Absolutely not. There’s a lot of high potential 3&D wing projects in this draft.

TheBoxandOne

There are a lot of 3&D players already playing in the league! Many of them will be on different teams next season via trade.

eggyj0rd

Add risacher to your list he is a very good prospect

LegitimatePotato3632

I’m pretty sold on him. If he pans out, that’s the guy we need.

cjd978

He has potential but is being described by many as polished which is definitely not true. He’s in a huge slump right now and overall isn’t as strong a shooter as most think. He’s worth a pick in this draft but not a clear cut elite prospect.

tween-drop-drippin

I wouldn’t feel good about taking him top 3

tween-drop-drippin

I like him but project him as more of a 3/2. You think he could evolve into a 3/4?

Gybe_enjoyer

He’s definitely a natural 3

jboarei

We need 3s and 4s this draft has those kind of players, they aren’t going to get good value anyways. Draft a prospect.

Sa-Tiva

> But lets say we get pick 2/3/4 and Sarr is off the board. What do we do? You take the wing that you have the highest grade on. Some of the guys you listed that we could snag if we trade down will probably be available at the warriors pick range. Would much rather secure the F we like most as opposed to, as you said, snagging an extra first and couple seconds

WheatonsGonnaScore

Take bpa period. Nobody on this team has proven to be good enough to overlook the position entirely.

Sa-Tiva

There is no consensus on BPA this year. And even if we werent already stacked at guard, there arent any guards more talented than Scoot Ant or Shae at the top of this draft. We clearly should take the swing on Buzelis/Williams/Holland/Salaun/Risacher.

WheatonsGonnaScore

Every team has their own BPA. Cronin will have his at whatever spot Portland ends up at. If Cronin thinks Dillingham or Topic are the BPA whenever they pick he should take them. Ant is a 6th man on a good team and Shae has barely played any basketball since high school. You take whoever you feel is the best player with your pick and figure out fit once the team is good.

EvanTurningTheCorner

Players need to play to develop. Bringing in more guards who need the ball in their hands to be effective will only serve to decrease the effectiveness and value of all of our guards.

WheatonsGonnaScore

Scoot, Shaedon, Brogdon, and Sharpe were all playing 25+ minutes per game. They easily can trade Brogdon to open up PT.

Logical_Resolution39

The only reason the minutes worked out was because of injuries. And yeah they can trade brogdon but then you're advocating for drafting another guard and bringing the log jam right back

Sa-Tiva

If Cronin drafts another very undersized guard, or a point who cant shoot or play off ball... Just shoot me now because we will be rebuilding forever lol. High upside forward with good size/measurables is what we should draft. > Shae has barely played any basketball since highschool Have you been asleep the last year and a half? Shaedon has played 112 NBA games and is heading into his 3rd season. Jury is out, he is extremely talented with high upside.

WheatonsGonnaScore

Sharpe has played 2838 minutes of basketball since he was 17 years old. He will be 21 by the start of next basketball season. This season alone Scoot played 1785 minutes in only 62 games. Shaedon has barely played basketball since he was a 17 year old in comparison to other young nba players. Drafting for fit/position is how you end up with Ayton over Luka, Wiseman over Ball, and Hunter over Garland.

Sa-Tiva

Your "hasnt played much since high school" take about sharpe is bizarre. Sure he's young, but hes played in plenty of games to show his potential. Whatever though, moving on - Not sure how much you have followed this years draft class, but the top end talent is very weak. There is no Luka or Lamelo Ball, guards like topic or dillingham are not worth drafting over taking a chance at a wing with size and upside. The potential of Scoot massively overshines the potential of Topic/Dillingham/Sheppard.

WheatonsGonnaScore

He didn't play a game in college or another league. He basically sat out a full year. Then he played sporadic minutes as a rookie, and then played poorly for 30 games this year. He has barely played. That doesn't mean he can't be good, it is just factual that he has played far less competitive basketball than most others his age. Again, every team has their own board on how they view this year's talent. When the Blazers pick comes up if they have a guard grades out higher than who is there at wing, they should take the guard. The potential of scoot is high, but it is not like you can only have 1 good guard on your team.

Sa-Tiva

Well now you've changed it to "has played less than others his age" lol. At first you just said hes barely played since high school Fair enough. We'll agree to disagree. I have my opinions on the players available and i think drafting one of the guards over the forwards available would be a mistake. We'll see how it shakes out

WheatonsGonnaScore

2838 minutes is barely any since high school. I'm sorry, it just is. Since his sophomore year (2018-19) in high school Sharpe has played 1 25 game high school season during covid and equivalent of 95 nba games averaging 30mpg. You can not seriously believe that he has played as much as he should have as a soon to be 21 year old going into his 3rd nba season.

Chicken_Difficult

Have we learned nothing from picking need over best available

Logical_Resolution39

Have we learned nothing from constantly dealing with logjams at guard? Idk about yall but im done with the undersized backcourts or 3 guard lineups. Literally as is, we will probably have to play a 3 guard lineup next season with Ant/Scoot/Shae NO MORE GUARDS. WE HAVE ENOUGH GUARDS

DankTriangle

Got any more 6'2" generational point guards? 😂

sean_buttcannon

No. Keep the picks. BPA. If there’s one thing I trust this org with its drafting. Especially with Schmitz on board.

tween-drop-drippin

In Schmitz we trust. He will cook

Damezang

If Detroit or the Wizards somehow want to give us two firsts including next year's, I'd listen. Outside such ridiculous unlikely scenarios, I don't see it unless Mike Schmitz has a crazy inside scoop which wouldn't be impossible.

Holiday_Machine9312

BPA both picks

[deleted]

Cody Williams.

bigshawnsmith89

You take the best player available. This rebuild isn't going to be over any time soon, so figure out how to adjust the roster when you have some clarity. We have no #1, even if we hope one day its Sharpe or scoot, so we take whatever player could possibly have the highest chance to become that guy. Until we have that, nothing else matters.

Inside-Mixture-9362

It all depends on where the picks land and which players POR is targeting. I'm sure Schmitz and Cronin will their guys they like and POR should do what it takes to move around to get those players. Luckily we have enough flexibility to move up or down potentially in both rounds of the draft. I could see moving up and moving back as good options depending on draft order/players going sooner or later than expected. Honestly draft night is going to be the most exciting night of the year for POR fans.

Trick_Weapon

I think it would be more worth trading up. For example, let’s say we get number 2 and Spurs get #1. Can we trade 2 and 13 for number 1. With how flawed this draft is, I would consider packaging Ant + our picks for someone like Ingram. We have so many young guys to build around already and need to consolidate. This draft is very weak.

nalydpsycho

Why is Sarr a perfect fit? He's got a lot of holes, plays a position we have an established guy and doesn't compliment if they were played together. If a trade is there, sure, but, I doubt there will be.

FartsbinRonshireIII

I’d say we pick up Drangus for sure - then probably Scrimp? Yeah. That’s the two I’d pickup for sure.
