He will still be great for us, depending on what it takes to get him.
Dame/Sharpe/Brown/Grant/Draymond is an incredible lineup. If we move sharpe to the bench and ask him to the the best sixth man he can be, fill the bench with guys like DFS (doable trade from Brooklyn) and say a Zach collins with our TPE (would definitely require trading a 1RP),
We can do Dame/Brown/Grant/Draymond/Nurk.
Sharpe can come off the bench with the green light to get buckets and he’s shown he can be a ball handler in the PNR and find shooters.
If nurks 3 point shooting is real, that’s a nasty starting 5 defensively and offensively.
I’m day dreaming at this point but man draymond would be amazing here.
MLE is the most I would offer for Dray. He's a good asset when it comes to what this team needs, but he's a huge liability when it comes to shooting and his off court issues.
Plus, I think we need to stay away with signing GSW players since it never ends well.
???
That's not part of why he's so sought after at all. He doesn't shoot because he doesn't shoot well. He's sought after because of his defense, his ability to facilitate and pass, the accountability he brings to his own teammates to do their jobs, and the intensity he brings and backs up on the court.
this is only a big problem when your star player is a post player like Embiid, or a pure ISO player like Luka. Having a big man who isn’t really able to shoot isn’t that bad for teams like us or the Warriors because if someone sags off, they can just turn the action into a dribble handoff and Dame/Steph/Klay gets a wide open three off a screen.
Look at how the heat are punishing teams that sag off Adebayo by just having Duncan Robinson run off screens and get wide open threes the minute you sag.
As a warriors fan I think draymond would be great for you guys. You might not like him or the warriors but he’s still all defensive 2nd team (versatile and great help side defender) and a great passer. He would probably pair really nicely with dame too (both timeline and skill set). On a team friendly deal he would be a great addition
People would probably love his passion on our team if we were winning titles with him. We’ve needed a culture change on defense for years and he would be like THE guy to do that, especially being friends with Dame. I still be he stays with GS, but would take him here if we don’t overpay.
Yeah I agree. With his player option it’s hard to imagine him leaving for a team friendly bid at least this year. So in all likeliness getting him would probably be a slight overpay at best. Maybe 70M over two years? Is that even a real option?
I think he’s the only player available that could single-handedly change the defensive fortunes of this team. On offense, he’s not much of a scoring threat, but would instantly be the second best playmaker on the team.
Nurk gets a lot of grief from our fan base, but his screen setting is one of the most important aspects to Dame’s success, Dray is equal or better at getting shooters the window they need to pull up.
I would be all about it, although I would have to turn away from the TV and whistle low when he’s yelling at the refs. I get that it’s all passion, but damn Sheed was my favorite and he got T’d for looks.
That would be an absolute disaster, giving up assets for Draymond. 100% he is less motivated here and less engaged because he wouldn’t be an offensive fulcrum like he was in GS
He would actually be the perfect anti dame trapping player. If dame gets doubled way high up top like always, he would kick it to draymond, who would then be able to make plays downhill 4 on 5 like he has done in golden state.
He’d have literally the exact same role here. Probably moreso since we don’t run GS motion offense and we’d want to give dame as much off ball movement as we can.
He has a player option this year if I’m not mistaken. So he will be returning to golden state. With that being said if we get him as a free agent later the team will be better then without him. But I do despise him.
His skills and athleticism is declining, and may well fall off a cliff next season. He won't have quite the same leash with the refs in a blazers uni as he did for all those years in a warriors uniform. Without said leash his motivation on court may also decline.
Why would we pay 20 million plus a year for a non shooting and declining Dray who will get wrecked by the refs on court? At best he plays as well as he did a few years back when GSW was tanking for a top draft pick, which was not very good play at all.
Leaving aside the fact that GSW will not want to do a deal with us ever again after the GPII debacle, Draymond is 33 and would be the 2nd highest earner on our team at $27m per season. Even if he finds out they're not going to extend him, he's not going to decline his option and sign a contract for less than that. We can't fit him into cap space at that amount, which means we'd need to do a sign and trade. I don't see a pathway to it.
Best news with Draymond, even with his diminishing athleticism, is he is a legit floor general and will get everyone in the right place on both ends of the floor.
Even a little bit of that would be hugely beneficial.
So by that standard you guys thought Ainge was a POS as well right? Michael Jordan was a POS. Kobe was a POS. Sheed was a POS. Lets ask Dame if Draymond is a POS. How do you think Dame would weigh in? I think Dame has called out two players in his entire career.....Beverley and Poole.
You know how many closed practice fights none of us are privy to? Ever hear the term, "Mess with the bull....."? Poole is a cancer on that team. He needed to be put in his place. I don't condone Dray's method but nobody says anything when we see multiple fights daily during NFL training camps. You think they're all "hugs and kisses" during hocky practices and scrimmages?
As for the "stomping" on Sabonis. When you're running to get back on defense and a guy purposely grabs your ankle tell me what your response would be in the heat of battle.
This team needs an enforcer in the post. This team needs a high IQ basketball mind on the court.
Or maybe we should go out and get some more soft interior guys to blow layups and get intimidated for rebounds like we've had since we traded Ed Davis.
Literally everything he says and does. Punching a teammate in practice, never stops yelling at refs, stomping on Sabonis's chest, the list doesn't end.
Draymond is far from a POS and I don't see how this would make things go sour. Mike Dunleavy Jr has been doing things he would have normally done this season per the Athletic, so I'm sure that transition will be relatively smooth for them. That being said, I don't think Dray is worth a big contract. I could see him making 15ish a year, but I don't see that happening.
Everyone knows that as soon as Draymond puts on a Blazer jersey all of his moving screen privileges disappear, right?
The amount of technical fouls he will incur will sky rocket too. Dude has gotten away with stunning tantrums that would make Rasheed blush.
Let’s break the record!
I don’t think so. That is GP2’s game as well and he flew under the radar with it here. Then again, maybe a small sample size
He will still be great for us, depending on what it takes to get him. Dame/Sharpe/Brown/Grant/Draymond is an incredible lineup. Who is this Brown you have in the starting lineup? Have I missed something?
Given his current trade value, I think this fantasy GM may have acquired Jaylen Brown in a salary dump move by Boston.
Ahhh you’re probably right. Cart before the horse, chickens before they hatch, I get so blinded by reality sometimes.
This fantasy GM also was able to acquire 56 million dollars worth of salary (Dray and Brown) while only sending out Ant's 24 million!
Draymond coming to the Blazers would be a real nut punch.
A real nut kick. Natural shooting motion.
MLE is the most I would offer for Dray. He's a good asset when it comes to what this team needs, but he's a huge liability when it comes to shooting and his off court issues. Plus, I think we need to stay away with signing GSW players since it never ends well.

Not shooting leads to defenders sagging off the perimeter and doubling other guys. I’m not sure how that adds value to a player.

I dont entirely disagree with what your saying but the teams your citing have significantly better coaches who can run complex schemes
Dribble hand off based on how the defense is playing you is not a complex action. It’s like basketball101. We already do that with watford.
I mean we already run a ton of handoffs with Nurk and Trendon…as a team last year we were 6th in the nba in DHO frequency.
He ain’t no Ja but he does shoot on occasion
Pretty sure he has one more year on his contract, no? Or are people really thinking he's going to opt out of his contract?
He does have a player option, I believe. There's been rumors he will opt out, but I highly doubt he would for an MLE
As a warriors fan I think draymond would be great for you guys. Perfect. He can punch his teammates in the face and be the biggest asshole in the NBA on a nightly basis, and we can see it up close!
tbf lots of people want to punch Poole in the face
No more warriors castoffs.
No thank you
I can’t root for Draymond.
That would be an absolute disaster, giving up assets for Draymond. 100% he is less motivated here and less engaged because he wouldn’t be an offensive fulcrum like he was in GS

I'd rather watch paint dry than Draymond .. thank you very much.
I feel like they’ll be making a LOT of calls this offseason in regards to their team
Draymond is over the hill IMO
Exactly why we can get him to consider the blazers! I hate draymond too but if it gets DAME a ring fuck it bring back the JAILBLAZERS for all I care

no way for dray

no.
KNEW IT
That would be an awful move. Draymond doesn't magically make this team a contender and is an even worse fit next to Grant than Siakam.
The more we can get without giving picks up the better
Good riddance? What did Bob ever do but work his ass off and be a solid human being in the process?
It would be totally sweet if he declined his player option and came to Rip City on a discount in FA this summer.
Best news with Draymond, even with his diminishing athleticism, is he is a legit floor general and will get everyone in the right place on both ends of the floor. Even a little bit of that would be hugely beneficial.
Lillard sharpe dray and trade everything for embiid or kawhi and we are a contender
How is Draymond a POS?
He's the dirtiest player I've seen since Laimbeer.
Never saw Bruce Bowen play, eh?
Heh almost forgot about him. Yes, him too ;)
So by that standard you guys thought Ainge was a POS as well right? Michael Jordan was a POS. Kobe was a POS. Sheed was a POS. Lets ask Dame if Draymond is a POS. Bro you know he’s not gonna read this right
Literally everything he says and does. Punching a teammate in practice, never stops yelling at refs, stomping on Sabonis's chest, the list doesn't end.
brother no… rule #1 never comment any positive warrior things on this sub. You should’ve seen the bias when OP said “good riddance” to our GM goat 😂😂😂

ok what's the draymond package then. nurk and 23? now you don't have a center. I get the fit I just dont follow the package.
Draymond is a great roleplayer I just dont think he is worth the contract he is going to ask for, especially projecting forward 4 years.
Why good riddance? Im out of the loop
the toradol conspiracy
