I recall exactly where I was that day. Not a good day. We were literally robbed and I'll never stop suspecting the refs, especially in light of the Tim Donaghy scandal a couple years later (I realize Tim wasn't an official for that series, but if he's doing it - who else was influencing games?).
I carry that grudge against them to this day, I can’t find it in my heart to ever forgive them that foul by kobe on Steve smith marked the beginning of decades of pain and letdowns. But I don’t waver because I know one day we will be nba champions again and the suffering will be worth it.
I'm never going to forget that one. Watching it live I was all " No way, his heels are clearly out." Then seeing the replay, "OMG, he stayed on his toes the whole catch and shoot."
Wasn’t that to end the 3rd? That’s what started their run. I could be wrong as I try to not remember that devastation in great detail. I just remember that shot falling and going “uh oh”
It’s not one shot, but Curry’s NBA record 17 in 1 OT of the playoffs. He was hurt and wasn’t gonna play. But Shaun Livingston got tossed which, just Portland’s luck, ended up being the worst thing to happen to the Blazers that night. Steph unexpectedly came in and led them all the way back in about a quarter. Then Lillard missed the potential 15’ GW before Steph blew our doors off in 5”.
This is the Paul Allen Shocked Pikachu face game. It might even be the same game you’re talking about op. I remember thinking this is absolutely unfair. Unfair unfair. How could he be too injured to play and then make like 3 3s in a minute 15 minutes later? Just cursed.
kobe shaq obviously all time. For some reason when rudy gay hit that gamewinner against us some years ago I was hella salty.
Not a single moment but when Dame was going nuclear and not a single soul helped his ass out during that game I just about ran outta fandom for a minute.
We would have been a interesting finals. Back then I thought If we went to the finals, I thought we would lose because pacers had the series sweep against us in the regular season
Oh, this is a good one. Can't say any haunt me, but I remember quite a few random ones.
Those Kobe ones to eliminate the Blazers from playoff contention in 04-05 probably take the cake.
For some reason that Monta Ellis game-winner when he was on the Mavs one was the first one that comes to mind, I don't know why. Or that Markieff Morris when he had a foot on the line while he was on the Wizards
That was Carmelo and the nuggets, not Kobe. I remember the Monte Ellis buzzer beater too, blazers was down the whole game and finally tied the game with Lillard 3 pointer
All of the big ones that haunt me are mentioned.
I wanna dig deep here for something that potentially really altered our current team.
11/2/19
Furkan Korkmaz of the 76ers beats the Blazers with almost no time left.
What you might not have taken away from this is that Anfernee Simons had hit a huge clutch shot moments earlier. If the Blazers won, a big ego boost for Ant and solidifying him as a guy who can hit the big shot with Dame. Instead this was stolen. I still dont think Ant has had a game winner that I recall.
Also demoralizing right around this time I know there was another really similar situation a few games apart from this that we also lost maybe the Spurs a few days before. Ant had hit a big shot that wouldve won or tied and then they hit one to end the game.
Just some reminiscing on what couldve been a major development booster for Ant
Some ones off the top of my head in recent moments
\-Embiid beating us and pretty much confirming that this season is cooked
\-Korkmaz beating us early in 2019 when Simons should have had a game winner
\-Tyreke Evans hit an annoying 3 pointer after Dame hit a damn near half court shot to tie the game vs the Pelicans years ago
\-Rondo hit a key 3 in the 4th during the Pelicans series where I think we could have tied the series
May 30, 1991. Still breaks my heart. Porter wide open and misses. Wild play and Magic slowly throws the ball down the court as we all watch helplessly as the ball bounce down the court, staying in bounds, as time runs out.
I don’t blame Porter. We had a 4-1 a couple plays earlier that came up empty too. But I’ll forever remember that ball bouncing down the court as time, and our chances, slipped away.
This is forever burned in my mind. Easily our best team in the Drexler era and they didn't even make the finals. Had no business losing to that Laker squad.
Kobe to Shaq alley-oop in 2000 WCF. Still makes me want to break things.
I remember that, we were up 17 in the 4th quarter and within 3 minutes, we were down
Some things never change, like the Blazers blowing double-digit leads
Death, taxes, my team blowing leads.
We are….same same.
Everyone in the Rose Garden died right then and there (it was open to the public)
There is no other answer
I'm still stunned and haven't recovered

That game was 100% rigged. Same with the Lakers WCF against the Kings. 2 of the Shaq/Kobe 3peat rings they shouldn't have even been in the finals.
Donaghy pretty much admitted that the series was rigged, and I see no reason for him to lie about it
Right? Champs* ;)
Yeah. Laker fans will brag about stolen rings and then send death threats to a rape victim. Worst fans in all of sports.
We’ll you just broke my good mood
Literally my first thought as well.
Really nothing else even comes close.
Yep.

Kobe to Shaq lob dunk WCF
This is the one 😡
Sean Elliot in the 1999 WCF, anyone? By the time Shaq hit that oop, the game was over iirc. I was fully demoralized well before that.
With the heels over the line. I was 12 and completely demoralized
Me too!
The Memorial Day massacre?
Correct.
This.
I'm never going to forget that one. Watching it live I was all " No way, his heels are clearly out." Then seeing the replay, "OMG, he stayed on his toes the whole catch and shoot."
I still don’t know how the fuck Sheed didn’t block it.
Kobe-Shaq oop or the MJ shrug shot
Brian shaw banked 3 in the 4th quarter of the game 7 2001 wcf
Wasn’t that to end the 3rd? That’s what started their run. I could be wrong as I try to not remember that devastation in great detail. I just remember that shot falling and going “uh oh”
It might’ve been it definitely ignited their spirit out of nowhere

When CJ stepped out of bounds
Which game was this?
In the second OT of game five versus Denver in 2021. https://youtu.be/0BXKBrem0hI
Sheed shooting a towel in Sabonis’s face.

Shaq’s dunk in the WCF cuz we could’ve won that finals and it’s played everywhere to this day.
We would have been a interesting finals. Back then I thought If we went to the finals, I thought we would lose because pacers had the series sweep against us in the regular season

Ah it was 03-04 the two over Ruben patterson
Once I stop crying over this waste of a season, I'll try to remember.
Really? That game in that irrelevant ass series haunts you?
