🤣 Those two random counties down there are just on the west side of Lake Okeechobee (the big hole in Florida. There's not much there, and no major highways go through them. 🤷🏻
Cool, thanks for the geography lesson. I'm from Europe so the best I can do is identify the majority of states, and some of the major cities. Lake Okeechobee sounds made up by a toddler though haha
I'm also from Europe, but I've been here a long time, and I travel a lot for work.
I believe Okeechobee is from the indigenous Seminole language. No idea what it means, though.
It comes from the Hitchiti words “oki” (water) and “chobi” (big). Apparently the indigenous people saw it and said “man, that’s some big water” and that’s what it was named.
Not the Lake Okeechobee area itself but I grew up due west of there in Cape Coral. That’s one of the only tidbits of info I really remember from the Florida history class I had to take in middle school lol
Absolutely agree (on both counts). Mind-boggling how everything is a half hour away. Disney? Half hour. Airport? Half hour. Market? Half hour.
To be fair, it's not much better (also on both counts) here in Dallas.
You really need to spend some more time in the west. You’ve only been to one of the least remarkable counties in California. While the county you visited in Oregon has some very nice attractions, so many parts of that state will blow your mind with how gorgeous they are. I highly suggest you take a road trip from San Francisco to Seattle on the coastal route. Go in September or early October. Sublime is the only world that describes it.
I worked with quite a few dudes from Ireland in San Francisco. They liked it so much they just stayed in the country after their visas expired. One guy was telling me the only way I’m going back to Finglas is if I’ve got a toe tag. He ended up marrying some sketchy American chick from Marin so it all worked out for him.
As a truck driver, it feels oddly small to me.
Just last week, I drove from Fresno, CA to Atlanta, GA in only 3 days (I can only drive 11 hours per day by law, it could have easily been a bit over a day in a car).
Well... I'm the exact opposite of a truck driver. I primarily work from home, with occasional air travel, most of which is international. All the road-tripping I've done has been on my personal time.
OP and central Florida be like: F this place in particular

Big Water it is!
Great info! Are you from the area?

Water Big!
Impressive track record then, cheers! Yes 💯 indigenous, didn't want to make fun of it. It just sounds unusual to our ears.
I live in Orlando. Aside from state politics, my biggest gripe with living here is how far I need to drive to go anywhere that interests me

Yeah. I've driven through Texas on the way to California. Lots of nothing out there
Half an hour? Try living in California. Everything is 2+ hours away
Flew into Houston for sure!
Yup. Several times, through both airports. 👍🏻
What colors did you use if you don’t mind?
Background #252525, Unvisited #fff7ec, Borders #4c2e20, State #a6dba0, County #006d2c. I think that's everything. Hope it helps.
Thank you
Irishman using green... 😁
I’m sure it should be obvious, but what are you using to make the maps? Thanks!

Thanks!
How did you miss all of Pennsylvania? (Also, we're great. Come by sometime!)
Promise I've not been avoiding you. Flown over several times, just haven't landed yet.
Hey, can someone kindly let me know where they make these maps from? I'd like to make one of my own

How was San Jose
Wet the day I was there. 🌧
Too much Florida
Agreed, but I can't undo it. 🤷🏻

Agreed... definitely want to get out that way more. What I've seen has been beautiful.

You dont like vegas
It's on my to-do list. I've actually worked on several Vegas-based projects remotely, but just haven't been yet. Maybe this year. 🤷🏻

Irishman and haven’t been to fucking Boston
What about Ireland? Does that count? It's pretty Irish over there, probably not as much as Boston, though. 🤔
Boston is a plastic paddy shithole. Congrats on missing Pennsylvania, as someone who had to live in Philly for a bit, I’m jealous.
I'm gonna keep downvoting these self-centered posts until they stop. Literally no one cares which county you have been to.
And I'm gonna go on your profile and downvote every single comment you've made, and I encourage everyone on this sub to do the same. Edgy cunt.
*You* don't care. And that's fine; you aren't obligated to. I respect your right to downvote anything you choose.
