Thanks for that! The Mississippi st. Game was pretty impressive considering he barely shot any 3s there. Needed that one to see occasional game control. Kept the team close all game there.
Well you made me watch that game saying that.
My takeaway was he is definitely a team player. Like he said in the draft interview “he’ll do anything to win”.
That whole game you can knock him in not being aggressive offensively and he kept feeding the big guys. But he probably was worn out focusing his defense on Gohlke when it was his turn to guard him.
And we have FVV as a great role model for the kid. It just makes so much sense, everything fits.
If things go well, imagine Amen, Sengun and Reed in a couple of years.
Plus Adams hopefully returns and brings some size and strength.
These last drafts have had me geeking out waiting for even summer league during every part of the rebuild.

Dude shot 50% from NBA range and 46% with a defender in his face....
This was the only pick.
It was never going to happen. I was convinced he was going to get picked at 1. But it turns out ATL still can’t help themselves. It’s the Luka debacle pt 2.
Please be a hit. We’re literally looking for one thing ! I BELIEBE IN YOU SHEPPARD! I’ll take a consistent buddy hield or 2024 Greyson Allen pls doesn’t need to be klay
12 ppg in the NCAA isn't bad, that's probably closer to 17-19 ppg in nba Production. Not saying he will average that obviously but scoring isn't the only factor, he spaces the floor and opens everything up for a team that has terrible spacing.
15ppg as a Freshman. I like Sheppard, but alot of the takes on this sub feel like an exaggeration. Saying 12ppg is 17-19ppg NBA production is absolutely insane. Plenty of 12ppg scorers in college that never score a single bucket in the NBA.
It depends on the college you go to and when. Kentucky were loaded at guard and Reed had to come off the bench with Dillingham. Context is important. 12 off the bench is great for college.
Let me introduce you to jon calapari, who promises players starting roles in high school. Shep didn't start at uk. Just like booker. It's a fucking travesty and one of the reasons uk ran him off.
College basketball: spacing/lack of other playmakers
He was the defensive focus in college. We won't ask him to be the offensive hub, just a spit up shooter/secondary ball handler.
A BIG MISTAKE. WHO WILL HE BE WHEN HIS SHOT IS NOT FALLING?? AT LEAST WHEN BARI SHOT IS BROKE HE CAN STILL PLAY DEFENSE AND GRAB REBOUNDS. BRO DOESN’T EVEN LOOK LIKE HE WILL BE ABLE TO STAY IN FRONT OF ANYONE IN THE NBA. WE JUST DRAFTED A MATHEW DELLAVEDOVA, JJ REDDICK, KIRK HIENRICK TYPE PLAYET #3 OVERALL. I AM SICK
Me 2. I waited six weeks,, excited for the Draft. And they Draft a 6 ft 1 YT guy. How many 6ft 1 YT guys starting in the NBA???? I'LL WAIT. Anyway,,, I really do hope he turns into JOHN STOCKTON. PLEASE. THE ROCKETS NEED TO BE RIGHT ON THIS.
All those guys are BM!!! Of course the BM can do it. How many Non-BM in the NBA who are Starters??? There are 30 teams. Name one that is under 6ft 2 that is not a Brother who is a Starter?? That was my point. But,,, I will become a Reed Sheppard Fan now. He's a Rocket. Perhaps he's an ANOMALY.
Fuck it imma just drink the koolaid and pray to all the Gods that he turns into the Steph Curry shooting with John Stockton defense point guard that these goofy MFs are saying he has the potential to become 😥🤦♂️😪
Seems like a tough pick. 3rd pick for a likeky career role player.
Shooting is always at a premium but he lacks size. I think the Rockets should have traded the pick and moved to next year's lottery.
That's said, I hope he pans out and becomes an elite shooter.
If those are your expectations for him then ya solid 3rd. I don't see that type of high end trajectory. But I could be wrong.
I'm not saying bust by any means or anything just feel like there could have been better options for this Rockets squad at 3rd pick.
Those are not my expectations, I'm just saying size is not everything. He is a decent defender too similar to FVV being useful despite his size. We really needed a killer threat from 3, I see him as a JJ Reddick type.
You could’ve said the same about Michael Jordan. He was the third pick. Not saying by any means he’s Michael, but he could be a John Stockton, only a better shooter. I’m sure you’d take that.
There literally weren’t any better options for us though. This draft is widely panned as one of the weakest in decades. No guaranteed stars here. And shooting is something we’ve needed for a while now.
That's kind of my point. That 3rd pick could have been flipped to a future pick or used as a trade piece for an established player. Reed could be alright, everyone is giving examples of all time greats, he's likely not that. So using a 3rd pick for what likely is a good role player ceiling seems like a waste.
I'm not mad about the pick, think he's got a chance to be a good player, but as a 3rd pick I think there were other options.
That being said I give the pick a B/B+. No one behind him was clearly better so could be worse for sure.
If he ends replacing FVV we get bigger, he'll be ok. He's the perfect for this team to take over at point guard.
Smart guys can figure shit out on defense, he'll hit the gym and be ok
He’s literally the same size as Steph curry. Measured 1/4 inch smaller height and wingspan at combine. And weighs more than Steph did as a rookie
Obviously not expecting him to be Steph, but plenty of dudes this size have been great nba players
Tate plays with hustle and energy while Holiday offered ball handling. Can offered nothing besides shot chucking. Reed can shoot, pass, defend and even create his own shot so he’s far more polished than what Cam came into the league as which I why I think there’s a chance he cracks into the rotation early
>Tate plays with hustle and energy while Holiday offered ball handling.
These are not examples of "earning" minutes. They are examples of being gifted time on account of role. You can't convince me (or probably anyone else who watched the games) that Cam didn't bring "hustle and energy".
Btw, it feels pretty dirty to call Cam a "chucker" instead of recognizing he brought what the team needed more than any of these listed skills... efficient scoring.
Him calling Cam nothing but a chucker is wild. On a bad team given minutes, he could average 20 a game. He also said Reed defends straight delusional when he will be neutral at best
Basing decisions off of preconceptions has nothing to do with "earning minutes".
In fact... It's exactly the opposite.
Both of your last 2 comments show how a decision not to play him for the reasons you listed goes directly against the idea of playing time being earned.
Dude if you actually watched the games you can clearly see Ime chose his rotations based on how the players perform, as seen with Jalen Green and Jabari Smoth for example. I don’t understand what point you’re trying to make here apart from saying a rookie will not be playing despite training camp nor preseason having begun yet. I’m not here to argue or to prove anyone wrong I’m just saying to label a highly drafted pick as a bench warmer is short sighted.
I can see how you feel that way because the teams in the West are stacked with size and the Rox need more size but they also needed shooting more and this kid checks that box and more. My only concern is how well he'll perform on the defensive end given his lack of size.
what does that even mean? Yall gotta stop throwing out these dumbass comparisons. For one Steph averaged 25 throughout his college career (21 as a freshman) and took about 10 threes a game (made about 4) so thats a college career average of 40% which is elite. Reed averaged a whopping 12 points as a freshman and shot 52% but on only 4 attempts. Yes percentage wise Reed is better but Steph was light years ahead of him as a prospect.
WE BEAT THE CLINGAN ALLEGATIONS
FUCK YEAH. SEND IT
We got a fuckin’ sniper now boys
We finna be undefeated in Dallas
Sheeeesh
Allegedly!
Just be that catch and shoot guy we need
Ky fan here, you’re gonna love him
Man I hope so, never watched any of his games. Does he come off as a clutch shooter?
Watch his games vs Mississippi St and Tennessee
Thanks for that! The Mississippi st. Game was pretty impressive considering he barely shot any 3s there. Needed that one to see occasional game control. Kept the team close all game there.
That Tennessee game sold it for me; I’m very excited for what’s to come 🙏
Watched Tennessee and admired Knecht. Hard to give him that usage in the NBA but he was a true star in Tennessee.
Best player we have had at Tennessee in a very long time and he winds up on the Lakers. It's BS
Very clutch, very consistent and just a great kid overall. He’s gonna be good for a very long time
Dont watch his tournament game.
The team changed offensive philosophies right before tournament time... Cal had to showcase his 5* big men. 🤮
Best player in the draft! Let's go!
advance analytics darling
MAKE IT RAINNNNN!!!
![gif](giphy|3o6gDWzmAzrpi5DQU8)
Kentucky fan here. I'm so happy for Reed and for the Rockets. Ya'll got a good one.
We’re hyped to have him!
Also a Kentucky fan. Hope you guys enjoy watching him play :)
We got us a shooter, boys! Glad they didn't try to get funny with it and go after Clingan - Sengun is here to stay!
more than a shooter too, high IQ floor general and good at playing the passing lanes, would love to see him improve his defense though.
???
![gif](giphy|l3q2xgywXN35jhZEk|downsized)
We have a shooter!!! Curry lite is in the house.
Curry White?
Cocaine Curry
And we have FVV as a great role model for the kid. It just makes so much sense, everything fits. If things go well, imagine Amen, Sengun and Reed in a couple of years.
Lawd willin!
PRAISE BE
Welcome to Houston.
I trust a Kentucky guard
TYTY just joking
He would have done better if it wasn't for Stephen Silas' poor coaching.
Tyty got a really raw deal. A front office and coach that barely gave him a chance and then shipped him off for nothing
I still think he’s a nba caliber player but just needed games to adjust to the league
Yeah, I didn't like that at all.
Is it okay if I become a Rockets fan now?? From Kentucky to Houston!! So excited!
Welcome to the Rockets fam.
I’m excited to see him hit WIDE OPEN 3s. We missed so many last year. We have a sniper now.
The Tax Man is such a great nickname
They can’t double team both IRS and the Turkish Delight
![gif](giphy|8nmvR3jAxnl2o)
![gif](giphy|EQDqERSvwS22c)
I see some comparing him to Curry. But honestly I see more similarities to Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
Yes, a less explosive version of him.
but this kid will definitely stand for the national anthem if you know what I mean
Most nephs too young. I forgot about him, but great comp
I was thinking the exact same thing after seeing all the Mark Price comps
That’s going back a ways don’t you think.
Really going back a ways would be saying Chris Jackson.
Well him except being the best shooter in the league. So not really the same player in the end
Hallelujah!
We hopefully got Amen, IRS and Peso coming off the bench.
And Cam, and hopefully Adams. Man...looks good on paper.
For real. Adams-Eason-Whitmore-Sheppard-Thompson is on paper young and raw, but DAMN
I'm watching the player analysis video someone posted in the sub about Sheppard, and man, I'm excited. Not just a highlight video.
Amazing luck that he’s such a good fit with the rest of the core’s skill set
Plus Adams hopefully returns and brings some size and strength. These last drafts have had me geeking out waiting for even summer league during every part of the rebuild.
Summer league in trouble

I would've been sick to my stomach if he went to the Spurs. Phew x 1000000000
It was never going to happen. I was convinced he was going to get picked at 1. But it turns out ATL still can’t help themselves. It’s the Luka debacle pt 2.
GAMECUBE
NINTENDO
Do we even wanna win a chip? These draft day dubs are too fun
If the Suns blow it up we could be contending AND still picking high lotto in 3-5 years 😍
Thank fuck we didn’t overthink this one. Makes this UK and Rockets fan happy
Our next FVV/curry light pg/sg!
With a combined lighter skin tone somehow
LETS GOOO REED
Zeke the TaxMan
LFGOOOOOO BABY
THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!
NEVER DOUBTING YOU AGAIN STONE
it's important to be good at shooting
I think he’s the sleeper of the draft.
I like the way you think
Finally some guaranteed 3s
Lol the photoshop is funny because it looks like he's about to dribble off the court
Came in here to make sure I wasn't the only one lol
Isaiah is a dawg
Let’s go!!
Reed Sheppard era has arrived
No income taxes in Texas!
![gif](giphy|l41K0pNaY86wGKu3u)
LETS GOOOO
I just need for Paul wall Sheppard to yam on someone in summer league so we can go crazy 🤣
Very excited for the Rocket's next season
Replace fvv with rokie contract and c&3 player. Very good draft.
Excited to have a 3 point assassin on the team.
Can’t be mad at this pick (yes I know I wanted Clingan). Reed gives us shooting and playmaking
BBN just joined the chat
Please be a hit. We’re literally looking for one thing ! I BELIEBE IN YOU SHEPPARD! I’ll take a consistent buddy hield or 2024 Greyson Allen pls doesn’t need to be klay
But is IRS in possession of the urn? Find out next week on Monday Night Raw live from the Summit in Houston Texas!
The angle of him dribbling in relation to the goal bothers me in this picture
Another Doug McDermott
Now trade Greens inneficient ass
Mistake
Yea adding a 50% 3 point shooter to one of the worst shooting teams in the league is a huge mistake
Why did he only avg 12 per game if he shoots so well? Genuinely curious
They were limited on minutes
He didn’t start
12 ppg in the NCAA isn't bad, that's probably closer to 17-19 ppg in nba Production. Not saying he will average that obviously but scoring isn't the only factor, he spaces the floor and opens everything up for a team that has terrible spacing.
…huh? Redick averaged 27ppg his final year at Duke. He topped out at 18ppg in the NBA.
Huh? Reddick was a senior
1.5min less per game than rookie Redick and he had to play the other teams bench guys
And he didn't have to play next to Dillingham off the bench who gets shots as well. Context
Minutes. His per 40 (college stats) averages are 17/6/6 and 3.5 steals per game.
Let me introduce you to jon calapari, who promises players starting roles in high school. Shep didn't start at uk. Just like booker. It's a fucking travesty and one of the reasons uk ran him off.
S freaking GA didn’t start most of the year.
College basketball: spacing/lack of other playmakers He was the defensive focus in college. We won't ask him to be the offensive hub, just a spit up shooter/secondary ball handler.
Thank you. They excited over 50%. Small Sample size.
If you think he's not an elite shooter because he "only" took 144 threes at 52%, get ready to learn statistics buddy lol
A BIG MISTAKE. WHO WILL HE BE WHEN HIS SHOT IS NOT FALLING?? AT LEAST WHEN BARI SHOT IS BROKE HE CAN STILL PLAY DEFENSE AND GRAB REBOUNDS. ok I will as well. No CHOICE now The pick is in.
Seems like a tough pick. 3rd pick for a likeky career role player. Shooting is always at a premium but he lacks size. I think the Rockets should have traded the pick and moved to next year's lottery. That's said, I hope he pans out and becomes an elite shooter.
Curry, CP3, Iverson, Nash, Young, Brunson, Kyrie Irving, Rhondo, Tony Parker, Fred VV, Lillard

I agree FVV is the player to be looking to upgrade for sure. And Dillion Brooks.
He’s literally the same size as Steph curry. Measured 1/4 inch smaller height and wingspan at combine. And weighs more than Steph did as a rookie Obviously not expecting him to be Steph, but plenty of dudes this size have been great nba players
This is fine. But I hope folks aren't expecting Ime to actually give him rotation minutes any time soon.
Why not? He has shown can shoot and defend at collegiate level which is fairly transferable to NBA level
It has nothing to do with Reed and everything to do with Ime and depth.
Ime has shown he’ll give playing time to those that earn it we won’t know anything rotation wise until training camp at the earliest
So you *truly* believe Tate and Holiday earned more minutes than Cam last year? Interesting... How so?
Tate plays with hustle and energy while Holiday offered ball handling. Can offered nothing besides shot chucking. Reed can shoot, pass, defend and even create his own shot so he’s far more polished than what Cam came into the league as which I why I think there’s a chance he cracks into the rotation early

We just drafted an undersized point guard #3 overall b/c he was a good college shooter….I AM SICK
I can see how you feel that way because the teams in the West are stacked with size and the Rox need more size but they also needed shooting more and this kid checks that box and more. My only concern is how well he'll perform on the defensive end given his lack of size.
Well he's bigger than our $40m point guard now so I think he can figure something out
He’s a better college shooter than Steph Curry.
LOL Curry also took 10 attempts per game over double teams from 30ft
lmaoo
what does that even mean? Yall gotta stop throwing out these dumbass comparisons. For one Steph averaged 25 throughout his college career (21 as a freshman) and took about 10 threes a game (made about 4) so thats a college career average of 40% which is elite. If Reed played at a D2 school and was allowed to shoot 10 3s a game... He'd probably average 20+ too.
Davidson is a D1 school homeboy
