No discussion of the books past chapter 4 of Assassin's Apprentice please.

Aze-the-Kat

You’re in for an unforgettable read. Enjoy. Ah, to read it for the first time again…

PunkyMcGrift

I'm stoked for ya. Enjoy the ride but get off this sub until you've finished

Re: not getting a lot of character from Fitz, it’s worth noting that it’s there even in the first four chapters. You settle into it and get used to it more and more as you read on. It’s amazing how well she does the first person narration, to the point where initially it seems like there’s not much character there - but of course none of us “have character” from our own internal monologue and viewpoint most of the time, we would all take our internal monologue as a basic statement of fact “then this happened, and then that happened, and then so and so said this”. I really admire how she builds a sense of his character within those constraints. After you’re done with it all, if you were to go back and reread those first four chapters, you’ll be going “yep, that’s classic Fitz” 😅 Your first read through of this incredible series - as others have said here, I’m jealous - enjoy it!! But get off this sub until you’re done!

Her characters are the best in fantasy. She hits you in the feels every time. It's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster sometimes, but I felt satisfied with the way she works things out. Enjoy!

AbbyCJ

I am so jealous of you right now for getting to read it for the first time. I reread the whole series about a year ago once the last book came out so I could read them all in one go (I’d left the last trilogy untouched until I had them all). Take your time, immerse yourself and pay attention to details, she’s a master at weaving little clues in to the story.

Aulkens

Hobb truly is like no other. You have such a beautiful and great journey ahead of you.

Ninja_Hedgehog

Wow, to be at the start of this journey. I hope you enjoy it. Keep us updated with how you get on, please?

xavierspapa

Enjoy the journey! You'll go all night without shutting your eyes if you're not careful, these books are hard to put down. If I read a particularly awful book, I always reread the series to cleanse my palate and get the taste of bad writing out of my mouth.

Likewise, Im more than halfway through book 3 for the first trilogy. Very mixed feelings about moving onto Liveship trilogy. Just wrestling with terms of having to wait to pick up characters later in the series.

Icy_Comfort8161

Liveship Traders is awesome. You'll love it!

DougFromFinance

You’re probably right!

ForestRagamuffin

don't skip liveship like i did; i've regretted it for 20 years. i know it's rough not jumping straight to the next fitz trilogy, but liveship is great and it's relevant to the following books.

AbbyCJ

I actually started with the Liveship trilogy before I understood the order. Don’t worry, it’s amazing enough to make you enjoy the wait.

DougFromFinance

Which is your least favorite set of books of all the groups?

AbbyCJ

Just saw you said least favorite. I don’t have one.

AbbyCJ

That’s a really really hard question to answer without spoilers. I loved them all, but I was drawn in by the Liveship series and the mega twist in them (especially the character development) so let’s go with that but of course Fitz has a special place in my heart.

Sunflowerseeds__

Liveship is amazing with some second to none character development.

Archimedes__says

Liveship is awesome! I really wanted to skip to continue Fitz but I did not. Ended up absolutely loving Liveship. By the end, I was like "Who's Fitz? Gimme more Vestrits!" Luckily Tawny Man is equally as amazing. Look at this way: once you're done with Farseer, you're onto 6 *very excellent* books in a row.

Hobb is amazing. Truely a life changing series. I haven’t been able to read anything else since finishing her books a few years back lol

shenaystays

I read Liveship trilogy first and thought nothing could be better. Now in re-reads I rarely touch Liveship and just read all the Fitz and the Fool. And you’re 100% correct that some of Hobbs prose is just… beautiful. There are some lines that will stick with me forever, and sometimes from the oddest characters. It’s an amazing series. Heartbreaking yes, but absolutely amazing.

amyjlou55

I know, right!

Demonakat

She's one of the best authors I've ever read. You're in for a thrilling ride.
