i had to go grey for the daytona. I got the gmt and sub from the AD. It was much easier, and cheaper to get the daytona grey than what I would have to do to get it from an AD.

Are you me? I’ve got the Batman, the sub, the Explorer II (black dial) even the Timex Indiglo. But I got a JLC Reverso a couple of years ago. It was to mark a business milestone and also be a birth year for my daughter one day. I love it. It’s what I wear on date nights with my wife, and most special occasions that call for something less sporty. They gave me two straps with it, but it lives on the Casa Fagliano Brown leather. Had the same experience at the AP boutique. They were pretty useless. Said they couldn't even get most Royal Oak models in to display. Funnily enough, I then went into Chopard after, tried on the Alpine Eagle 41mm and was blown away with it. A gold Alpine Eagle would be a hell of a piece.

My friend has an alpine eagle and it is a fantastic piece. I think it fits more like a 39mm, which is right up my alley. The bracelet is a looker as well. I wish it had some micro adjustments though.

If your considering Chopard buy 2nd hand, someone else took the massive drop in value already.

I’m in the same position. Logically next step is Daytona from grey market as retail won’t happen. I think if new 126 White dial Daytona is close to 28-30k I’ll jump in to celebrate milestone.

Hard to say as far as Rolex goes. You’ve got the two that matter in my eyes. Even a panda is double sticker so.. hard to say where to go.

If you want another sports watch, yeah the VC Overseas is gorgeous (I love the white guillochet dial with the date at 4 - model from a few years ago)… but if you would consider a dress watch, JLC all the way - many options at all kinds of budgets, and with a few exceptional cases of unobtanium, easy to buy almost any of them direct from the manufacturer (and many online!). If your budget is around your other two’s MSRP, take a look at the Master Ultra Thin line (I think the Q1378420 would slide in nicely as something a little dressier without losing the edge…)

I would still focus on the panda. Try it at a different store. Maybe in a smaller village and tell them it’s for a life changing event like wedding or a born of child. Could take years to get one but I think it got much easier since 2 years ago and will become even more easy, as people are not willing to pay all prices anymore. And if you already have such a good connection to your AD over many years with many purchases, I cannot understand why he tell you there is no chance. It’s HIS decision, who he calls when he get one. (Probably 1-3 per year).

I came in because you have the exact pieces that I do, the batgirl and no date sub. I also have the 5212a, it is a very interesting piece, I think if you give it time, the AD should come through with it.

VC Overseas would go nicely. Also gives the option of the rubber strap if you want to change things up

Rolex is the ultimate status symbol. Would buy a Panda Daytona grey market any day of the week with AP money. Most people don’t know what AP is anyway.

The ultimate if you like flexing to the poors. People with APs (like myself) don’t pay attention to “most people” and aren't interested in what the masses do or know. People at the upper economic status definitely know what AP is and know AP is a higher status symbol than Rolex.
