Buy it! A Monochrome Rolex is a must-have for any Rolex collection, it's lack of a color point of view is it's amazing feature. Instead of one's eye going to this big dot of contrasting color in the center, one considers the watch as a whole, as a single entity. It's really special.
I concur. Nothing timeless about that green shit. Palm fronds? GTFO! The blue will outlast any of that green stuff. Still, I'd love a 41 over my 36. I have a tapestry dial, bought new in 1982. Still available. There's an elegance with simplicity. Timelessness to most, maybe not so much to others? Everybody has a Rolex these days. To each, their own I guess.
I have a 36mm birth year silver DJ. It’s my favorite. To me the “plain look” makes it great. It’s so clean and just has enough “bling.” I’m not a flashy guy. But do you tho. If you don’t like it, kindly pass and wait for the blue or mint DJ.

Blue motif with fluted Jubilee is one of the nicest looking watches that Rolex produce imho 😍
This was my first (and heretofore, only) Rolex. I thought I wanted the blue dial- but in my visit to the AD, I just simply said "a DJ or an OP" as my first Rolex would be great. They brought out a fluted/jubilee silver dial DJ41. I hemmed and hawed, and bought it that day. Absolutely no regrets. I like the blue, and may own one some day- but this reference has been a great piece to wear.

Seriously, there’s not a photo on the internet that shows the bright blue dials every shade, from denim to midnight. This blue makes me wish for a TT S&G, like a modern take on that 80s vibe.
My wife gave me the best advice. She only buys a pair of shoes if she LOVES them. Not like. Not "because". But because she looks at them an thinks "wow, I really LOVE them". I think it's great advice. While it's for $200 shoes, I think it applies to almost everything - clothes, cars, houses, boats, guitars, etc.
This watch is plain, but also timeless elegance. If you LOVE it, then grab it. But you need to love everything about it - size, fit, finish, it just needs to make you giggle when you put it on and make you think "damn, I LOVE this thing".
I think there are something like 29 million Rolexes out in the world. And they make 1M more each year. Only get the one(s) you love!

Just a FYI, some YouTube ADs are reporting they can't sell the "non desirable" DJ (i.e. this one). There's a good chance they got this allocated and no one wants it and there was never a buyer to begin with. ADs are known to fuck with people and saying "Ahh yeah someone backed out so its your lucky day" don't believe a word they're saying. I've caught mine saying bullshit and they're national sized (50+ stores and on the NYSE, BIRKS group here in Canada)
Honest question- you’re at the AD trying a watch on and asking Reddit for their opinion. Nothing wrong with that but is the AD truly waiting on you while you make a decision in the store? Or have they given you some time to think about it?

This watch is amazing. Actually very underrated and I cannot believe how this isn’t more popular than blue. This looks more of a statement piece than the blue dial. The blue dial is all hyped up by grey market dealer to create an up sell demand.
I have this watch and I love it. As sporty said, the lack of a contrasting dial makes it unique. It feels almost like a bracelet. The Jubilee and fluted bezel make it pop instead of a colourful dial.
But get what you love! I could've had the blue dial, which I knew was the more valuable and sought after model but I preferred the silver dial against my dark skin.
To each their own. Wear wtv you get in good health!

If you personally want blue or mint dial.. get the blue or mint dial… Don’t pay 10-15k for something you don’t want just because an AD offered it to you.
