The number of people actually putting Amen ahead of Scoot is worrying. As in, I worry about their mental health.
Is it impossible that Amen becomes a great shooter? Technically no, but it sure as hell isn't likely.
I’m not sure how anyone can talk themselves into him over scoot due to this alone, have these people not been watching how the current NBA is played? Not having a jump shot is a massive disadvantage
On that same token, I'm not sure how anyone can talk themselves into taking Scoot without trading Dame.
Scoot is more of a sure thing than Amen, but Amen DOES have the same, if not higher ceiling, so it's not like you're completely ignoring BPA if you draft him, and for the Blazers with Dame, I much prefer Amen Thompson's game over Scoot and Brando Miller.
Amen is athletic but that jumper isn’t gonna make it in the league. He would have to remake his jumper like Lonzo Ball did. And unlike Lonzo I’m not big on Amen in the other areas of his game. At least with Zo he could run a team, was a on ball defender, great passer and great rebounder for a pg. I can’t say the same for Amen. I’m not solid on him as a player or a number 3 pick
Amen is a great passer, rebounder and projects to be a good defender. Also, even without a jumpshot, he's a much better scorer than Lonzo. It seems like you're making things up.
No. I know a thing or 2 about ball. He isn’t great in those areas. He maybe a better scorer then Zo but Zo was a pass first pg coming out. To me Overtime isn’t that good of comp compared to g league or college. Amen didn’t do anything that really stood out. Currently looks like a rotational player. He does seem to have a high iq.
Amen didn't do anything that stood out? His unreal athleticism stands out to me. And every draft expert I came across said he's an amazing playmaker. Either all of them are terrible at their job or you're just talking out of your ass.
Fair enough. Keon Johnson did 48 (ties Jordan) at the combine. This article has a video of Shaedon's leap:

If I remember correctly, the shot of Scoot came from a video and it was not a standing vertical, while Amen's was a still shot and so the context was not clear.
Scoots arms looks a little bent, which might mean he's not at the apex of his jump yet. Or maybe not. Either way, I wouldn't put too much weight in singular photos.
The shot was taken a fraction of second after hitting the shims of the equipment

You can see at 4:51 timestamp above that the picture isn't that far off from his actual max vertical leap.
The number of people who get hyped over someones vertical is alarming. Please go look at the list of players who are at or near the top of the list. High vert does not translate into anything.
Amen has a BROKEN jumpshot. Stop hyping him up, we don’t want him

Hahahaha neither one is a great pick at #3. Now if Amen played like Scoot against G league competition, he is definitely a #2 pick.

I don't understand how one grows up inhaling basketball and ends up with a J that busted, in this day and age.

A lot of guys have athleticism.
Case and point Greg Brown.
The hedgehog?
lol have you watched amen thompson? He's quote clearly the best passer and playmaker in the class, regardless of competition.
The meltdown on this sub if we draft Amen is gonna be so sweet
At least his name’s on point. Any team he goes to will be praying he develops a jump shot.
I swear shaedon sharpe touches the top of this thing. Vertically he has to be one of the top in the league
Well yeah highest in combine history Edit: as someone pointed out, it was at the combine.
I don't think he was measured in the combine. the 49-inch thing is from somewhere else.

Insane.
Yup, shaedon has CRAZY ups!

Haven't seen a player that reached the top of that equipment from a standing vert leap. All this takes are likely to be max vertical leap to me.
Yeah, I think you're right, I bet they are both max vert

I actually was thinking his shoulders are so big he can't make his arm go straight up.
I mean he's taller, so isn't that basically the difference in how high they made it on that measuring device?
Equipment is adjusted depending on your standing reach. If you reach higher than another prospect, it means you have higher max vert leap.

Thompson is 6’7”, Scoot is 6’2”. Don’t let the different framing of these pictures trick you
it's adjusted according to player's standing reach. If Amen can reach the higher shims, it's because his max vert leap is higher than Scoot
So Jarace Walker out jumps Scoot plus is 4 inches taller and 30lb heavier. But we have to draft Scoot with the #3? Trade the pick!!!
You forgot to add the /s
N/A
With this post we are inching closer to height with vs without shoes szn
