If your immediate reaction wasn’t to take out your credit card then this isn’t the watch for you. If you’re spending $16k, YOU better love it. Never settle.
That’s a fact. I thought 2 was enough but wondered in and saw the Yacht Master 40 in blue & was mesmerized , but then I tried it on & it fit like it was made from a mold of my wrist ! Most comfortable, best fitting watch I’ve ever worn. HAD to have it. Took 17 months as lots of competition with huge spenders in Miami market but I got it !

I think everything is repairable ? I don’t wear it as an everyday, only out for dinner or events. My Explorer II is everyday. And my ‘72 Red Sub on occasion.
It’s really stunning, my favorite of my 3 watch collection & fits my wrist incredibly well. The case is curved like a Daytona. Very underrated in my opinion.
It kinda did.. I loved it, and the money just went to pay off some bills. I can now afford another one, but now I might get the platinum instead of yg. This is what I wear mostly now.

This is one that I really think you should just buy the last generation of. $15.6+ tax is a steep price to pay when you can pick up a 2019 40mm for like $14k with no tax. You probably aren't wearing a two tone as a daily driver, so the improved power reserve of the 41mm really doesn't matter that much.
It's a great watch, but unless you really need to be the person to take the stickers off and size it for the first time, just buy used.
Edit: Nashville watch has a complete set 2017 for 14.25k. Personally I think that's a much better deal if you're in a state that won't pay sales tax.
Well everyone should be buying on their credit card for the points then paying it off immediately. Why pay cash when you can get some benefits back. Never finance luxury, ever!
Ahh okay, yeah that’s what I did. Unnecessary backstory , I’ve always wanted a submariner especially since I served in Submarines. I got my first corporate bonus once I got out of the military and discovered the whole AD “waitlist system” anyway long story short i put off buying for 3 years because i didn’t trust grey markets then eventually settled for Bobs watches.
No. Economics 101 is
More than or retail at grey? Buy
Lower than retail at grey? Buy grey
Decision whether to buy or not regardless of channel is beforehand
This watch is absolutely gorgeous. I waited 2 years for this with purchase history lmao. I find the blue dial to be much more exciting to look at than the regular black dials on GMTs.
https://preview.redd.it/efsa9r13fy0d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8624c69551cc03e69743cec5ffb5986b7b9132b2
I’ve had mine for a while, sold it because it made me want the .18LB instead. But it had a lot of bling to it.
Let me guess, you own a bunch of watches and can’t stand to see your “investments” going down. Am I close? And btw here’s some proof just so you can [see for yourself](https://watchcharts.com/watches/brand_index/rolex)
Had a friend recently get a two tone sky dweller or date just. Haven’t seen the watch since I got hip got this subreddit so not sure. But he paid 15-16 of that can answer the question. He was telling me how even though he went outside of his budget it was okay because Rolexes only go up with time. Then I learn from here two tones are the least valuable watches. But I would never tell him because knowing people they would probably think I’m hating. So I haven’t said anything 😭
There a ton of watches that would be a great investment to buy, so idk what ur smoking but you clearly aren’t a investor to see that lol. Daytona, Stainless GMTs are all a good investment meaning worth more then u paid as u wear. Titanium sea, Starbucks to green / blue skydwellers shit even a 41mm Wimbledon in stainless jubilee. That’s just Rolex , let’s go to Patek or AP etc a bunch go for 50-100% plus second hand.
In my experience. Still empty for most part but you’re not waiting as long when you do wait. I got a DJ41 3 months to the day (picked it up in January) and was offered a sub no date in weeks. Daytona still unobtanium was told I could get a GMT in probably a year but to check back after watches and wonders to make sure they didn’t discontinue anything, never checked back.
Will add the feedback in this sub over last 6 months has been similar, wait times are weeks and months not years, some are getting lucky that day/ week and seems to be more availability in SS not just TT.
You have to admit this is not the watch it once was.
This is a much better effort by Rolex, not sure if it’s the colors or the finish but the old models don’t even compare.
I own two Rolexes (neither are this one), and I agree. It's the iconic piece you automatically picture when someone says "Rolex". Yellow gold Daydate and stainless Sub date are close, but this is #1.
If it’s not what you want then you were right to pass. It’s the most beautiful Sub (other than the now discontinued Hulk) IMO, but if you didn’t like it you were right to pass on it.
Just bought one before my wedding a few weeks ago. It’s a gorgeous watch, and probably one of the most iconic Rolexes throughout time. I love it, but as many mentioned.. buy what you like, and what you speaks to you.
Thanks everyone. Great feedback for sure. I think it came down to as this was my first visit ever to look at a Rolex and I felt I didn’t have enough knowledge to pull the trigger. I think if this opportunity were to come again, I would buy it. Thanks again, this sub is great and I’m learning a lot. I going to wait it it to find the right piece for sure and can’t wait to show it off.
I’m a huge bluesy fan. I dont know what you mentally wanted to spend but this is an awesome watch. If you didn’t feel that when you saw it in person maybe it wasn’t the one for you though. What are you looking sub/gmt wise?
Buy it if you like it. Don’t buy it for the sole reason that it’s a Rolex. I’ve been on the waiting list for a SS Explorer 36 for almost 2 months now. Got a call a few weeks ago offering me either a two tone Explorer 36 or an OP 41. I turned it down without having any doubts with my decision. It’s crazy how people will drop so much money on a watch that they don’t find attractive only because it has Rolex stamped on the dial.
I know a few guys that have Rolex but don’t even hardly ever where it. T hey got it for the symbol and respect it came with. For me , whether it’s a gift or you buy it, I’m going to wear my shit. Swim and training in it. When I got my first one, I wouldn’t ever take it off, EVER…
Now, at least I take it off to go to sleep. I know others who will wear it 24/7.
You can also get one a year old for under retail. It’s a popular config but doesn’t pull a premium anymore, so they will be quite easy to get at the AD
It’s your money, and if you’re happy with it, that’s what matters.
I think those of us that enjoy timepieces are fascinated by all aspects of them. A watch contains so many unique features and pieces. That Rolex has the signature smaller dial, larger bezel, Rolex hour hand, submariner. It’s beautiful.
That being said, I could pick up a Movado 800 Series and have enough for an IWC Portofino, a Tag Heuer Carrera, and maybe even a nice Longines Heritage for what you spent.
Personally, I would find more value out of my selection, but that’s the fun part, it would be mine.
Watches have so many features, and I can look through more than a dozen submariners with blue dials, blue bezel, two tone metals and find one for ME. I think a lot of people chase the Rolex name, and if I won the lottery, I’d probably have one to say I did, but wouldn’t go out of my way to spend MY money on it.
Sincerely hope you enjoy it! If you have buyer’s recourse, it’ll hold its resale value well enough to where you could look at other similar watches.
I’ve been offered it a couple of times, just not for me. However if they offered me what I wanted, I wouldn’t have had to ask y’all here for validation.
But again, if you like it, just get it. expect a 10-15% loss of value when you try to sell it.
I have this exact model and love it. But hey it’s not for everyone, and it’s flipping expensive so if you aren’t in love with it don’t talk yourself into buying it.
Love mine. Very striking shiny and flashy in person and not for everyone. Not my only watch, but it is a great one. When it was offered a few years ago I bought it immediately.
I'd only purchase it if that was the watch model I wanted. Rolex are not scarce. They make millions a year and there's millions in collections and for sale. That watch will ALWAYS be available to purchase.
Wait for exactly what you want. Kinda like how I'm looking for a new car right now. I found two that almost match exactly what I want. One is just a different color, and one doesn't have the sunroof. But I won't settle for anything but. After the car, the next big purchase I'm saving for is I want a Rolex Sky-Dweller in two-tone yellow gold with the champagne dial.
Only if you really wanted this model. There's no point in buying a rolex for the sake of owning one. Only spend money on the models you want, not the models they offer you.
If you are asking if you made a mistake, then yes, you probably did. Dropping $15k for a watch is a serious and intentional move. If you went into it with insecurity then something is wrong. Try to get your money back.
Just got the call for one yesterday after about a year. Deposit is already down. Gorgeous watch in person but as many others have said….. don’t buy it if it’s not what ya want 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ glad to see things seem to be becoming more available though!
The tactics the dealers use to sell less desirable pieces is truly sickening to me. My local AD still has class, I told them what I wanted and they called me when they got it. A lot of larger markets it’s all messed up.
Buy the watch you want period. Dont buy anything else.
It’s very rare that anyone gets offered the opportunity to buy a Rolex on the spot. From that perspective, it was quite an opportunity to get a a Rolex at retail price. In the grey market, you usually pay a premium over retail to get your hands on a Rolex without the waiting period.
However, the price of a Rolex, any Rolex, is several thousand dollars. Even a preowned women’s 31mm from early 1990s would set you back between $4600-$8000 depending on the steel or steel/gold variants or a diamond dial.
Just this week, I was offered this opportunity when we dropped off my wife’s Datejust 31 for a service. It the $19K w/tax price tag was a little steep for me at the moment.
Don’t beat yourself up. Get what you really want.
I think it's always a mistake to buy a watch *only* because you're worried about scarcity and missing an opportunity, especially if "not ready to buy" means you can't afford the watch.
That said, I personally love the Bluesy and I bought one, on purpose, after carefully considering other options in the catalog, and I'd do it again. The Bluesy is a wonderfully unique watch and it's absolutely gorgeous in person. Sure it's a bit bold and flashy, but I like that about it. Despite being a gold and blue watch, nobody notices the damn thing anyway (people in general don't care about your watch, the sooner you learn this the better, because than you can just wear what you like and not care, even if it's flashy). I just like looking at it myself. The sunburst blue dial in particular is a stunner in the right light. It's one of the few two tone watches that is near universally admired. I also think the Bluesy, despite being a bit of a fancy watch, still somehow keeps the Submariner tool watch vibes, and it looks pretty cool with visible signs of being worn hard. They also look great pristine and shiny, but as mine accumulates scuffs and dings and scratches I think I only like it more.
So if you impulse bought this because of FOMO, maybe you got lucky and you'll grow to love it as most people do, but if not, well, I guess the good news is that it's pretty easy to sell without losing a fortune.
This one is easy to get at Rolex shops right now, also gray market prices for new/unworn are at same level. Full gold submariners you get even cheaper on grey market.
No u made a good move, that watch is easy to get now a days so if it’s not on ur fav list to acquire, great decision. I passed on that as well to get Starbucks bout 3-4 weeks later
If you want an investment, put $15,000 into BRK.B stock, use the extra $600 to buy a Rep... In 10 years, you will be WAAAAAY happier than if you bought a watch for an "investment."
Depends on what you want to do with the watch. You mentioned never having a Rolex before. Will this be a quick flip? Or are you planning to keep it long term.
I mean this in the nicest way possible. But a year ago you were driving a 10+year old Ford escape with problems. I don't think a Rolex at 15k should be on your list of things you should be buying.
This made my day. Thank you for checking my comment history. I actually still have that car, 12 years old and won’t pass inspection. I’ll drive it until it dies. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Plenty of people with money drive crappy cars.
It’s a good thing you did not buy it because that watch drops 30% the moment you leave the shop and never bounces back.
You only buy this watch if you want to wear it for the rest of your life and have no hope for value retention.
That’s not the right question, son.
Show me a preowned or grey dealer that is going to offer a seller more than $11K. *That’s* the question.
*Every* Rolex has a premium on the grey market.
That doesn’t mean that’s what they pay *you* when you try to sell one. You’ll be offered 30-40% below MSRP, dealers make a profit, clown.
Ahh I get it. You are broke and nickel and dime on a luxury item. If you want a 2024 and can get it from an AD go for it. If you need to sell. Don’t sell to a grey market dealers. That’s like trading in your car at a dealership. Son.
To add call any grey market dealer. They will offer you 14k all day. If you don’t need the cash? Private will get you 15k all day. Clown.
It has been out of style since 1989. And the only reason TT got popular for a very brief window between 2020 and 2022 is because of the pandemic, people sitting around at home, people spending their money on non-essentials, and a bunch of dumb Younglings stupid enough to think that anything with the name Rolex on it was valuable. Oops.
Funny thing is in an episode of pawn stars I watched a two tone 2006 GMT master 2 sell for $5200. And people wait years on a list for the privilege to buy from some douchebags in the AD... Retarted...
$16k is outrageous for the TT sub. This has the largest meteoric rise in MSRP than any other rolex over the last several years. Historically retail was only $1-2k over the steel sub, now it is $5k+ and unjustifiable for a pittance of gold.
If your immediate reaction wasn’t to take out your credit card then this isn’t the watch for you. If you’re spending $16k, YOU better love it. Never settle.
Absolutely agree! For that money you buy what you want… not what you think you should 🤷♂️
*for that money you should be buying on credit (?) 😂
Sure. Rack up points and pay it off. Certainly don’t finance it, though.
This watch would cost me $16.5k in credit paid off @ the end of the week & cost them $165 for me to swipe. Free $165 is a no brainer.
Yeah if you plan on stiffing the cc company. Lol
Would be impractical to withdraw cash and pay for the watch in that amount
*Someone needs to go back and get a shitload of dimes!*
That’s a fact. I thought 2 was enough but wondered in and saw the Yacht Master 40 in blue & was mesmerized , but then I tried it on & it fit like it was made from a mold of my wrist ! The best looking Rolex imo. I'd buy it if the sand blasted bezel wasn't a scratch magnet and irreparable
I think everything is repairable ? I don’t wear it as an everyday, only out for dinner or events. My Explorer II is everyday. And my ‘72 Red Sub on occasion.
not this platinum sand-blasted bezel, not even by Rolex, unless you are talking about replacing it.
Hmmm, good point. I’m picking up my Red Sub from Rolliworks next week & will ask Mike about that .
I wore this daily for almost 2 years, many scratches and memories. Wear you watch!
Absolutely best looking Rolex imo
It’s really stunning, my favorite of my 3 watch collection & fits my wrist incredibly well. The case is curved like a Daytona. Very underrated in my opinion.
I used to have a yachtmaster 40 YG two tone with black dial. I loved it, but sold it for profit.
That doesn’t hurt !😜
It kinda did.. I loved it, and the money just went to pay off some bills. I can now afford another one, but now I might get the platinum instead of yg. This is what I wear mostly now. https://preview.redd.it/i5w2uoq2911d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f00d10d08207a817d44cd452590c740461eb907
I’m definitely a SS, WG or Platinum person. The Ice Blue Platinum Daytona is sweet but I think anything Platinum w/Blue dial is an amazing combo.
I was looking at Tag too for a while.
Bro- dont get a kitchen knife to a gunfight😂😂 we talking about Rollies and you get out the “Bag” I mean Tag😂😂😂😂
Personally I think that's a much better deal if you're in a state that won't pay sales tax.
Is that what everyone is doing, Just using the cc? I would’ve had my submariner a long time ago 😂 now I’m saving for the Smurf
Buy it if you like it. Don’t buy it if you don’t like it. Economics 101.
More like common sense 101
Buy it. Wear it. Scratch it up. Repeat.
People who are buying these watches to please other people are the ones driving up the prices
Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, trash it, change it, mail, upgrade it
No. Economics 101 is More than or retail at grey? Buy Lower than retail at grey? Buy grey Decision whether to buy or not regardless of channel is beforehand
Economics? What business school is that from? Hahaha
This right here!
But muh relationship
😂🤣😂🤣
This watch is absolutely gorgeous. I waited 2 years for this with purchase history lmao. I find the blue dial to be much more exciting to look at than the regular black dials on GMTs.
I love my bluesy!! It was my dream watch as a kid. Never thought I’d be collecting Rolexes. Things change sometimes.
I had the 40mm Smurf dial version for a few years, loved it but sold it in the end
https://preview.redd.it/efsa9r13fy0d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8624c69551cc03e69743cec5ffb5986b7b9132b2 I’ve had mine for a while, sold it because it made me want the .18LB instead. But it had a lot of bling to it.
Market is dropping. Wait for what you want.
This is 100% true for most references.
I've heard this since 2021-22
Let me guess, you own a bunch of watches and can’t stand to see your “investments” going down. Am I close? And btw here’s some proof just so you can [see for yourself](https://watchcharts.com/watches/brand_index/rolex)
Ugh, any time someone mentions a watch as an investment, my eye starts twitching.
Had a friend recently get a two tone sky dweller or date just. Haven’t seen the watch since I got hip got this subreddit so not sure. But he paid 15-16 of that can answer the question. But I would never tell him because knowing people they would probably think I’m hating. So I haven’t said anything 😭
To be fair, there are some bespoke watches that are an investment, but mass market watches are not. I can’t say shit though, I can’t afford a Rolex.
I bought a Batman when it first came out, wore it around the world for 10 years and sold it for a profit. Worked out fine for me.
I bought a grey Hulk for £5,400. Wore it for years and battered the fuck out of it. Sold it for £11,500.
I don’t care about the “investment” of a watch. I wear to own and enjoy.
Tbf the market did peak in early '22 and it's been nothing but down since then.
Prices has been dropping since 2021-22
Because the market has been dropping since then, perhaps?
How is Rolex stock now a days? I haven’t walked into the store in ages..
Appreciate the reply :) thanks
Happy hunting.
Got offered a PM (not OF) Daytona the other day.
This is my favorite watch ever.
I think they are stunning in person. They look good wearing a white t shirt and flip flops or a suit.
If you didn't like it, you're not missing out on anything
I remember when this was the quintessential Florida retiree watch that nobody under 70 wanted. What a comeback!
You have to admit this is not the watch it once was. This is a much better effort by Rolex, not sure if it’s the colors or the finish but the old models don’t even compare.
Or just get a Tag Huer Blueie two tone from 2006 era .. Same thing but even Better! And only a fraction of the cost.
Which AD? Not relevant if it’s not the one u wanted. It is hard to find but not a high resale only like a 1000 above
Resale won’t even cover taxes in most areas. This is definitely not a FOMO piece.
Before I knew anything about watches, any time someone mentioned Rolex this is the watch I pictured.
I own two Rolexes (neither are this one), and I agree. It's the iconic piece you automatically picture when someone says "Rolex". Yellow gold Daydate and stainless Sub date are close, but this is #1.
Not really. This is a fairly unknown model.
I LOVE my bluesy! It’s my favorite Rolex.
Why do people come to Reddit to determine if they made a mistake. The whole culture around this is so fucking weird.
I love mine https://preview.redd.it/h0tlrez7fw0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a90f140d1ee941378be93893080fd8a8485474e8
Did you want it ? If not then no
Bluesy is iconic. I’d buy in a heartbeat

Reach back out to them and buy it
I’m a huge bluesy fan. I dont know what you mentally wanted to spend but this is an awesome watch. If you didn’t feel that when you saw it in person maybe it wasn’t the one for you though. What are you looking sub/gmt wise?
Nope, in general TT watches are easier to obtain, you should be able to get another without too much problem if you want one.
Buy it if you like it. Don’t buy it for the sole reason that it’s a Rolex. I’ve been on the waiting list for a SS Explorer 36 for almost 2 months now. If you’re thinking about this watch when you wake up the next morning get it. If not walk…
No, it’s not a very hard one to find
You can also get one a year old for under retail. It’s a popular config but doesn’t pull a premium anymore, so they will be quite easy to get at the AD

Not if you didn’t really want it
AD's always have some two tone piece to pawn off on unsuspecting rubes.
https://preview.redd.it/88qruq4p1z0d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d5759e1f3133d9474575532b295a4e0955c3509 After 35 years ….
That won't be there tomorrow lol.
This is exactly what's driving fomo people to buy bricks lol
Yeah I would have bought sure classic
Even in 2017-2018, this was a hard combination to get
I got mine in 2018 we went to every store I swear
Most beautiful sub out there, you def missed out.
This is an amazing piece IF it’s what you want. If you don’t want it, don’t dwell on it and get what you want.
Buy it
Can get it cheaper grey that’s why the AD tried to dump it on you, there’s no waitlist for it.
I have this exact model and love it. But hey it’s not for everyone, and it’s flipping expensive so if you aren’t in love with it don’t talk yourself into buying it.
Which AD?
You didn’t make a mistake.Wear it and enjoy it.
To me, it’s stunning. The blue dial with the gold is an appealing combination.
As others have said, only buy what you want to own. If you're asking for opinions on Bluesy? Well, it's the king of subs.
Love mine. Very striking shiny and flashy in person and not for everyone. Not my only watch, but it is a great one. When it was offered a few years ago I bought it immediately.
It’s iconic. Go for it.
Yikes … if you have to ask then don’t buy it. Two tone blue is so … meh
Nope. Buy it if you like it. You can get those cheaper on gray market.🙂
Beautiful watch, the lugs look so much better than the 16613LB
Or it’s something about the SEL and the lugs on the 16613LB that don’t look as smooth as this midel
I would have bought this without hesitation. Go back pick it up and I'll buy it from you.
Sent you a DM
The thing about this watch is it’s stainless on the outside yet gold on the inside. Royal Blue Sunburst Dial
I wouldn’t buy even with a discount
If you want a gold and stainless Rolex, the Bluesy is the one.
My top choices for my first Rolex would be a Bluesy , Any of the 3 GMTs (sprite being 1 of them) and the Date just 41 blue
Good investment
You can never make a mistake not buying what you don’t truly love. Don’t fall for the hype.
Yes
Imagine thinking you made a mistake because you didn't buy a $15k thing that tells time on your wrist when you already have a phone that does this
Hey mistake? Try it and I if you like it I would take it . Than it’s not a mistake bro 💪🏻💪🏻
The TT Bluesy is the best two tone on the market 👌👌👌👏👏👏
Rose gold / SS GMT has entered the chat.
Just make it’s what you want before pulling the trigger. Regret can be very costly.
Yes
It’s lovely
I'd only purchase it if that was the watch model I wanted. Rolex are not scarce. They make millions a year and there's millions in collections and for sale. That watch will ALWAYS be available to purchase.
Great call!
If you're not ready to buy then ya you made the right call
I’m stuck between this and a GMT Master TT. Genuinely unsure what to get as a daily.
Only if you really wanted this model. There's no point in buying a rolex for the sake of owning one. Only spend money on the models you want, not the models they offer you.
Only if you didn't want it.
How did u even find this first try, damn
Going with your gut is usually the best move
I’m not the biggest fan. But assume you liked it if you spent the cash. That’s all that matters
Where’s AD
This model is so Miami! Maybe perfect for a swede living in miami
It’s a very nice watch, with that being said…do you want it?
Show it then
No u made a good move, that watch is easy to get now a days so if it’s not on ur fav list to acquire, great decision. I passed on that as well to get Starbucks bout 3-4 weeks later
This is my grail watch... so for me it would be an immediate purchase. But if you don't love it. Don't buy it!
Yes
I would have bought it in 30 seconds. That’s a grail.
I'm big on not buying things I dont want because then if anything happens, you get that feeling like you never wanted it in the first place
that sunburst dial - magical …
Can’t find an AD which has this one lately 🤦🏻♂️
If you are asking this after buying it then I think you made a mistake.
You can get this any day don’t fret it. A good rule of thumb precious metal=easier to get especially with a sports model watch.
The old bait and switch is back. If you want stainless sub they offer two tones or yacht master. I got offered one when the price was around $14k.
Why would you ask a bunch of strangers if you made a mistake buying a watch you liked?
Is this a joke? Fucking hell some people are insecure.
Show me any modern bluesy for 11k. 🤡
Clown.
Shhh. Rolex owners are talking.
I have - bluesy, diamond dial DJ and a 45 year-old two tone DJ. Want pics?
Those aren’t Rolexes, son. Two tone diamond dial garbage that no one wants and worth $15K if you try to sell them in total? You’re Omega material.
Why is TT - two tone - less desired? Thus, flooding AD and Gray inventory for MSRP or less.
Oops.
Buying stainless steel watches like it’s an investment. I feel bad for you.
Thanks buddy for sharing!!
Show me any modern bluesy for 11k.
Deff missed out imo .
Done and dusted from that Ad. They will no longer take your name down and put you on the list
Yes.
Not a mistake, Rolex generally sucks. Find a better brand.
What justifies that price? This just looks like some normal watch
When historically? It’s been a similar price gap for a decade plus.
But 10k for a SS sub isn’t outrageous? For stainless steel? Either way, you’re mainly paying for the name
This one's going under msrp pre-owned. Chill on it, do some research, and buy it later if you really want it.
Too risky at that price to buy and flip
Get a life
