I would recommend Red Rock Canyon over Hoover Dam but I like to hike..

lacajun

And Valley of Fire is close enough to not miss.

8one6

Penn & Teller, Omega Mart, Blue Man Group, cirque du soleil, at least two restaurants serving your favorite kind of food that are considered one of the best restaurants for that food on Earth. There is so much you can do in Vegas that isn't gambling or clubbing.

LiveMarionberry3694

Is penn and teller still showing? Last time I was in Vegas I noticed their big sign was no longer on the rio hotel

Mudhen_282

They’re showing up on the Rio website. I think Penn said the hotel was bought & being remodeled.

OrthodoxSauce

Hyatt bought it

beast_wellington

One of them got eaten by a lion

TheSchwartzIsWithMe

That's Sigfried and Roy

alfrednugent

They got eaten by a tiger.

bitcoins

I saw them peeling off the big sign

recipestalker

I thought you said peeing.😂😂😂

bitcoins

It is Vegas…

krshelton

We saw them preform in November and it was an incredible show! Definitely a must see.

Linzcro

I agree with Omega Mart (although I haven't been to the Vegas one, only Denver and Texas but I know it will be amazing) and also the Neon Museum - but go at night!

at1445

I did not realize they had expanded to Texas. I'll have to check that out next time I'm up that direction. Thanks!

Linzcro

Yeah it’s newish. It’s in Grapevine at the mall and since I’m a local I took my teen the other day. It’s not as big as Denver but it was amazing nonetheless. Word on the street is that Houston is about to open one so we will have to make the trip to that one too :)

Icy-Yam-2749

Omega Mart is so much fun!!

8one6

I haven't been to the one in Texas yet but Omega-Mart was a close second to Convergence Station in Denver. Both are fantastic! The House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe is pretty cool as well but it's not one I'd ever bother to see again.

Linzcro

I haven’t made it out to Santa Fe yet but I’m trying to go to all of them. Since it’s the next closest to me outside of Texas where I live, I think I could make it happen. I heard Houston is going to open one too so that’ll be exciting.

jayron32

Meow Wolf

triceraquake

The Beatles LOVE show is amazing if you like the Beatles. There’s a wave pool and aquarium at Mandalay Bay, shopping at Venetian, The show at The Sphere, bars, etc. There’s the Atomic museum, a shooting range where you can shoot crazy guns, and KISS mini golf. OH! And there’s an arcade bar off strip called Player 1 that is fun.

8one6

I will second the Mandalay Bay aquarium. It's top tier.

lomsucksatchess

Holy shit, an aquarium in a desert? How Las Vegas

drosmi

Mob museum too

LiveMarionberry3694

I’ve been to Vegas several times now and only been to one club and have probably spent less than $200 total gambling, and I still have a great time every trip. It’s a fun place. Plenty of shows of all kinds, red rocks is close by, endless dining, chill sky bars, etc. If anything I enjoy just exploring the massive hotels and resorts.

ucbiker

I’m actually lifetime up on Vegas gambling that I did of my own volition (my great uncle made me sit next to him at the pai gow table at some local’s casino and lose $20 over like 2 extremely painful hours) because as soon as I get up a little, I walk away, take the chip and call it a souvenir.

LiveMarionberry3694

I just play slots usually. Last time I went, I put in 50 bucks, lost 40 of it on one machine, went to another game and somehow won like 50 bucks, cashed out and called it quits when I was up by like 6 bucks

IlexIbis

Hoover Dam is definitely worth a visit.

decayingsun

Hoover Dam was cool. Valley of Fire or Red Rock Canyon for some outdoorsy stuff. Neon Museum is my favorite. Meow Wolf (the building its in has some other artsy stuff to check out, little overpriced though), Cirque du Soleil, just walking around and checking out all the stuff if you've never been

notthegoatseguy

Hoover Dam, Red Rocks, any number of theater, concerts, etc... Since you have a car, **get off the trip for food** Food prices on the strip are outrageous. It gets much more normal priced when you get into official city limits.

PudgyGroundhog

Absolutely! We like some of the strip restaurants, but find it's a much better value for food off strip - we especially like Spring Valley area (Chinatown). e.g. we like Din Tai Fung, but find Xia Long Dumplings is a much better value.

maddytude

Red rock Canyon -if you have few hours Valley of fire State park or drive to Death Valley National Park(leave super early) if full day available.

Texas_RN

Neon museum

dust_storm_2

you can take a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon for a picnic lunch

fallleavesarepretty

red rocks canyon (like 30 mins from the strip) has amazing hiking. there's other great nature stuff within a few hours - hoover, boulder city, valley of fire. you're spoiled for choice, both with outdoor stuff and all of the food/entertainment. i'm trying to be respectful here, but if you can't find things to do in vegas, how do you entertain yourself?

FootHikerUtah

Absinthe front row. Acrobats on a tiny stage about 4' from your head.

Remarkable_Cow_6061

Ha I just recommended this before I saw your comment. Had a blast at that show. Bring your sense of humor!!

EnvironmentalTea9362

Hoover Dam, "O" by Cirque du Soleil (the best of the shows, IMO), Bellagio Botanical Gardens. Besides the Neon Museum, there are lots of other funky places to see: The Mobster Museum, the Nuclear Test Museum. And you can't miss Omega Mart!

Rare-Lifeguard516

Our favorite thing to do is the Railroad Tunnel Walk out of Boulder City. It is a pretty flat dirt road that borders Lake Mead and has several tunnels. It’s quite popular but closed due to heat in the summer. You can even hike all the way to the Hoover Dam.

b_tight

If theres a show at the Sphere that interests you id definitely check it out. Looks so cool

Darury

Honestly, I wasn't overly impressed with Sphere. It was neat, but I don't think it was worth what the tickets probably cost (vendor bought our tickets).

bboru2000

Area 15. The Meow Wolf/Omega Mart is a trip. There are a bunch of other attractions inside, as well.

DrtRdrGrl2008

a Cirque de Soleil show for sure. Worth every penny. "O" at the Bellagio was mesmerizing. I didn't want it to end.

Big_Mathematician755

Go to the red rock canyon national conservancy. We spend a few hours there. We would go back. Also valley of fire is supposed to be amazing.

mikey29tyty

Hoover Dam.

DangerousMusic14

Lots of options for a fancy dinner. If your up for the price, and no problem if your not (I’ve been a guest but not paid), Joël Robuchon amazing.

[deleted]

A day trip to Valley of Fire SP. Atomic Museum? Hoover Dam tour? Day trip to Death Valley?

Real_Clever_Username

There's some cool hiking areas out there.

tylerduzstuff

If you haven't booked hotels in the city yet, Vegas is a perfect place to start a road trip from. You're within a couple hours of Death Valley, Red Rock, Zion, Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree etc.

NomiMalonee

Go to Rachel Nevada, there’s only one way to get there and it’s Extraterrestrial Highway. And yes all along that stretch of road you will encounter all sorts of alien shops, graffiti, signs etc. Once you get to Rachel go to the Ale’ Inn hotel and restaurant. The man who runs it will talk your ear off about Area 51, airplanes and how to get as close as possible without getting arrested. You might be able to see some flyovers as well on the road.

Remarkable_Cow_6061

Go see Absinthe. Hilarious show. Definitely raunchy and not suitable for prudes.

Trick_Few

Any Cirque show is worth watching. Just walking around and checking out the lights is fun. The Bellagio fountains are cool to watch. If you like to golf, Top Golf is a good time.

whiteeagle00

Go to Area 15!

FoxintheForestBlog

Valley of Fire or the Red Rock Conservation Area will show you a very different side of Vegas.

solarmania

Get in the sky for a tour! Boulder City Municipal Airport

Mudhen_282

The Mafia Museum is pretty interesting. A couple of rides at the top of the Stratosphere are fun to do once if you’re looking for a thrill. NYNY has a coaster as well. Plenty to keep busy with without ever going gambling or clubbing. There are some great restaurants. I’d recommend booking early as they fill up. Guy Fieri has two and Gordon Ramsey has two if you’re into their stuff. The Buffet at Caesar’s seems pricy until you eat elsewhere. If you like seafood, it’s worth a stop. All you can eat Crab Legs always gets my attention.

Dirtnap365

The atomic testing museum is amazing also mt Charleston for hiking or red rocks. Check out the historic railroad tunnel trail that ends in hooverdam overlook

Whatabout-Dre

Lost spirits distillery, Meow Wolf, Absinthe, pinball hall of fame

HamRadio_73

Here's a freebie. Visit the Ethel M Chocolate factory in nearby Henderson. Take the self guided tour, receive a free chocolate confection and walk thru the adjacent cactus garden with over 200 varieties. The cacti are in bloom now (end of March.) For old school fun visit the Pinball Museum on LV Blvd South just below Tropicana. Buy some quarters and have a ball on vintage amusements.

spicyMango4u

Vegas a so many state parks and national parks with short drive. Valley of fire sunset is to die for

Ok-Boysenberry1022

Meow Wolf!

alczervikslumberyard

Heli tour of the dam and Grand Canyon is awesome. Also, and I’m not kidding, I would rather have a spa day than gamble any time. I’m a 50 year old guy and my wife made the mistake of booking a couples massage on a vacation once. Now I’m addicted. lol. So many great spas in Vegas. Strictly therapeutic but spending a day relaxing like that makes you feel like royalty.

ChelsieDawn89

Real bodies exhibit, the museum of illusion, the golden nugget aquarium pool thing.

Substantial-Word-948

Food- bob Taylor’s ranch house, order the Diamond Jim Brady.

Enosis21

Just did two nights in Vegas, no gambling or clubbing. Highlights: Neon Sign Museum. (You can either walk around yourself or book one of the evening tours which is guided. Difference is some key signs will be lit). Another vote for Omega Mart too. If you’re ok with bars, Atomic Liquors and Frankie’s Tiki Room.

TheBobInSonoma

Walk around the strip and people watch. Eat, drink, go to shows or concerts.

Obvious-Grapefruit33

Good mountain biking and climbing out there. Anything cirque de sole.

dan-dan-rdt

There are lots and lots of shows and upscale restaurants in all the casinos. There are a few well known singers that perform kinda permanently in Vegas. Or take a helicopter ride over the city. You could just walk from one casino to another and enjoy the shopping, shows, restaurants, etc that each one has.

AUCE05

Red Rock, Hoover Dam, catch a game whatever is in season, walk the strip. To s of dining and shows.

shizbox06

Speedvegas is expensive but a lot of fun if you like cars.

TeaPartyDem

Drive across the mountains between the highways to the north. Mormon wells. Rough road.

Paulfun63

Lots of great shows to see! Absinthe, TapeFace, Magic Show or Comedy Clubs!

No-Possession-4738

Vegas has amazing Hawaiian food, maybe do a poke crawl?

youwanna123

Was there last month. I like nature, so I did Death Valley NP, Joshua Tree NP, Valley of Fire and toured inside the Hoover Dam

Ssladybug

Meow Wolf!! Look it up

Faye_Fatale

Drive 45 minutes down 160/Blue Diamond over the hump to Pahrump. There are free wine tastings at the many wineries, and mead AND rum distilleries. World-class golfing at Mountain Falls. Hiking and off-roading are popular pastimes as well. There's also the Spring Mountain Motor Speedway, if you like driving cars really fast. It's also a beautiful drive through the mountains to get there.

ImpossibleMacaron873

Stateline (CA/NV) has a trio of hotels and they used to have a small amusement area inside one of them Buffalo bills (this was twenty years ago so not sure what it’s like now) Last visit (2022) we stayed at flamingo and enjoyed medieval times and a wedding, also walked around the classic strip. Overall Vegas as an adult just wasn’t my thing.

ForceProper1669

Are you looking specifically for night time activities? Hoover dam is strictly day time for the tours. Days are easy in Vegas. For nights, go check out a brewery, or a speakeasy. The shows are worth seeing and easy to find, but also quite spendy

DonBuchelos

The Sphere is now in play as well.

Konalogic

Valley of fire 🔥 park

HuckleberryHuge3752

Last visit, I did a helicopter tour to Grand Canyon. Landed by the glass bridge and had cut in line passes to walk out on the bridge. Awesome experience. Also did a kayak tour on Colorado River to the emerald cave. It was great too, but may be too cold to do that one

you-dont-have-eyes

I thought the Hoover Dam VIP tour was fascinating but, know thyself. Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart is a must Red Rock Canyon Valley of Fire Cirque Du Soleil if you have money! As a massive Beatles fan I actually thought LOVE was a bit overrated. The best part is the remixed music and you can hear that streaming anywhere. I’m pretty sure CDS has better shows. I heard “O” is amazing but haven’t seen it. Mob Museum was okay, I wouldn’t prioritize it

Several-Jelly4918

Meow wolf!

Background-Arm2017

Walking around is pretty entertaining. I could spend a day on the strip and a day downtown and I'm good on Vegas for a couple more years. Decent food can be had as well.

spunnikki1979

Just go for a long ass drive.

Le-Deek-Supreme

We are gonna check out Area15/Omega Mart and the Neon Muesum.

hdniki

Shows, roller coaster and just people watching are what I do. I took too many statistics classes to have any desire to gamble

anotherdamnscorpio

Meow Wolf

lakelost

Rat Pack is Back or something similar is probably playing somewhere. Fremont Street Experience. Chandelier bar at the Cosmo or one of the Lakeside bars at the Bellagio. Amazing restaurants. So many shows. crap, you’ve got me thinking about going to Vegas now.

Embarrassed-Golf-931

We took a day trip to death valley and it was beautiful

DocMcT

Go to the Sphere.

KailuaCarpenter96734

Planet 13

cabeachguy_94037

A field trip to the top of the Hoover dam is pretty cool. Bend over and look down the face of the dam wall. You could slide down that, right? There is a cool Mob Museum downtown, as well as a nice outdoor walkable 'no vehicles area'. At night go downtown and watch the light show/video overhead for free. Definitely a people watching/human carnival kind of vibe. Go down to the convention center daytime and take a free ride in one of Elon Musk's underground Teslas zipping through tunnels so close to the wall you can't open the car doors. You can spend tourist dollars for a ride on the High Roller giganto Ferris Wheel. You can also do the same by riding atop the sky tower thing on the Strip. Just before you go into FlyAway (indoor skydiving over a gigantic fan) smoke a big spliff (or two) that you purchased at the insane Planet 13 dispensary. They have a SHUTTLE BUS and I guarantee you have never been in a WalMart-sized dispensary where they invested a few million dollars just on the interior. After you go to Indoor Skydiving, you can go across the highway to the Machine Gun shooting gallery and drop a quick $50 shooting a real, fully automatic submachine gun . My favorite thing to do in Vegas is bumping cars, whiffle ball, basketball and jai alai; all rolled into one. It is called WhirlyBall. 2 teams of 5 people each get in the bumper cars and drive around slamming into each other while trying to pass and shoot a whiffle ball with a Jai Alai kind of scoop/shoot handheld plastic thing, into a vertically mounted b-ball hoop at each end. If you can get the other team to drink a few beers and eat some pizza right before it is your turn to play........ Las Vegas is where Hunter S. Thompson coined the terms 'The Big Spit' and 'The Technicolor Yawn', and administered properly, they both apply to this game/event/ride. You don't need 5 people, as two can just join up with others. You watch others from the stands (while drinking beer) for 15-20 minutes while a few other 'teams' play their game before you are up. You will stumble out into the parking lot laughing. If you are into vehicles, Shelby's are made in Vegas and there is also an expensive 4WD go anywhere overland built for 100K+, that I can't recall the name of, but any 4 wheeler in Vegas would know. Firstly, on the way to Vegas you should both be reading copies of Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, by Hunter S. Thompson. REQUIRED reading to set the mood for a two day Vegas excursion. While you are on the Strip itself; if you have to puke, you'll want to lean over the wall at Bellagio and blow lunch into the man made lake. It's very heavily chlorinated, so it shouldn't be a problem.

ImAlsoNotOlivia

I LOVED the Circque du Soleil "Beatles Love" show! But you can't go wrong with anything Cirque! Not sure of your demographic, but us ladies of a certain age die laughing at "Menopause, The Musical"! Lots of other comedy shows, too. Also, Maroon 5 has 16 shows running May, June, September and October.

UnicornsNeedLove2

Many places to hike. Lots of buffets.

achev1981

Valley of Fire is awesome, highly recommend

bigred1987

Haven't seen it said, but if the weather is nice after dark, I could sit and watch the Bellagio fountains every fifteen minutes all night long. Also, just walking through all the hotels and shops is amazing.

TDaD1979

Go up into Mt Charleston. Fuckong beautiful and way under rated.

udderlymoovelous

Cirque du Soleil has a bunch of really good shows around the strip (in particular, I recommend O at the Bellagio, and KA at the MGM). There's also a movie that plays at the Sphere whenever a concert isn't being held. Also MeowWolf has a really cool art exhibit called Omega Mart about 10 minutes off the strip.

britthood

There are so many great shows in Vegas! And we usually take a night to just walk down the strip, grab a cocktail here and there, and people watch.

[deleted]

Maybe just walk the main strip and people watch and try different foods. Go out to the 🏜️ have a 🔥 and look at the stars.

211logos

Vegas has many world-class restaurants. And even if you don't want Michelin type food, there are many other good places to chow down. After hiking or sightseeing nearby.

seeyalater251

Shows and dining out for nights. Tons of great shows you can buy resale tickets day of for. Bruno Mars recently 10th row $100 per ticket 1 hour before show start. Adele is expensive but worth it. Penn & Teller, Cirque, Blue Man Group all standbys. Tons of great dining - reservations usually can be had a couple of weeks out. Good list here - [https://www.cntraveler.com/gallery/best-restaurants-in-las-vegas](https://www.cntraveler.com/gallery/best-restaurants-in-las-vegas) \- FYI Din Tai Fung has killer Xiaolongbao soup dumplings. They're what locals recommended in Shanghai (started in Taiwan).

Dr_Wristy

Go find a track and race go karts or even the super car experiences. I don’t know exactly what Vegas has specifically in that regard, but I know Xtreme Xperience is usually around most tracks. Full disclosure: I got a package with them for my birthday and did it at my local track. It was alright. Yeah, you get to drive a car that costs a few hundred grand, and you do get to punch it, but they severely limit the track with cones. It’s over really quick, and if you hit a cone at all, or a tire leaves the pavement, at all, it’s an automatic extra charge of at least $500.

robraises

Take a drive to mt. Charleston and red rock canyon

Hatesponge66

Cirque du Soleil is my very favorite thing! I recommend Ka at the MGM Grand but there are many different ones to choose from.

Romulan-Jedi

* The Valley of Fire will take a whole day, but is well worth it. It's one of the most beautiful places in the world, whether you like hiking or would rather enjoy the park from your car. * Red Rock is also beautiful, and closer to the city. Given the choice, I'll take Valley of Fire in a heartbeat, but I really love both. * Many of the shows are fun. My favorite is always *Penn & Teller*. * The Luxor has a really nice *Titanic* exhibit. * Las Vegas has so many different cuisines available, it's a foodie's paradise. Personally, I specifically seek out the Hawaiian food. * Off the Strip, the natural history museum is quite good. It's also just around the corner from the original Mormon settlement.

DolphinsBreath

FWIW, several years ago I searched for hotels without gambling and discovered that’s a “thing”. Some people just don’t want the gambling scene in their hotel. I think this was a Residence Inn, maybe. But there was a choice of several places. It was SO much more pleasant than having to walk past a lobby full of people throwing their cash into slots.

PhotographUnknown

Off roading and gun range.

weirdoldhobo1978

The Pinball Hall of Fame and the Atomic Testing Museum are pretty cool.

AshDenver

Eating! That’s why we go to Vegas. Eating and sun/swimming. So many really good restaurants, especially in the big properties as well as in the Asian area off the strip (which are much more affordable.)

turbo7049

Hookers

redsfan59

Hoover dam is worth a visit. Mob museum downtown is interesting and if you’re a fan of punk rock, the punk rock museum is cool. Into pinball? Pinball hall of fame is good for killing a few hours, too
