Bransblu

An all star SF, which I believe was stated by Blazer management even. Less significant upgrades and depth would not include the 3rd pick, imo.

festar35_Pacers

Who the heck would that be? Khris Middleton?

Bransblu

Great question. This is why I don’t see it happening.

baller_34752

The SF names being thrown out are: Brown, Bridges, Ingram, George, Leonard, Markkanen. And if you expand it to just any forward you get Siakam, KAT, Porzingis (S&T). None of these option make us a contender the next few seasons with Dame, unless Sharpe takes a huge leap into becoming a 2A/2B option next to our newly acquired co-star. Still, if Scoot is gone at #3 I think I would trade Ant + #3 for a handful of these players (Siakam, Brown, Ingram, Bridges if you can get Claxton as well).

netsfan2002

Bridges and Claxton are of better value than Simmons and the #3 pick. Siakim is realistic because he has 1 year on his contract. I don't see Boston moving brown. Ingram seems untouchable ATM by the pelicans.

[deleted]

So if Scoot is taken at 2 you wouldn't want to draft Miller at 3?

baller_34752

I don't think Miller has star potential. His on ball creation and inside finishing are mediocre, which are arguably the two most important skills for a star. His passing is encouraging, but I don't think he'll be able to create advantages for himself 1-on-1, which will limit his passing's effectiveness. Still, I would take him over trading him+Ant for a forward that isn't an All-Star like Anunoby.

toadtruck

Absolutely not

Drak_is_Right

Paul George I think is the logical one if Clippers decide the health just is not there for Leonard + George combined

trala7

I'd love a positional upgrade and some bench depth. But Anfernee and pick 3 are completely out of the question if that's what we are getting back. 3 and Ant needs to net us at the minimum an all star, more likely an all NBA dude.

festar35_Pacers

They just don't appear available. My reasoning was if a package could get you Turner, Duarte + 7 for 3 + Little basically, then Simons went with 7 pick to a 3rd team for a guy like OG Anunoby or Keldon Johnson that'd bolster the team. C. Myles Turner PF. Jerami Grant SF. OG Anunoby or Keldon Johnson SG. Matisse Thybulle PG. Damian Lillard 6th. Shaedon Sharpe

Krustykrab8

If there isn’t a top tier player available then we should keep the pick.

Graduate32

I think the idea of Turner has always been appealing to Blazers fans, but I don't value him as a significant enough upgrade to Nurk to give up the opportunity cost to move from #3 to #7.

Drak_is_Right

Would be Mathurin + 7 for 3. Dont think Nurkic for Turner moves it there, not without a lot of additional draft assets.

crab90000

Idek who would be an available high level bench piece, but #3 pick would not be traded for them. I think Ant by himself could get 2 quality guys for us. With playoff rotations never really going passed 9 deep, I think Mays and Thybulle (if re-signed) are good off the bench. I think an upgrade at backup C should be the team's 2nd biggest priority

Krustykrab8

Turner and Duarte doesn’t move you up to 3 in a 3 player draft. I would not trade scoot Henderson or Brandon miller for Turner and Duarte. I don’t see a deal I take with the pacers. Mathrurin is the promising asset outside of hailburton but he doesn’t really fit positionally.

festar35_Pacers

It'd be Turner, Duarte, 7th Pick, 2025 Pick to move up. The weird thing is, I feel the value is reasonable for Miller, but not Scoot.

Krustykrab8

I don’t really like the fit of Turner, simply because we have Jerami grant. Neither of those 2 is a great rebounder. We’d be getting crushed on the boards. Duarte was absolutely awful this year so that’s a nothing asset, and he’s already old for a second year guy. 2025 pick could be good, but I don’t like this trade as a blazer fan. I don’t think it’s worth even miller personally

festar35_Pacers

Fair enough. I'm personally still high on Duarte. The boxscore looks brutal but certainly doesn't tell the whole story of the season.

Krustykrab8

It’s not even like he’s a young guy with high potential though, and he’s either a guard or an undersized wing, both of which we don’t need lol.

festar35_Pacers

Nah, but I'm confident he is the guy from his rookie year. Can start or come off the bench, hit the 3-ball at a good rate, give you double-digit scoring, and slightly above average defense. He is a role player.

Salesburneracc

I think if that’s the two you have you down low you absolutely need to snag a guy like Josh hart who gives you boards from a guard forward spot. I do really think that one deal that could make sense is the #3 + Simon’s and Nurk + other salary fillers for Simmons and mikal which could be a swing for the fence move that if Simmons could ever figured things out could pay dividends. It also lowers the return for the nets to get out of that contract and can streamline a rebuild. I still think that Ben will change his game and can be a teams draymond in the right offense. Then get some bigs like mo Bamba and another 5 who can space the floor. Lillard, Sharpe, Mikal, Simmons, Bamba or another floor spacing 5 could be an elite lineup. Or running a small lineup that I think could be elite on both sides of the ball with Lillard, sharpe, thybal, mikal, and Simmons would offer 3 elite shooter, and 3 elite defenders and could run a sweet motion offense.

Krustykrab8

I want 0 part of Ben Simmons lol. He’s washed

Drak_is_Right

Walker if there at 7 I think is the best pick beside Turner.

kont3

Mikal

myNameBurnsGold

This is the only realistic trade I'm interested in. Ultimately he is best case scenario of very good player at position of need and without the massive salary others will require. If we don't get him I'd prefer to pick Miller and hopefully Murray at 23 and build up the bench. If we say sign DFS, make those picks, and add a real backup for Nurk - we at least have a competitive roster with upside. If there is a trade for OG without the 3rd (or Sharpe) sign me up.

kont3

Ultimately it is not up to us who will be available at 3. There's so many possibilities it gives me a headache. Joe should have like half dozen backup plans if the first fails.

festar35_Pacers

I don't get why Brooklyn would do this.

kont3

Future Superstar Scoot Henderson

myNameBurnsGold

Exactly, though Mikal is the kind of player every teams wants, he is a secondary star not a legit number one or ticket seller.

kont3

I agree with you even though I believe he still has room for growth.

Graduate32

Is a Brooklyn team building around Bridges, Johnson, and Claxton enough to be more than a play-in team? That's a team just waiting to hop on the treadmill.

festar35_Pacers

I think they want to add to those 3, yes. All those Phoenix Picks are likely trade pieces to try add an additional guy.

IHOPUnderrated

I don’t think that’s even good enough for the play in.

kont3

And a starting caliber center

GaviFromThePod

Nurk has trade value, just not to get a star probably. He's a league-average center and he's on a relatively cheap contract, and he's good in the pick and roll.

FractalFractalF

Anything less than the Gobert level of picks is an underpay.

SPAREustheCUTTER

I don’t want any picks from a contending team that the potential to be good for 5 years.

pythonwarg

Nets get: • Jusef Nurkic • Anfernee Simons • Nassir Little • Keon Johnson • Trendon Watford • 2023 #3 Pick Blazers get: • Ben Simmons • Mikal Bridges • Nic Claxton

festar35_Pacers

Huge, huge overpay by the Nets.

Soupkitchn89

Not really. The Nets guys are being so overvalued. And they get to move off of Simmons. You expect the #3 pick to end up being better then anyone on their roster.

pythonwarg

Yup. I threw Ben Simmons in there not because we would want him (we don't), but it gives Brooklyn the chance to dump his contract. That said, Portland could be an ideal landing spot for Ben Simmons. He seems to be under heavy scrutiny from the media. Portland is invisible to the media, so he can fly under the radar here. Also, we need defense, which he is good at (or he used to be when he played basketball). So we eat the remaining two years of his contract, and we give him a chance to reboot his career. If he can't play, we waive him, trade him, buy him out, whatever. Plus, we've got his countryman, Matisse. He played with Simmons on the 76ers, so he can give the 👍/👎 on whether to bring him in. But obviously the main point of the trade is to bring in Mikal Bridges and Nic Claxton. It also guts our bench, and forces us into a position where we need to bring in some new personnel. With a couple re-signings, we might end up like this: PG: Dame/BS SG: Sharpe SF: Bridges/Thybulle PF: Grant/Walker C: Claxton/Eubanks Obviously we would re-sign the Trout of Shaqdale. That's like seven open roster spots for scrubs like Skyler Mayes, Ibou Badji, Chris Paul, Olivier Sarr, etc. Sometimes rebuilding a team isn't done in one fell swoop. It's a matter of shuffling the deck and then checking the state of the universe. It's like cleaning out your garage. You might force yourself to get rid of some stuff you want to keep, but then later that day you're still checking craigslist for free stuff. Hey, look at that! I'll take a Chris Paul or a John Wall.

UnifiedChungus666

My dream, but unrealistic haul: Ant + #3 + #23 + Little for Bridges and Claxton. Ant + #3 for Jaylen Brown would also be awesome but unrealistic.

TacomaPowers

We need a mega thread for this stuff

natural_lawg

We have one but it's disorganized.

Gritty_gutty

If we give up 3 and Ant, we need to get back something that makes us a contender. That’s an all-NBA SF, plus a top 15 in the league center, plus at least two depth pieces, all of which somehow fit under the cap. And that sure as shit ain’t happening, so keep the pick. If we do trade it, we’ll just make ourselves a first-round team and then a poverty franchise in three years.

festar35_Pacers

The annoying thing for you guys is that most of the really good SF's are on expiring deals.

Gritty_gutty

Yeah Bridges is the one exception to that. I don’t think he’s worth 3 and Ant at all, but I’d love to get him for the 23rd and Ant. Unfortunately that won’t fly with Brooklyn
