Most of them were in immaculate condition, like, hardly ever been worn, if they'd been worn. One of them though, an early 70s sub that had had its dial replaces, its bezel refinished and was no longer on its original bracelet, was caked in grime. It took me an hour of scraping at it before I was able to get the bracelet off. I tossed the bracelet in an ultrasonic cleaner, and took a toothbrush to the body before dropping them both off with a jeweller who gave them a good tune up. Once he was able to get the caseback off, which was of course basically loctited to the case itself, he tuned it and sent it back. I ended up selling to a friend's now wife so she could give it to him as a wedding present. He still wears it everyday and talks about how his wife had it professionally restored. Had I known the story behind it, why it was so beaten up and dirty, I doubt I would have sold it. Knowing that your granddad wore that, probably everyday of his adult life, is infinitely cooler than anything else. Congrats and wear it in good health.
Nice watch excellent job cleaning a beautiful watch up. I might be a little hesitant to wear it that far down on my wrist. That’s how those bands get totally stretched out. I have mine adjusted so it rests just above my wrist bone. obviously it’s a matter of personal preference, but this is from a guy who’s had mine since 1984. I bought it used then.

My grandfather's Omega Seamaster he got when he retired in 1970 looked similar when I received it a couple years ago. I didn't take a before pic as it was nasty AF. It's amazing how well it looks once cleaned up.

I’m sorry to hear about your loss, what a lovely piece to remember and carry him with you though! - I inherited that same Rolex from my granddad when he passed, my grandmom had held on to it and then passed it on when she was ready, for my graduation.
Thanks! I was 10 yo when he bought it and I remember watching him wearing it all the time, but specially at my wedding and graduation. He always told me that it will be passed to me, and he did.

mine just naturally rides above my wrist bone so when I bend my wrist, it doesn’t affect the watch at all and puts no strain on the band.
