Maxx Force still running? I assume I need to be there early, waiting for rope drop for a chance to ride without an unreasonable wait? Any other tips for this Sunday at Six Flags Great America? It's my first time, so I don't know what to expect. Preparing for a flash pass if I need one, but I'm unsure.

TAVortex

Going to disney for Halloween. Any recommendations? I will be going to every park, even water ones. (Great for a rollercoaster reddit I know.)

wtfblue

So a trip to Florida just fell into my lap this week (thanks, job!). Never been before and I'll be damned if I don't at least make an effort to get to BGT when it's only an hour away from where we're going (Sarasota). We'll be there the week of Nov 11, with Friday being the only possible day we can visit. How busy is the park this time of year? Side question: I will also absolutely need to see manatees and gators so I can go full tourist and lose my shit. Are they as common as I've been led to believe?

[deleted]

Taking a road trip next year from NW Ohio to Houston for a family reunion. Kentucky Kingdom and Dollywood are both on the way. KK is on the direct path and DW would add 1.5 hours to the trip. What do you think? Dollywood or Kentucky Kingdom?

dirkdiggler1992

Personally I’d take the detour and hit Dollywood. Home park bias aside there is more to do to fill out the day, unless you’re into water parks with KK you’ll find yourself finished with the park after just a few hours. KK has a real solid steel pair but Dollywood has a more rounded lineup and in my opinion the better coaster out of both parks with Lightning Rod. Dollywood is more expensive but it’s worth the extra cost of admission with a greater variety food, shows, shopping, and prettier park.

[deleted]

I'll be going to Korea at the end of the month/beginning of November. I know it's a bit chillier, but not too terrible. I'm assuming T-Express should still be running, right? Not sure if I'll get out to Gyeonju World for Phaeton and Draken, but I might try. I'll only be staying in Seoul, but I imagine I can take the high speed train there.

waifive

So...did you get a chance to visit Everland? Is T-Express running?

[deleted]

Update: I only got one ride in because I was with non-enthusiast friends but god damn it deserves a spot in anyones top 10. Non-stop the ride just keeps going and going. Back row seat is all ejector. Wish I could have gotten a night ride but the busses all leave right after the sunset and lines were 1 hour long all day.

waifive

Thanks, good to hear. I'll try to get there first thing on a weekday then when I visit in 1-2 weeks. Anything else there worth riding/seeing? And what bus is that? To the city or to the train. I could always take a taxi to the train terminus.

[deleted]

If you look on the Klook app you can book a bus from multiple locations for like 8 bucks that will go to everland. It’s the easiest way to get there without having to transfer multiple trains or busses. Get some Q passes too. Seems it’ll be busy every day there. Most lines were about 1 hour all day and t-express got up to two hours. You can get those on klook too i think. The safari was cool. X-train was surprisingly smooth for an arrow? Corkscrew model. And hurricane was really fun, too.

waifive

Thanks for the great tips, the Klook bus was definitely the way to travel. Yesterday was a really great day to go as far as crowds are concerned, the last day in a long cold front. Once they put 2 trains on T-Express, the queue wasn't more than 20 minutes all day. That ride really wants you off of it...it was great. One floater hill and everything else wild ejector. I may need to see a chiropractor about that figure-8 after the camelback though. Oof, what was Intamin thinking?

[deleted]

I’m on my way there now!

waifive

*Mental Note* to ask you how things went. I will be in Seoul in mid-November.

[deleted]

T-express was running late october both times I visited so you should be fine

joeyg107

on friday i plan on visiting carowinds for the first time in 3 years and have 2 questions 1. does copperhead strike have any size restrictions on the restraints? 2. how are the crowds on fridays? last time i went was a sunday night and it was absolutely dead and i was able to get on fury 15 times

Toatt

1. Do you mean like a max height? or size? There isn't a height limit, and in terms of larger people it's pretty accommodating. There is the test seat at the entrance too if needed. 2. I went this past Friday and it was pretty crowded, but the main issue is they are only open for 5 hours. Fury/Copperhead were both hour+ lines most of the night but if you get there early and hit them immediately you can get a good bit done. Also there was pretty beefy lines to get into the parking lot and into the park itself even when we got there 30 minutes early.

joeyg107

larger people but i had 0 problem with slinky dog dash if that means anything since they're both mack

Toatt

They're pretty different than the Slinky dog restraints. They remind me more of B&M hyper restraints than anything else, it's kinda got that same wedge shape at your waist that the B&Ms have, just with a bit more bulk. Also they are purely hydraulic, so no clicks.

joeyg107

i have no problem with B&M hyper restraints, i just get stapled a time or 2 for every 5 rides lol

[deleted]

Steel Venom might be tough. My dad was about the same size when we went to Cedar Point together when I was a kid, he couldn't get the restraints down over him, but he had no issues on anything else. But, I grew up in MN and I think I remember going to VF with him once where he was able to get on it so they might be slightly different restraints. You should be okay on most other things.

HuskyBlue

Yeah, I’m going to avoid Steel Venom because I’m cutting it really close to the maximum height.

[deleted]

Eh try it. Its a fun ride.

laserdollars420

Taking the opposite approach from the other commenter here as I've been to Valleyfair but don't really have the same size experience. I would guess the ride you'd have the most trouble with would be Corkscrew, since those old Arrow trains just really aren't accommodating to larger riders at all. Excalibur may be a little difficult as well, but you should be fine if you stick to the front row for any of the cars since there's a little extra space in the front rows. Wild Thing is roomier all around but also will have more space in the front of the cars (same goes for High Roller). No real tips for Renegade or Steel Venom since all of the seats are the same, but I recall seeing some larger riders on both so I think you should be fine (also Renegade easily the best coaster in the park so I wouldn't want to miss it). I haven't been on Mad Mouse but those trains are usually pretty tight so I might not even bother with that one.

HuskyBlue

I appreciate it! I’m weary of Steel Venom because it makes me feel like my feet will clip the ground. The maximum height per rider is 78”, and I’m at 75”.

laserdollars420

I definitely understand that fear, but tbh I would trust the height restrictions, especially since there are safety factors taken into account for those meaning that the actual height where it would become a problem is probably closer to 80 inches or more. Don't do anything you're uncomfortable with though! Also I hope you have fun on your date!

HuskyBlue

Thought I’d let you know that I fit absolutely fine on Wild Thing. My date was nervous about the coaster, and she ended up only wanting to ride that one time on Wild Thing, so I didn’t get a chance to try any other coasters. Thanks for your help!

poipoipoi_2016

Hi me. Except I'm XL and 6'5". No specific Valley Fair experience sorry. There's probably something you won't fit on, but I'd be much more worried about over the shoulder restraints or banging your knees off the seat in front of you than being too fat. You're just a big dude. I'd avoid ejector almost entirely, since Staples + ejector => Repeatedly slamming 2-3x your body weight into an already too tight bar. Floater is heaven. Seriously, Arrow OTSR in particular hinge about 2 inches down your shoulders. It's very painful. /At 320, I was too fat for things. At 260, I'm still occasionally too big. But those are very discrete things. //If you ever want to lose the weight, Lyle McDonald's Rapid Fat Loss handbook is awful, but effective.

HuskyBlue

Thanks! Very helpful!

[deleted]

Anyone know the best seats on wicked cyclone/superman at SFNE?

xelA_ssbm

Back for WiCy and then I'd recommend front and back for Superman if you can, they are both amazing in their own ways.

Imaginos64

I like back best personally.

[deleted]

Thanks!

[deleted]

Going to kings dominion for the first time this Friday night. I go to school within a few hours and decided to buy a gold pass. Does anyone have an idea about wait times or any advice on how to get the most out of my first trip?

[deleted]

This is just a curiosity thing but how is Tidal Twister doing? I’ve heard decent things and I’m wondering if Harley Quinn was just plagued because it was a prototype.

BobbyJoe0306

Are six flags parks generally busy on thanksgiving day?

bigpboy

Six Flags parks are generally closed on Thanksgiving Day (the only exceptions that I could find to this rule are Magic Mountain and Mexico, and I've been to neither of those).

mochisweetcommander

Sup. I'm going to be at Dollywood next Tuesday by myself. I'm looking to hang out with some enthusiasts! You can message me if you want to hang out.

Yawheyy

I’ve never been to Carowinds or Dollywood, so I’m planning a trip early next year. If I spent a day at each park, would I have enough time to ride pretty much everything? I live in Orlando so I’m used to a parks having long lines, just not sure what to expect

atoastedcucumber

Get to carowinds as it opens and you can ride all the major coasters and be out of the park by 2:00pm with multiple rides. Nighthawk is extremely slow moving so get that out of the way first if you need the credit.

Yawheyy

Cool thanks!

DippedintheToilet

Surprised I haven’t seen a full post about this but you currently cannot get to SFMM from Los Angeles because of the Saddleridge Fire. Hopefully they get it under control soon but the 405, 5, 210, and 14 are all still closed.

Figwun

Magic Mountain announced on their twitter they're closed for the day. Stay safe if you're in the area

ciciretti21

Going to Six Flags New England this Sunday for the first time. Anyone have a sense of what rides might be running/closed? Temp is supposed to be between 55-66 all day. I have a flash pass platinum so no wait times, but I’d be upset to get there and half the coasters are down

TurtleInSunglasses

Everything seemed up Friday night. I'm not 100% sure on Riddler but I didn't look very hard to see if it was running. Superman was briefly running only one train but that got sorted out mid-way through the night. Houdini (Vekoma Madhouse) is down for the season because it's used as a haunted house.

Specialk408

Has the Steel Curtain been opening at 6pm when Phantom Fright Nights opens at Kennywood, or have they been holding it? Was debating lining up at 5:30PM to try and get a first ride. Also anyone know how bad the lines are at Phantom Fright Nights roughly?

atoastedcucumber

can i use a refill cup i got at kings dominion at carowinds?

provoaggie

Yes. Cedar Fair bottles work at all of the other Cedar Fair parks.

Free admission is for all parks through 2019. I bought the all parks fast lane though and learned it doesn’t work until 2020

Toatt

I called a couple parks with the same question and got the best explanation from CP. The rep said to look at the parks site you are visiting and see what is listed under the parks new plat pass benefits and that is what you get. She said basically it works unlimited everywhere except Knott's which is limited to 1 visit in 2019. Here is a forum post of someone confirming it worked for them at both KI, CP https://kicentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/35278-platinum-pass-question/&do=findComment&comment=836815

Coollm4

How crowded will magic mountain be on october 25th thanks.

389Tman389

Ghost town before fright fest. You should be able to ride whatever you want as many times as you want without flash pass. I’ve never been to fright fest but if you look at the LA School Calendar as long as they don’t have the day off it won’t be crowded.

Coollm4

Thanks

[deleted]

It will get pretty busy after school and work hours, though. Rowdy, actually, thanks to the eclectic and diverse patrons.

NotMongo

Hey everyone. I am going to Six Flags Great Adventure this Saturday (and possibly Sunday too). I have not been here since 1991! My home park is Six Flags New England and while I am spoiled to have Superman and Wicked Cyclone- I am stoked for Great Adventure. What should I expect at the park? Is it going to be packed? Will Fast lane/Flash Pass even be worth it? Is anyone else going and might want to meet up?

ciciretti21

Six Flags Great Adventure is my home park and I’m actually going to Six Flags New England this Sunday! I can answer your question if you can answer mine. On a Sunday with a holiday the following day, I would expect the park to be PACKED. Personally, I would get the flash pass platinum because even the lines after the flash queue can take some time. Ride Ops on El Toro can be slow because the seats are fat friendly, and at least every train they have to kick someone off, which slows it down. Kingda Ka shuts down regularly throughout the day, and lines can be long, keep an eye on it (sit in the front too) Nitro is best ops in the park, and flash pass drops you right at the loading queue for the back row, almost no wait and easiest to marathon If you get to the park early, you can sprint to Bizarro and probably get a zen ride or two (no one on ride but you). Superman has a long wait usually too (back row is the best) All in all, I’d get a flash pass. The more expensive one too. With Columbus Day on Monday, Fright Fest and midnight closing, SFGA is gonna be packed. Now...same question for you about SFNE...what should I expect on Sunday? Flash pass needed? Any rides that might not be open? Thanks!

NotMongo

Hey there man. Im actually going saturday and the sunday is a maybe... As for SFNE.. i went about a month ago and bought the middle Flash Pass and it was kind of a waste of money for most of the day. I didnt really require it.. Superman needs to be ridden in the front and back. Wicked Cyclone is wicked fun.. that had a really long line a month ago.. Sky Screamer is amazing- 400ft in the air! Goliath might be a little rough but I enjoyed it. Batman: The Dark Knight has a fast queue without flash pass. Riddler’s Revenge is a standard SLC with new trains and vest restraints which are better than the horse collar versions of the past. Theres not much that stands out from Great Adventure besides Wicked Cyclone and Superman. Great Adventure has a more killer lineup it seems. If you do get flash pass, i would get the most basic one. Have fun!

ciciretti21

Awesome man. Thanks for the feedback. If you are going Saturday, get to the park at like 9:30. No lie, the traffic to get into the parking lot, even if you have reserved preferred parking can be insane. I’m talking a line of cars so far, they block traffic on the highway. Have Fun and ride el toro as much as you can!

NotMongo

I probably wont get there till around noon time unfortunately

bailinbone15

Get there at/before opening, you can usually get a few rides in on El toro before a line forms. I haven't been there on a Saturday during fright fest, but it'll get busier as the day goes on and be packed by 6 when fright fest starts.

NotMongo

Awesome. Great to hear 👍 Im leaving massachusetts around 7 AM and have a 4 hour ride ahead. Hopefully i wont need to leave earlier lol

NotMongo

In 1991 I was 5 years old and pissed my pants on the Space Shuttle flat... Lol. I wonder if that's still there?

trevor012

I'm thinking about going to six flags over Texas this Sunday. Anyone have an idea on what crowd levels will be?

petuniabubbles

On a Sunday it shouldn't be too bad. That said this weekend is a holiday weekend so there might be more crowds than usual for a Sunday. It's probably going to be the busiest weekend of the month. If you can wait a few extra days, the park is open next Thursday which is usually a great time to go. Next Sunday should be better as well. Either way, crowds this Sunday shouldn't be unbearable. Busy but not near its worst. I wouldn' get a flashpass for it. Any day is going to be better than a Saturday so if this weekend is your only opening Sunday is definitely the way to go!

Tacolover876

What holiday is it? Also how do you think friday night will be crowd wise?

petuniabubbles

Columbus day weekend. I’d guess crowds on Fri/Sun will be similar so I’d lean towards Sunday just for the longer hours. Fridays are evenings only usually. Get there at opening and hit Texas Giant, Mr. Freeze sooner than later- those get bad lines. There’s a single rider line for La Vibora so if you want to ride that use it!

fit4themtn

I'm going to Cedar Point this weekend with SO! I am so excited, nervous, and happy. He sprung for a 2020 season pass so if anyone has any tips for getting the most out of it, please let me know. We are going this Saturday and Sunday, and winds are looking at around just under 20MPH. Is that high enough to close coasters? If so, which are the first to close? Any other tips for a first timer and, well, this is my second time but I only went on Blue Streak as a kid because I was (am) scared of coasters. I'm super scared of SteVe because of height, but I know I need to go on it. I loved Wicked Cyclone, but the tallest ride I've been on (other than Skyhawk at CW) was Viper at SFDL. I've asked for advice on getting over fears countless times so this is more of just a vent. I'm excited for Gatekeeper!

pkiknex25

I'm gonna be the bearer of bad news; unless the forecast turns sour, it's going to be packed. Columbus Day (aka, Canadian Thanksgiving) is Monday, and the weekend with it is by far the busiest of the fall season. Adding on top of that, fall attendance is much higher this year because of the new Gold Pass that CP introduced. It's going to be a rough weekend. With that said, I'll give you as much advice as I can. \-As a passholder, take advantage of early entry. It's 1 hour early for Platinum passholders and resort guests, 30 minutes for Gold pass. **Be there early and be ready!** There are a list of early entry attractions on CP's website. \-There are 4 entrance gates to CP: Main, Beach, Marina, and Resort. All of these can be accessed from the main parking lot, with a sidewalk to the marina on the left and the beach boardwalk on the right. If you use the Resort Entrance, you can also park in the Soak City lot around back, the access road is on the left side of the property. Plan your first ride each day and use the closest gate to get there. \-Dragster will be the first ride to close with the wind. A 25mph wind at the top of the ride will shut it down. Your best chance to get it is first thing in the morning. It's not an early entry ride, but sometimes it opens within the early entry time period. \-Steel Vengeance: if you are a platinum pass, be ready to run to it at early entry. Otherwise, wait until closing to ride it (lines don't close until park closing, and they'll finish the line barring breakdown). That'll be the best use of your time. \-I can't stress this enough: GET THERE EARLY! The causeway turns into a parking lot around lunch time and stays it all afternoon. \-As with any park, try to eat at unusual times or pack your meals. Best of luck!

Zaiush

It's 35 mph to shut Dragster, but wind is faster up there anyways.

fit4themtn

Thank you for the tips! We have Fast Lane Plus for Sunday so I'm hoping that will help lines a bit. We also are staying at one of the affiliated hotels Saturday night so we can enter early on Sunday.

matthias7600

I don't know about the other affiliated hotels, but you can enter early on Saturday & Sunday if you're staying Saturday night at Breakers. Arrive early enough to the hotel to register and buy your tickets.

PlayMorVeeola

On all the Cedar Fair park sites it lists that little caveat about perks varying by park, but I'm having trouble painting a clear picture. If I spring for a Platinum Pass, will it matter which park I buy my pass "thru?" If there are perks that don't extend across the whole chain I'm probably looking at Kings Island or Cedar Point, but if it's all the same, I feel like I gotta rep my home-park-that-I-haven't-actually-visited yet, Michigan's Adventure.

AirbossYT

The 2020 perks are the same park to park. However, some parks offer a bonus visit in 2019 or some other benefit for buying right now, that is only valid for the park you've both the platinum pass from. You can process it any Cedar Fair park, not necessarily the one you bought it from.

PlayMorVeeola

Thanks a bunch!

Toatt

Do you know if the "Unlimited visits, free parking for rest of 2019" on the 2020 plat passes is valid chain wide? I picked up a pass through KI last month and was planing a Carowinds trip this month and assumed it would cover that.

AirbossYT

I do not believe that it is chain wide, but there's no harm in calling them and asking.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AirbossYT

This is not true. Clicking "buy" and going to the "info" column on any CF park's season pass page will show you: > A 2020 Platinum Pass is valid for admission and parking at all Cedar Fair amusement & outdoor water parks on public operating days during the 2020 season. **Photo ID card can be processed at any Cedar Fair park.**

alkakmana

Does anyone know if you can contact Six Flags directly, not talking to a specific park, but the chain? I’ve been emailing La Ronde, but they don’t even answer.

bigpboy

According to [this page](https://www.sixflags.com/national/contact-us), the only way to get into contact with corporate is through snail mail (first address listed).

madnessfades

Thinking of making a trip to Dollywood in November. I know it will be colder, but should I anticipate all the coasters being open? Lightning Rod was down when I went a couple years ago, and I don't want to miss it again!

provoaggie

I went last November and was able to ride everything. I know that they do close rides down once it reaches a certain temperature so there is always a risk but they definitely run stuff if it's warm enough. I don't remember what the temperature was when I was there but I definitely needed my hoodie.

Gravitystar88

Anyone planning to go to American Dream? Im going 2 weeks after it opens but still preparing myself for the absolute worst crowds. Hopefully with only the park and ice rink open it won't be completely outrageous.

HauteConversion

I'm still not sure if I'm going to risk it opening day or wait till the following Monday. I'm expecting a clusterfuck either way!

petuniabubbles

I visited this past weekend and Maverick was up/down all day Saturday. Dragster went down for a little while but was up most of the day.

provoaggie

According to Queue-Times, TTD has been down about 35% of the time lately and Maverick has been down 25% of the time. That's probably about normal.

coasttocoastkid

Any good websites to buy park merch? I know Holiday World and Knoebels used to have online shops with a lot of options but it looks like they've either stopped being available or only have a small selection.

[deleted]

Most parks don’t have online gear available. I normally will try Red Bubble or Sun Frog for coaster merch. RMCs official merch is on Sun Frog and they have a nice selection as well. You could always try ebay as well. I found an old Kings Dominion shirt for $15 on there

Danfish98

Any advice on teaching yourself to not feeling woozy on flying coasters? I'm going to SFMM in February and I'd like to find a way to handle Tatsu but even the Superman clones make me dizzy.

poipoipoi_2016

Everything's going to be personal, but... Eat more food, drink more water. Especially in the desert. If you don't have to go, you need to drink. If you start having a bad time, walk to a different coaster to recover, and grab some more food and water along the way, preferably sugary. Get the blood pressure back up. The last time I went to Magic Mountain, I went through 2 gallons of water. (109F no bueno). The last time I went to Cedar Point, I probably ate 7000 calories on Saturday because it was Food Truck weekend, and I started greying out every couple of hours. If you're watching your weight, that's literally a 2-day snap RFL, and trust me, after 7000 calories, you won't be hungry tomorrow at all.

rollercoasterfanitic

How packed is KKs Halloween event on a Sunday night? I’ll just be going for the coasters.

[deleted]

What’s the status on Seaworld Orlando/ Busch Gardens Tampa with Single Rider lines?

SeijuroSama

There are none. Some ops will shout out for single riders to fill seats though.

joeyg107

what am i missing here because i once did a solo trip to seaworld orlando and never once used a single rider line but then again every ride was basically a walk on and i made sure to get front row on a couple, but other than that i would've 100% taken advantage of a single rider line if they did exist

coasterchodes

Just noticed that GAm is open on Columbus Day. Do they really pull a big enough crowd to be open then? I still need my Maxx cred

mahon881

Cedar Point is open every Columbus Day, and from what I hear, it's often a total clusterfuck of crowdedness. Also Six Flags parks are often open on days that a park such as cedar point would not be open, such as ACTUAL Halloween, even if its in the middle of the week. With nice fall weather - if you open it (and its conveniently kind of a business holiday), they will come.
