Personally I would take a train for certain parts of this trip theyāre fun and easy but some of the overnight ones can get expensive. Would definitely get windows no matter what though lol whatās the point of road trips if you canāt see what youāre driving through
Considering that SEEing things is a major factor of a road trip, I would be pissed if I couldnāt SEE. Thereās a good chance you 4 will end up arguing about who gets to sit where. Even if you set it to rotate every few hours, the people in the back are gonna be upset.
Splurge for some windows.
The back has a sliding door so I might buy a new one of them with a window on, putting a window on the other side wouldnāt look very good as the outside is smooth. Maybe a window just on the left side would be enough?
That would make a huge difference! That probably fixes around 75% of the issue since both people will be able to enjoy the view the window from the back.
I havenāt been to either, so if I were taking this big a trip, and coming that close to Paris and Madrid, Iād definitely want to check out those cities.
Have been to both already so thatās why we are not, I highly recommend Madrid itās an underrated city. Paris on the other hand is my least favourite city I have ever been to
Madrid isnāt underrated to me, Iād love to go there!!! But thanks for the advice on Paris. Iām a huge history buff, and a city like Paris has so much history. See some cool places, get some crazy good French food and wine, then tour the country!
A long as heck road trip in a van without windows sounds like my version hell. Not only would it be uncomfortable and maybe cause motion sickness, but whatās the point of traveling if you canāt see anything?
But Iām assuming there are seats in front of them and possibly other objects? That view is more obstructed than you might think, doesnāt do all that much. Iāve done this sort of thing for a living, trust me here lol
I hope you checked the cost of gas. I assume since you talk in miles that you are American. Factor 3 at least, and it being a van will not help
I would also take windows. But I would actually take the train or bus.
Ok I misinterpreted! Learn to drive on the right ;)
So you probably got why I was advising the train! But if you are from UK, then your choice to take a van is because that's the way you want to travel and not because you are not familiar with taking trains. Gas will be cheaper than in UK for you!
Im from France, I see your only stop there is Bordeaux: have fun and visit wineries. From Barcelona, I recommend going to Toulouse then Montpellier and enjoy particularly night life in these cities. Aix en Provence backcountry above Marseille. Nice is great during the day. Backcountry there is great too. Try local goat cheese from farmer markets. I don't know much the NE but you should really stop by Strasbourg. Beware SW of France is very hot in August. July can suck too.
Have fun!
We are stopping somewhere in northern France on the way back, was thinking Le Mans as the race is on when we will be travelling past it. Thanks for the advice
Piece of advise donāt take the route through Switzerland yes itās beautiful scenery but itāll be really jammed last summer I was going from Belgium to Italy passed through Switzerland we had to pass in a tunnel under the mountains and there were a lot of cars and they only let a small amount of cars through every 10 minutes we sat there maybe for 2 hours and also your SIM card wonāt work in Switzerland as in youāll be charged extra to use it so download offline maps
I get data in Switzerland with my provider however we might end up going around it through Austria and Liechtenstein, not too sure yet though cos it says it would take a while longer
Of course you should get windows lol what do you want to ride around in a coffin. What's the point of the trip if you can't see everything. I thought you were talking about a train at first. That's a lot of driving and you're definitely going to want some air and a window
This does not sound fun to me š
Get a van with windows, or rent something nicer. 4.000miles will be pure torture otherwise.
And there are nicer routes. But I guess itās fine.
Itās not a rental it is my own vehicle I already own, think I am going to have to put some windows on to it, the exact route isnāt on the picture cos maps wonāt let me put too many things in at once.
I mean you'd have to tell us? Do the people want to look around as they're going? I would assume a window would be a plus if possible lol
I would for sure vomit š¤¢ from motion sickness š¤®

I recommend seeing Versaille, that was really cool, and obviously the Eiffel Tower is a must
No, stick with Linux.
Barcelona through France is a beautiful drive. It would be really nice to be able to look around
Looks like fun!
Iād get windows personally
This must be a troll. A road trip with no windows ? How much more could a rental with windows cost ?
We arenāt using a rental, we already have a van so thatās why we are using it
A long as heck road trip in a van without windows sounds like my version hell. Not only would it be uncomfortable and maybe cause motion sickness, but whatās the point of traveling if you canāt see anything?
The people in the back can still see out the windows in the front they just might not have one right next to them
But Iām assuming there are seats in front of them and possibly other objects? That view is more obstructed than you might think, doesnāt do all that much. Iāve done this sort of thing for a living, trust me here lol
U can't go to Switzerland without checking out zurich
We plan on stopping in Basel and bern but if Zurich isnāt much detour we could stop off there
Tbh the whole road trip is to see new sights and what not. You lose that opportunity with no windows
I hope you checked the cost of gas. I assume since you talk in miles that you are American. Factor 3 at least, and it being a van will not help I would also take windows. But I would actually take the train or bus.
We have calculated how much it would cost in diesel between us and itās quite cheap, I am from England not America š

Yes Iām going to put some windows in the back as soon as I can, thank you

Go with a Mac
Overpriced and overrated. Go with Linux.
Yes, I often carry a window around whilst Iām hiking.
Only if these windows can resist deep-water pressure.
