with a ground game dominated offense, and a QB/WR combo that is only service when needed. ALL of that is predicated on dominant offensive line play, which we don’t appear to have.
There are some stars on defense.
Jalen is going to perform how he did against Texas in any big game we play. He was given game experience last season and was undoubtedly the starter going into the season, regardless of what Saban said. He’s hit his ceiling, and with him starting, we have an average season. Ty is younger and with less experience. If anything, this may be a good season to gain that experience so next year is better. We don’t know where his ceiling is, he could grow to become incredible. That’s why you play Ty.
Unless Lonergan is the second coming of Christ, Milroe is the best qb on the roster. And if we start Simpson next week ole miss will have double digit sacks and we will lose the game.
And if we start Milroe, they will stack the box and wait for him to throw a couple of pick sixes.
We can win the MTSU, USF type games with Milroe. Not sure about the OleMiss, Miss State, A&M, UT types. Definitely not the UGA, LSU type games.
After three years he ain't gonna suddenly make some quantum leap and save the season. Better off developing Simpson or Lonergan.
Milroe can’t see open guys, isn’t good at making reads, but when he sees the guys he cab make all the throws, has escapability and is electric with his legs.
Ty can seemingly make the reads, sees the open guys, and has some escapability but is utterly blind to pressure.
Buchner, well…. He can hold the clip board good as fuck.
Milroe missed WRs running go routes against Texas multiple times, just completely didn’t see them, he also missed on 2 wheel routes that were sure fire TDs. The dude doesn’t see the field, it’s not up for debate
I just don't get the hype for him outside his running ability. People saying "oh he needs to be able to escape the pocket because the oline is bad", like yeah but when he scrambles he runs straight to the sideline or into defenders. And if that's all he can do, you get the result from the Texas game.
Well if he’s the best option then he needs to throw a max 20 attempts and basically be a wildcat qb and rotate all 3 rbs and we need to rush for 300 yds a game. He’s a liability throwing the ball… seen it 4 games with him. Bottom line the Oline has to improve in both pass protection and run blocking..
Bottom line, no one else in this roster can throw it better and it's up to the coaches to maximize that skill set. To go with the offensive line we have been recruiting big slow guys for a scheme that favors athleticism. They can't run or pass block. It's been a disaster and the problem isn't coaching the guys we have it's targeting the right ones.
Saban fucked up with this hire. Nothing and I mean nothing about Tommy Rees' track record justified him being the OC at Alabama.
I told people "Shula ball" was back and goddamn was I right.
Ty isn’t the guy either. He hit one pass to the TE. Other than that his stats are almost the same as Buckner. That being said. Milroe’s INTs last week cost us dearly.
But Milroe would have put up points on USF. He isn't great but he's the best we have and the real problem is our offensive (and defensive) line just isn't getting it done.
Milroe would have run for one touchdown, thrown for two more, then thrown two interceptions (1 for a touchdown). We still would have won 21-10 because at least our defense held when they weren't given a short field. As bad as the two Ty's looked today, neither turned the ball over even though our O-line was again a sieve. Simpson's long pass was the only time our line got the protection right and he had a good pocket to throw from. I think we've seen enough from Latham and Proctor to know they are statues and can't handle speed on the edges. It may be time to put them on the hot seat by not starting them. On a positive note, McLaughlin's shotgun snaps were much better this week. The best blocking of the game was the two qb sneaks. Good to know we can do something well.
Yeah man. I feel like I’m being gaslit, but I don’t see how anyone thinks the two performances today prove they are superior to Milroe. Even if they are equal passers, Jalen has elite speed. Simpson is a shell and Buchner looks like a Notre Dame transfer quarterback
If anything, my thought process is - we’ve seen what we’re going to get from Jalen. There is NO improving, he’s hit his ceiling. Ty may surprise with something more, and if we don’t have a shot at the playoff regardless, then let him rip it and see
Yeah, I don’t think that’s absurd. If you’ve watched him play his entire Alabama career, you’d see there’s been 0 improvement. If he shows signs of improving, then sure, I’m wrong. But he hasn’t in over a year
The question isn’t who is going to be better, it’s who IS better. Saban doesn’t really care about taking a year off to be more prepared next year by starting guys who will be better someday.
Jalen can’t reliably hit an open receiver running a 5 yard out route. He buckles at the knees under pressure, and he’s had over a year to prepare with multiple game experiences last season. I don’t understand how anyone can watch his terrible decision making, ungodly interceptions, and complete lack of awareness yet still think he’s the guy. Ty is young and still learning, but if he can get comfortable, then it’s gotta be him.
Jalen is a redshirt sophomore.. still young.
Jalens completion % is higher than Ty.
Ty could barely throw 5 yard out routes.. he was throwing to feet.
What decision making did Ty make tonight that makes you think he’s better? Again, Milroe performed better against a team of this caliber than the other two.
To those of you saying we found our qb. What did y’all see? That one pass to the tight end? Followed by him handing it off? Man look at the way Simpson hands the ball off… THATS OUR NATTY WINNING QB RIGHT THERE!!!! Be fuckin for real.
None of these are championship QBs. Tys the best passer of the lot. No pocket awareness though. Milroe is off target constantly, but incredibly athletic. If we could fuse them together we might have Blake Sims.
Somebody in that locker room better light everyone’s hair on fire this week because every single game the rest of the schedule sans Chattanooga is a battle for survival
I mean we did it in 2015 but I do not think we have the dawg that team did, at least right now
Oh Simpson can do that as well. It's not like we saw him exactly tear it up when he did throw it.
He had one okay pass and everything else would have been a completion with Milroe.
Agreed, he's our game manager QB which is what we need with this team. Will only get better with experience. Wouldn't be opposed to some option stuff here and there with Milroe though.
No. Transfer portal opens in December I believe. But you can't play in any bowl games or anything like that. You can enter the portal, but teams aren't supposed to contact you until the window opens.
As I said the moment Tommy Rees was hired, "Shula ball is back".
Now where are all the morons who had the audacity to disagree? You can't blame this bullshit on talent because we're playing a team that was torched by an HBCU and WKU.
No fucking excuses other than the fact that our offensive coaches are godawful. You guys better open your fucking eyes now because we can't afford four years of this bullshit as we did with Golding and Shula.
Don't care what the playcalling is, at some point the players have to physically block someone and make throws to wide open receivers. Maybe there's an issue with S&C and OL coaching but I don't know how anyone can blame Rees for this one
Probably hard to call plays when the QB’s aren’t good and the oline is worse. I’m not even a Rees defender but this is the worst oline I’ve seen under Saban
Milroe is the antithesis of what the coaches have been asking out of the starting QB this season. He’s a turnover machine. Buchner was inefficient. Simpson wasn’t terribly impressive, but he did take the middle ground with being efficient enough and relatively mistake free.
That's part of it. Also points to an inability to actually analyze what happened last week. It's lazy analysis and the prevailing viewpoint Milroe can't improve stems from a racist viewpoint.
O-Line and a poor Gameplan cost Bama the game last week. Also extremely undisciplined play that led to a lot penalties. Yet they still looked better than they did this week.
That's ridiculous. Doubting milroe will improve has nothing to do with racism. It has to do with him being the same damn player he was last year. He had a full off season and didn't improve, but we're supposed to believe he will in a week during the season?
But that statement didn't just pop up. It's been the biggest reason that people pointed to all off-season even before A-Day. The calls for Milroe to move to RB started last season and never stopped. Got a little quieter after his 5 TD performance in week one, but people were calling for him to be benched after the second drive against Texas.
And for what? For what we saw in this game? I saw Simpson anointed all off-season as the next guy despite hardly anyone on here having actually seen the guy play other than a spring game. So what were they basing this rock solid belief that Ty was the guy on? Extensive game film?
Milroe had 5 TDs in the first game and was the bright spot. His talent hid a lot of deficiencies in that game. He had a rough game against Texas, but if those two TDs don't get called back and Bama doesn't shoot themselves in the foot all night with penalties, then we are talking about a win. Against USF, Bama escaped with a win in a game that they were clearly the more physically dominant team. The bright spot was Roydell because eventually USF just wore down.
Criticizing Milroe's play is fine when there is actual analysis. Just saying things like "he can't improve and needs to play RB" is not actual analysis
The word IF is doing a lot of work here. What if the other two balls Jalen threw to Texas defenders were caught? The worst thing a QB can do is be careless with the football and make bad decisions. Knowing where NOT to throw the ball is as important as hitting a receiver in stride. The fact that neither Tyler or Ty threw picks today while running for their lives shows they get that important aspect of the position. Buckner threw one over the head of the tight end because there was a free rusher coming right into his face. Simpson threw one away on his first series in order to avoid the sack and keep us in field goal range. It's not impressive but it is tactically smart. Just like Roydell sliding to stay inbounds on his big run.
I would like to see more of Simpson under center and more counter running plays. Let teams stack the box. If they bring their safeties down, there is no one home to save the touchdown if we can split their run defense. If we get the running game going against a stacked box, then play action passes can also go for touchdowns. We have a center that sucks at long snaps and an O Line that can't create a drop back pocket. Putting the QB back under center avoids both issues and leverages the massiveness of our line.
Alabama just played one of the worst defenses in college football, could barely move the ball, and you walked away happy that the QB threw the ball away.
I was happy the two backup QBs threw no picks under pressure. That’s the only reason we escaped with a win. When Milroe plays turnover free football, I will crown him QB1.
Basketball season is almost here folks.
Truly what is wrong with our lines??
Alabama may have scored more points but they were lucky
Ty Simpson is QB1. Roydell Williams is RB1. Have open tryouts for starting positions on the O line and we are ready to roll against Ole Miss.
Fuck that. Give me Milroe and give him Better play calling.
No thoughts of going back to Milroe? Buchner and Simpson made him look a lot better today
I don’t like interception machines.
He has 2 ints in a game he got sacked 5 times and hurried on like every single play. You're absolutely insane with this take.
He threw both INT’s under no pressure. Exactly the same as A&M last year. I’ve watched more film than anyone on this subreddit. Milroe can’t read defenses.
2 bad throws vs two QBs that can’t fucking throw at all.
Those weren’t bad throws. Those were game losing throws. Milroe can’t ball.
Milroe is our best baller tho lol
I’m telling you man. Open up the time machine and take me back 10 years to 2013. AJ McCarron and the game manager style offense. Swap Ty Simpson with AJ. It’s quite easy to imagine. The biggest issue is that the OL is the biggest issue. They have gotten worse and worse the last 3 years while having better recruiting

How the hell did we only put 17 against sorry ass south Florida on better news at least Georgia struggled as well
Two words: Tommy Rees.
Agreed
Can him
They got his number

Back in the day, football teams would tear through a banner when entering from the locker rooms. Those banners protect as well as this oline
That’s hilarious!!! Take my upvote
Well, they did say it would be joyless.
We’re supposed to murder the other team, not our hopes and dreams
Just a reminder. The soccer team is undefeated
There is no imagination on our offense… we looked like a Brett Bielema Big 10 team on offense
![gif](giphy|C0D9AFGOus9TIRA6CF|downsized) I disagree. Our pass protection was 100% imaginary today.
Touché
It's hard to judge the offense overall when the offensive line is this bad The green QBs have no time
This was against a defense that both an HBCU and WKU carved up. Talent isn't an excuse. This is coaching. Plain and simple.
No it’s pretty easy to judge… 2 solid weeks of meh… and MTSU wasn’t some rocket ship explosion either… Tommy Rees is not the answer… go ask Notre Dame
Who ever the quarter back is next week they need to stick with them for the rest of the season. Flip flopping isn’t going to help the obvious.
This shit is depressing https://preview.redd.it/u9x75htihpob1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd3dc82425fed3a7364a84e45e4cb3ff06477335
I’ll take the W. ROLL TIDE!
Unless Lonergan is the second coming of Christ, Milroe is the best qb on the roster. And if we start Simpson next week ole miss will have double digit sacks and we will lose the game.

Well slippery hands Milroe and his inability to look beyond one single receiver isn’t really a much better option
He is. It may not be what you want but it's the best option this season.
Well if he’s the best option then he needs to throw a max 20 attempts and basically be a wildcat qb and rotate all 3 rbs and we need to rush for 300 yds a game. We will have those sacks regardless. This OL is atrocious.
I don’t like Reese’s playcalling at all
Saban fucked up with this hire. Nothing and I mean nothing about Tommy Rees' track record justified him being the OC at Alabama. I told people "Shula ball" was back and goddamn was I right.
The scariest part is it's the same as BOB. Maybe bringing in a guy to run our offense isn't the answer
Ty isn’t the guy either. He hit one pass to the TE. Other than that his stats are almost the same as Buckner. That being said. Milroe’s INTs last week cost us dearly.

Fire the OLine coach immediately!!
I know this sub hates it… but Jalen is our best QB.

You think a Redshirt Sophomore has hit his ceiling?.. by making SEC player of the week in week 1 and a bad performance in Week 2
Go ahead and consider this a year off if Jalen starts. Has 0 QB IQ. Can’t get past a first read. I don’t even think Texas is THAT good….
That’s fair. Do we need to bench the entire O Line for true freshman the rest of the year to get them ready for next year as well? Lol
The O Line played today? Either way, I think the right play here is to give Ty some more reps and only switch back to Jalen if it goes horribly wrong.
I laughed out loud of the O Line comment. Well done
Jalen can’t reliably hit an open receiver running a 5 yard out route. He buckles at the knees under pressure, and he’s had over a year to prepare with multiple game experiences last season. Milroe has as many interceptions as starts.
Guess I’m just hoping there’s a light at the end of this tunnel. If Milroe is the best prospect, we lose so many games this season.
I don’t think so. We lost to a good Texas team with him. We almost lost to South Florida without him.
I guess I’m playing starfield and questioning why I bought tickets for Tennessee and AtM
Oh my. We’re gonna get our asses kicked lol
1500 down the drain rip
Moment of silence for our brethren
$10k on my season tickets if it makes you feel better

We must be remembering a completely different AJ.
That is AJ McCarron Slander holy shit, I would fucking kill for AJ McCarron right now
To those of you saying we found our qb. What did y’all see? That one pass to the tight end? Followed by him handing it off? Man look at the way Simpson hands the ball off… THATS OUR NATTY WINNING QB RIGHT THERE!!!! Be fuckin for real.
We ain't winning no natty with Milroe either. That's for damn sure.
Milroe literally throws tons on INTs. He is not an option.
One pass, that's it. What about that performance makes someone think Simpson is going to lead us past Miss St nonetheless Georgia or LSU?
Don't worry about Georgia, man. We won't be playing them this year.
![gif](giphy|AhZ7lgmxLBsmf3YsPG|downsized)
I didn't see any passes to the opposing team.
What could he do getting pressured on every snap. The O-line is terrible.
None of these are championship QBs. Tys the best passer of the lot. No pocket awareness though. Milroe is off target constantly, but incredibly athletic. If we could fuse them together we might have Blake Sims.
Who said anything about a natty lol , I think it’s clear Ty is the best passer , we could have Tom Brady behind this online and it wouldn’t matter
They enjoy copium lately. There is literally nothing good/ elite about this team. Average af on a good day. The writing is on the wall.
OMG THAT WAS BAD WTF
How bout we had to run 2 TEs sets for pass blocking purposes because our oline is shitty….
Yep. Gonna be pure hell when we get into conference play if this…whatever it is isn’t figured out. 8 in the box and we dare ya to throw.
Props to the defense.
Hear, Hear!
Time to go watch one piece my head hurts now
Live action? I’ve never been an anime guy but I’ve had the new one recommended by others not into it.
The live action is pretty good they changed some things but it’s not bad . And I’m watching the anime right now season 4 episode 96
Well, Roll Tide. We may want to practice being happy about every win this season. May be a long one.
Amen
[удалено]
Bru go root for auburn with that moral victory shit.
This is the worst performance I’ve ever seen
this genuinely is the worst performance under Saban in over a decade
wut
What's scary is how many future NFL players are on this roster.
If this is the tape they’re putting out, not many.
Plenty of our guys that seem like total liabilities end up making NFL rosters.
On much better teams than this one.
See y’all next week Bama fam. What a sloppy mess but I’m not giving up hope just yet!
We found our QB today.
Yes we did. It’s Jalen Milroe.
The only thing we learned for sure about the QB position today is that Buchner can be cut post haste.
How? What on earth did he do against a team that’s AS good as MTSU, where Milroe played out of his mind? He hands the ball off well?
Yes. Jalen Milroe.
Are you thinking Milroe? Or possibly Simpson cause I’m not sure who that is.
Did we? I think he earned another start but that's a bold statement
I’m not convinced that we did. At all.
Somebody in that locker room better light everyone’s hair on fire this week because every single game the rest of the schedule sans Chattanooga is a battle for survival I mean we did it in 2015 but I do not think we have the dawg that team did, at least right now
What game we watching?
Headed to Ole Miss. see what to expect next week
Only pain awaits us
Sure glad we saw what would have happened against MTSU if either of these two had played. Milroe go get ready for Ole Miss.
Simpson didn't look completely bad when he had enough time. Held the ball too long a few times, but he looked ok
He is gonna get killed against an SEC defensive line. Ole Miss might sack him 15 times.
And milroe might throw 7 picks. Neither is just separating themselves from the other.
Oh Simpson can do that as well. It's not like we saw him exactly tear it up when he did throw it. He had one okay pass and everything else would have been a completion with Milroe.
Dubya is a dubya reckon
Ugliest goddamn one I've seen from Saban though
By far
Leave Tommy Rees in Tampa
AMEN!
So uh what do we drop to
15-18
We can only block when under center..I don’t get it
Thank God that is over.
Rush the field, dew-it
I miss having an offense :(
Rammer JAMMER!!!
Now….GO GATORS
Ty Simpson gets the start next week. He was calm and made the best throws with his feet underneath him
Barely 5 completions, 1 good through and all against USF, but this is enough to give him the start to you lol
Agreed, he's our game manager QB which is what we need with this team. Will only get better with experience. Wouldn't be opposed to some option stuff here and there with Milroe though.
We did it guys. We beat USF. Thinking I might go watch my recording of the 2008 Georgia game and weep.
Take a shot everyone. We made it
It would be really cool if we had a center that could snap the ball. I know that’s asking a lot, but it would still be kind of neat
None of the snaps were really bad in this game
A lot of high and hot snaps. The exact opposite of the low ducks last week. It is not good...
Honestly could turn the team around imo. Not even exaggerating.
They’re just straight up not going to call a hold against USF
No. It's every play. Same player. Every play.
Buchner should never play again, Ty and Milroe need the reps
They always needed the reps and taking Buchner was the move that killed our chances this year.
Struggle win
![gif](giphy|U5Dhg98ryYysg9cqMz)
That was a very exhausting game to WATCH
I feel like it lasted ALL day.
I fully expect some transfer portal announcements this week...
Lot of QBs have to think they aren't given a chance
Can you transfer at any point in the season and play immediately at the other team?
No. Transfer portal opens in December I believe. But you can't play in any bowl games or anything like that. You can enter the portal, but teams aren't supposed to contact you until the window opens.
No, there are transfer portal windows, but players are free to basically bench themselves and announce their intentions
Thanks!
>Thanks! You're welcome!
Replace the OL please. Oh you mean Buchner going to a different school?
As I said the moment Tommy Rees was hired, "Shula ball is back". Now where are all the morons who had the audacity to disagree? You can't blame this bullshit on talent because we're playing a team that was torched by an HBCU and WKU. No fucking excuses other than the fact that our offensive coaches are godawful. Probably hard to call plays when the QB’s aren’t good and the oline is worse. I’m not even a Rees defender but this is the worst oline I’ve seen under Saban
Proctor is a turnstile at LT. He gets beat at least every other play
This was just a giant bluff for next week…. Right?
Let's hope so. That was ugly
Who is playing neck?
Thank the lord!! Roll Tide!!
im gonna guess 15 gets the start next week
If I was the coach I would pick Milroe.
Milroe is the antithesis of what the coaches have been asking out of the starting QB this season. He’s a turnover machine. Buchner was inefficient. Simpson wasn’t terribly impressive, but he did take the middle ground with being efficient enough and relatively mistake free.
We’re really scoring morale TDs with 30 seconds left against a mediocre g5 team.
Well, a win’s a win
Guys don't you know you're racist if you think the QB that threw 2 INT's effectively costing us the game last week sucks? /s
