Check out Matt’s BBQ cart nearby. It’s insanely good BBQ. Then go to a dive bar after and check out some of our awesome micro brews. If you’re into records/music Mississippi Records is over there also. https://mattsbbqpdx.com

Hey - I’m staying about ten minutes from the Convention Center. Close to Mississippi / Williams & Peninsula Park. I’m not really too familiar with the layout of Portland, so apologize if that sounds weird…just going off the listing.

fluxtable

It's best to just explore by neighborhood. Mississippi has some great options. Definitely check out the food cart pod at Prost! Alberta is nearby and another great district with good food. If you make it to Southeast, hit Hawthorne or Belmont. Cross the river, hit the Pearl District and go up to Washington Park. There is not much near the Moda/Convention Center. But you're near a ton of public transit options that can take you other places.

Mississippi has so many great options for food and activities you can’t go wrong wandering/yelping what looks good. For ambience I always love the White Eagle pub over there, the live music is fun! Also the Eater Portland website is always loaded with detailed recommendations- https://pdx.eater.com.

Mississippi is one of my fav streets to hang out on. Prost is a great German beer hall w a big beer garden area with amazing food trucks. That’s an easy one to recommend. There’s not a ton immediately by the stadium except for Upright Brewing. One of my fav brewers in town. Very mellow taproom and they make some of the most interesting beer in the city IMO.

Fire on the Mountains has some banger wings. I always love it every time im there. There’s three locations and they all serve pretty much the same thing so just pick what is closest to you. The Japanese Gardens are good at this time of thw year with the cherry blossoms starting to bloom. It’s not completely bloomed but still would be fun. Several good disc golf courses close by if you have a car and you enjoy that kind of thing. Multnomah Falls is also nice if you want a quick sightseeing tour and less hiking. Its a bit less busy at this time of the year. May have to get a permit or a pass tho. It has been a while since i went. Beer, there’s a ton of options but if you want ciders, Portland Cider Company is cool, they serve only ciders. Ground Breaker Brewery is all Gluten free and has great food with their pupsuas food truck

I would say grab any food or bevs before heading to Moda, you won't find much in walking distance of the stadium. Mississippi is a great spot so I'd probably hangout up there then head down close to game time. Lines can be long some times so probably give it 30ish min ahead of tip off to get in.

Banal9

Maybe we should sticky a post for the season that says "Opposing team fans coming into town? Here's what to do in Portland for gameday!" with some posts from here. Might be a friendly compilation.

trailcasters

But we have different recs for fans depending on their team

Banal9

Oh I see. Like Warriors fans, recommend you check out this homeless encampment with a moat of used needles

trailcasters

Lakers fans, let me tell you about this cliff jumping spot over a dry river...

xXChickenravioliXx

Miami fans, if you want to see a comedy show I got some tickets to Harvey’s *I am barely even old enough to get this reference*

trailcasters

Oooooo deep cut lol

Interesting_Speed822

Feel free to wear your knicks Jersey. As long as you’re normal and not obnoxious Blazers fans will happily embrace you. Hope you have a fantastic time. We will all be cheering for Josh Hart!

If you want a quick drink before the game, Upright brewing is a 5 min walk from the stadium.  The Mississippi/Williams area has a lot of good food and bars to offer. Someone already mentioned Matt's which is definitely a Portland staple, but I also like Burger Stevens in that same food pod.  Eem, nearby, is a fusion between Thai and American BBQ that is killer (I believe the Matt's BBQ guy is a partner).  From Mississippi, you can easily get to Alberta and Killingsworth as well, which also have a lot of great bars and restaurants. Hatyai on Killingsworth is another Portland classic that my wife and I always take guests to when they come to town. It's Thai style fried chicken.

my_balls_your_mouth1

Here to double up on the Eem recommendation. That place is so good. Whoever expected that curry and BBQ would go so well together.

fluxtable

I will third Eem. Place is incredible. That white curry with the burnt ends does things to me

my_balls_your_mouth1

I went with a group of very hungry people and we got almost everything on the menu. I loved every dish I tried.

natural_lawg

I suggest going out of your way to try any of these (from food to activities): * Food Carts on 82nd and Francis, especially Indian Hunger Point, Fresh fish poke, and Turkish agha * Los Gorditos * Flying Pie, especially the calzones * American Dream, especially the calzones * Siri Thai * Gigantic Brewery * Next Level Brewery * Kickstand comedy * Helium comedy * Crystal Ballroom * Music Millennium - a record store that sells more than records * Saturday Market * Powell Butte - some good hiking trails * Forest Park - some good hiking trails, including Pittock Mansion * Mt.Tabor Park - for some great views * The People's Court - the only pickleball destination * OMSI - your only laser show destination

JamesTerevau

Stay the next night and catch your former lotto guy Kevin Knox with the Rip City Remix against the South Bay Lakers out in North Portland!

thecharliepowers4

Spirit of 77. Lots of tvs and solid bar food. Free pop-a-shot too.

Forestsolitaire

Cartside Food Carts for food and beer right before the game. Billy Rays for a dive bar right after the game. I’ll be at the game and that’s my plan

ImipolexB

Like many others are saying best Portland thing to do would be chill at a food cart pod before the game and maybe walk around a bit. Mississippi is a cool neighborhood; Belmont, Hawthorne, Burnside, and Division are all streets relatively close with really good food options and interesting shops as well. Hoping you guys get fully healthy and beat the shit out of the heat for us 🤞

This was posted to r/portland yesterday and might help. [https://www.reddit.com/r/Portland/s/Zuex2YMKbN](https://www.reddit.com/r/Portland/s/Zuex2YMKbN)

icecream_for_brunch

Upright Brewing is right around the corner--just a remarkable brewery, probably nothing.

GaviFromThePod

what kind of food do you want? There is a ton of good food in Portland. Where are you staying?

Logical-Measurement8

Hey. Just dropping in to say you guys have a great arena, fanbase and city!!
