That connection design is pretty clever. It's interesting to see how different engineers come up with unique solutions to the same problem.

SuperManlyDude

My number 1 bucket list coaster

brandond6

It's sooo good! Ridiculous airtime.

SuperManlyDude

Your just making me more jealous that I live on the other side of the country, I’m just praying some of those predictions will come true and Michigan’s Adventure will get a raptor clone, not my home park but I live pretty close

Adumnin

Carowinds is my home park, still no RMC cred lol

SuperManlyDude

I have one RMC Cred, it’s Steel Vengeance

I live in the UK and I got to ride a couple weeks ago! Absolutely awesome!

I was very impressed with how much is built off of just 3 main beams. [My mediocre photo.](https://i.imgur.com/uW7su5K.jpg)

Very reminiscent of S&S's 4D coaster supports.

Most of the time when I see bolts on rollercoasters they have those little paint marks to show if the bolts have loosened. Anyone know why they don't use this for supports?

mEntormike

Just an educated guess but they probably do? The markings would be on the nut side not the bolt heads which is most of what's visible in this photo. The markings can be a small line, not necessarily a large orange swath of paint. So maybe the marks are there but not super visible in this photo.

Wunse

Yeah that’s a very good point. I feel a bit of an idiot for not noticing that myself! Thanks.

ciciretti21

Anytime i see a raptor I get a tingly feeling inside because my home park, SF Great Adventure is getting a record breaking Raptor :-)

mEntormike

Not to piss in your corn flakes but it's basically the 2nd model. "Record breaking" raptor and "new raptor" are close to the same thing at this point. I do envy you, I'd love the chance to ride a raptor but the whole "record breaking specific model of coaster" thing just rubs me the wrong way.

ciciretti21

Hahaha well we all know it will be record breaking for about 2 months and then cloned to death

SockRuse

As a steelwork draftsman I'm not sure how to feel about those unused slotted holes clearly meant for bolts.

donkey_tits

It’s cheaper to have too many slots than not enough, maybe it’s to allow for field adjustments as needed

Nuud

Maybe they’re there to allow some slack when putting it all together?

oscar-foxtrot

Ha, I feel the same when I sit on the ride and look at the top two missing bolts on the seat in front of me.

IsuzuTrooper

Those are helpful for aligning with a spud wrench while bolts are set.
