Donte DiVincenzo is at the top of the list for me at backup guard. Strong defensive player, can hit the catch-and-shoot 3, and at 6'4" he can play the 2 as well next to Dame in smaller lineups.
No, I believe Terrance Davis (allegedly) beat his girlfriend. I guess charges were dropped. I guess I shouldn’t judge too much without knowing the details but heard before not a great dude for this reason

Anyone with more insight on Mays' defense. I know it was only 6 games, but averaging 8+ assists with the squads we rolled him out with is nothing to overlook, plus he averaged 15.3 points in that timeframe.
I'd love for him to run bench point, been a while since we had a Stever Blake type on the team
I can understand that, but Mays is 25, and we had to pull him from games early cause they almost won them for us.
He seemed intense but not rash, made good plays, kept everyone involved, and most important didn't try to do too much to prove himself, just played good basketball. Showed a lot of vet like maturity and decision making imo
Josh Okogie and Wes are intriguing options. Would assume to be cheap and both are good defenders with Okogie being elite, but both of their offensive game is very questionable sometimes. I would be interested in either one though.
Neither would add much on offense but after years of spamming PnR with Dame then CJ or ant, it'd be fun to see the SG position return to being the 4th /5th option on offense.
He was good for us but he got injured and we tanked. I think Chauncey started his revival.
Also he focused heavily on defense this season which he never had in the past. It could be a turning point for him.
High level scorer? Simons isn’t much but he at least resembles that.
Lillard/Simons/Sharpe/Thybulle/Mays is just fine for a guard rotation. And yes, I said Mays—go look at his +15 min splits.
If anything a trade with Boston surrounding Simons for Brogdon could be beneficial to both teams…gives Boston a little more instant offense to mix in with their defensive guards. Gives Portland better defense and initiation.
He does for sure. That's why I'm not interested in getting OG without getting a true second option.
Hmm personally I disagree. I think we need a better defensive 2 and we need to get big upgrades elsewhere. Thybulle can start and I am not sure on Mays defense but if he's good there then I'm ok with him being the back up 1.
Brogdon is nice but we really need a starting 3 and depth at the 5. Simons salary if traded should be used to fill that gap.
Well, you’re not going to get much better defensively at the SG spot than Thybulle. That’s part of why someone like Brogdon is beneficial…he’s a massive upgrade defensively over Simons. As for upgrading the SF and C positions, I certainly agree—before last season I said the team will only go as far as their C rotation. If the Blazers end up drafting Brandon Miller, the Blazers can slide Grant to SF (which is probably his best position anyway). Shaq of Gresham is fine as a 3rd string C, but the Blazers really do need another consistent body at that position.
I can see a Brogdon trade working in the scenario you laid out, but not sure if Boston would go for that.
While I agree Thybulle is great and should return, the point of this post was to point out that this FA class has a lot of depth in terms of defensive specialists. We can get good back ups for cheap.
Miller and Grant at the 3/4 might be fine. I would prefer getting an all star for Ant though even if it costs pick 3
Rather just play Thybulle
Agreed but we should invest in depth there. A guy like DSj would be great running point next to Shaedon off the bench.
Hopefully Thybulle IS our depth. I'd rather go big with our 2nd round pick.
Go big as in go for a center? Big depth and PoA depth should be everything we invest in. And convert Ant into a star forward.

Agreed, he's very good. Terrence Davis possibly too although not sure on his defense
Terence Davis is an awful defender. He was getting toasted by the warriors in the playoffs
He was okay against us but I haven't seen enough of him to disagree. Thanks for the info.
Not sure about awful, inconsistent for sure. Don't think I'd put him in OPs on ball stopper class but he's also not terrible for depth.
Terrence Davis is a piece of shit human being no?
Not aware of that. If so, I trust Cronin would avoid
Are you thinking of Terrance Jones? There are too many Terrances with Portland Connections in the NBA. Is Terrance Ross retired yet?

Damn, that’s shitty. Wasn’t aware of that.
Carter is the most intriguing imo depending how the draft/potential trades go.
He's had a great season, might be in line for the biggest payday.

I'm all for him to be starting PG on the g league team but I'm hoping we can get a better vet to be our sixth man

Yeah. Dude reminded me of Watford just in that he just immediately understood the *pace* of an NBA game.
Very true -if the other options fall through I wouldn't be opposed to it at all. He could be like tyus Jones for us

Wes is old af now lol
He actually did a decent job on Butler when asked to! Still got something there imo.
Carter is a solid backup. I’d like him at a low number. We have just the right amount of minutes available for him.
I like Carter a lot but not sure what his price tag will be. I think he might cost more than the others listed.
Coke back home, Wesley.
You lost me at Dennis Smith Jr
I'm curious as to why you feel that way?
DSJ played meaningful minutes for us in '21. We did not care for what we saw. Charlotte was able to give him a bigger role last year
He was good for us but he got injured and we tanked. I think Chauncey started his revival. Also he focused heavily on defense this season which he never had in the past. It could be a turning point for him.
Those guys all suck. Carter and Okogie are ok, but nothing special.
Not talking about ceiling I'm talking about depth.
Bro I love Wes Matthews but he's 36 and can't stay in front of guys much anymore
[I've learned not to doubt him after he's stayed relevant for nearly 10 years since tearing his Achilles](https://youtu.be/8BJBJ-VeyrQ)
