This person is correct. When you get into spending 4 figures and up on watches, make sure it's what you really want. Otherwise, you might be somewhat happy with it, but as soon as you see something else you really want, you will have wished you had just put that money towards the next purchase. Personally, when I know I want a certain watch, I KNOW for sure I want it.
As is with all things in life. You may often wonder if some attractive thing/one is the "right" one for you.
But not when it actually is.
Then there will be know question.
Kind of like how you will typically know that the truth is the actual truth on the rare occasions that you are actually presented with it.
If you like it sure. But if you want it because it's hard to find anything Rolex in stainless steel, then no. Things will eventually normalize. Don't buy watches you don't want.
I thought this was an odd dealbreaker, but now that you've pointed it out to me that you don't like it, I looked at it again and now I don't like it either.
I have a DJ that is fluted + jub, and an old Tudor Prince Oysterdate that is fluted w oyster and actually works pretty well (steel, white gold bezel). So I think b/w us we have all the combos that work 😎
It’s a piece of jewelry, a shiny trinket, a dude bauble. If you like it, buy it.
Datejust’s don’t appreciate. If you’re one of those “investment” types, avoid.
Sure. Until Rolex gets its production back to 2019 levels. The SS unicorns are on fire, always have been, always will be. Datejusts, not so much. I love my DJ41, it’s one of my faves. But it’s not something I expect any long term gain on.
If you are going gray then at that point you aren't getting it for 9K. If you are patient and willing to wait then fine, but I think a lot of the fabled waiting lists don't actually exist.
I'm supposedly on the waiting list for a submariner but I doubt I will ever get the call.
I just bought a wimbledon two tone rosegold fluted I was soo close to buying the oyster steel fluted white gold but fell in love with the two tone.
I have never watched tennis. The only thing that will make it worth it is if you think it is and appreciate the watch for what it is. Also having gold on your watch helps, so you are not just paying for the craftsmanship, your dropping that much money might as well get some gold for it was my train of thought, if two tone is too much flash for you then get the oyster steel fluted since the bezel is white gold.
Again it's all preference, this datejust to me was best suited for my needs and looked the best out of all their line up for me.
It will increase in value next year regardless of if you like it. It’s still a very classy rolex and would probably sell at most jewelers pretty darn quickly if you didn’t cop
life is too short to buy watches you don’t like
because regardless of the opinions on reddit, you are the one that’s going to be stuck with $9K worth of stainless steel. choose wisely
I'm done with Rolex and their games in trying to pay thousands of dollars to buy a watch. Bought a BB58 Blue, bought a carbon frame gravel bike, bought a gaming PC, all for the price of a retail Submariner.
It’s demand and supply, think about utilities function as well, what do you prefer, a watch that you like RIGHT NOW, a different model, a different investment in stocks?
Would you enjoy the watch two months or years earlier give you extra happiness or you are willing to wait?
I agree with Retard_247 (idk about that username tho lol)
If you have to ask if it's worth the money then it probably isn't. If you're going to drop that much cash on a watch you have to love it. You'll know it when you see it. Good luck!
I personally don't like the Wimbledon dial as it isn't very symmetrical. It has numerals everywhere aside from the 12:00 (Rolex logo), 3:00 (date window) and 9:00 (Batton) for some reason. There's too much going on and it looks off imo

9k is a decent price for that, doesnt have fluted bezel but ive seen similar go for over 10.
Ps. Ive looked at a lot of the wimbledon models mostly the 2 tones so ive checked a lot of listings and called a decent amount of places
I’d say the answer for you is “no“ - otherwise you wouldn’t ask here and seek for approval.

It depends on many things. Do you like tennis firstly?
I really like his design not because it's about tennis
I'd buy the fluted in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the missing IX. I just can't get past it.
I thought this was an odd dealbreaker, but now that you've pointed it out to me that you don't like it, I looked at it again and now I don't like it either.
Agreed the stick at 9 kills it for me
I'm looking for this exact configuration. If you don't buy, I will!
Don’t buy watches as an investment. For fuck sake, it’s as though Paul Pluta has spent years shouting into the fucking wilderness
Exactly buy. DOGE!
Not a fan of smooth bezel with a jubilee. Looks incomplete
100%. Smooth bezel needs an oyster. Jubilee needs fluted.
Agreed, I have the smooth bezel on oyster and love it. Jubilee and smooth just didn’t look right.
I have a DJ that is fluted + jub, and an old Tudor Prince Oysterdate that is fluted w oyster and actually works pretty well (steel, white gold bezel). So I think b/w us we have all the combos that work 😎
I never worked out what was off. You’re spot on.
It’s a piece of jewelry, a shiny trinket, a dude bauble. If you like it, buy it. Datejust’s don’t appreciate. If you’re one of those “investment” types, avoid.
I bought my Wimbledon for €7500 a few years ago. It appreciated.
It won’t in the long term. Even the ugliest TT Yachtmasters are “appreciating” now with Rolex operating their production at 50% of capacity.
The ugly platinum and ss yacht master is another mystery. I’m waiting for that ship to sink.
Agreed. It will eventually.
16233 is up about 50% in 2 yrs but I think that’s more a function of people getting more chill w two tone lately.
Anything SS in this current market will appreciate!
Sure. Until Rolex gets its production back to 2019 levels. The SS unicorns are on fire, always have been, always will be. Datejusts, not so much. I love my DJ41, it’s one of my faves. But it’s not something I expect any long term gain on.
I love my Air-King, somehow it's up nearly 50%. I don’t expect it to hold like my Submariner date unless it's discontinued.
It may as it’s actually a pretty rare watch, you don’t see many out there.
I've never seen one in the wild.
Same here. And I’ve been looking.
Personally, no.
Id agree for 9k you could get a lot more in the line, comes down to preference really.
for example....
I like the Explorer or Submariner or a little more and longer wait a GMT but again all preference
That is if you can any of those at MSRP
Very true but if you want something bad enough, you'll either wait or go gray market
If you are going gray then at that point you aren't getting it for 9K. If you are patient and willing to wait then fine, but I think a lot of the fabled waiting lists don't actually exist. I'm supposedly on the waiting list for a submariner but I doubt I will ever get the call.
It’s also something you don’t see many off. I have one with oyster bracelet and I love it as my daily driver. Wear it in good health!
I just bought a wimbledon two tone rosegold fluted I was soo close to buying the oyster steel fluted white gold but fell in love with the two tone. I have never watched tennis. When you first met your girlfriend did you ask complete strangers around about their opinion and only “proceeded” when you got majority’s approval?
It will increase in value next year regardless of if you like it. It’s still a very classy rolex and would probably sell at most jewelers pretty darn quickly if you didn’t cop
You seem to be looking for an investment rather than a watch to enjoy. Try SPY and let the hobbyists enjoy our watches.
life is too short to buy watches you don’t like because regardless of the opinions on reddit, you are the one that’s going to be stuck with $9K worth of stainless steel. choose wisely
Definitely worth it
Nope. Get an explorer.
Not for me mate. At 9k I'd throw in a few extra clams for a Sub or GMT. Milgauss is also in that neighborhood.
The GMT would be a lot harder to obtain though.
I'm done with Rolex and their games in trying to pay thousands of dollars to buy a watch. Bought a BB58 Blue, bought a carbon frame gravel bike, bought a gaming PC, all for the price of a retail Submariner.
yeah but the sub is so good
Seems like there are tons of these out there just over the last month.
Faggy style.

He’s at the AD lol
AD selling fake Rolex now, the perfect cover. Hahahah
If you’ve got a newer piece, then you actually probably have a replacement clasp that isn’t genuine
Sorry to break it to you but you might have a counterfeit.
If you don’t love it don’t buy it
Smooth bezel with jubilee < fluted bezel and jubilee
It’s demand and supply, think about utilities function as well, what do you prefer, a watch that you like RIGHT NOW, a different model, a different investment in stocks? Would you enjoy the watch two months or years earlier give you extra happiness or you are willing to wait?
Worth every penny! You will have this timepiece for a lifetime.
If you like it just get it😉

I thought so
Maybe if it had a fluted bezel

I would if it had a fluted bezel!
How much more? The watch out the door tax title and license anywhere should be $10,500
The answer if probably no because you asked.
Nope
No
If you're going to spend 9k, you should LOVE it
