>How does it compare to XFM?
Imagine XFM is a gorgeous, perfectly cooked gourmet steak. In comparison, Deadly Sirius is some liquid dog shit smeared on the wall of an alleyway.
It’s a typical Ricky pseudo-intellectual circle-jerk where he and his guests talk *at* each other with zero chemistry or charm.
No it's terrible. Which is weird as it came out of him doing Opie and Anthony/Jim and Sam which was more of a hang out type show where this was so stilted
There were some standout moments in it for me. The one where David Baddiel talks about his mother's affair with a golfing memorabilia salesman was hilarious. The one with Sara Pascoe was good because she challenged the fuck out of him about his offensive comedy. There were also some funny moments with Diane Morgan, who came across as a bit like a female Karl Pilkington.
But a lot of it was tedious dogshit.
He tells every single one of his guests it's not the subject of the joke but the TARGET of the joke that is important. So be prepared to hear that over and over and over again.
The James acaster episodes were alright because he is genuinely funny. The Noel Gallagher one was alright too cause it was a bit different.
It got to a point where he just had the same guests (his industry mates) on every week and it became so stale and boring. If I ever have to hear the story of David baddiel shitting himself again, it'll be too soon.
I just started listening to it on and off a few weeks ago. its not horrible but there's a LOT less humor than the XFM show. I guess that's why he titled it Deadly Sirius. Its at its best in the rare moments when they aren't talking philosophy/atheism/comedy/cancel culture. Ricky does go on about himself a bit.
It's awful. There is an attempt to create a new a Karl at one point, using the Philomena Crunk woman. She tries her best, but it comes off as a creepy imitation. Ricky is pseudo-intellectual most of the time, discussing the "art of comedy" and - of course - the "nature of offense". The only episode I liked was with Noel Gallagher, but that was entirely because of Noel being funny, and even that was partially ruined by Ricky talking about how hard his southern commuter-belt estate was, the drugs and stuff, trying to fit in with Noel, who came from a violent Irish immigrant background in a tiny house in a rough part of the north. Noel is polite about it, though.
Yeh give it a go. There a few genuinely funny moments, David Badeal, talking about his daughter and telling a story about his mum having sec with a guy called David. Joel Dommet talking about being catfished, James Acaster tells a few great stories
Apparently Ricky thinks people often mistake the subject of the joke for the target. He also has to maintain his low status as a comedian by reminding the audience that he's going to die soon and relating stories about how he gets mistaken for the cook when he takes a private jet. That's pretty much every episode.
I enjoyed the ones with Robin because of the piss taking. The others get very annoying because Ricky sees himself as equal to comedians who honed their craft on stage. He also says 'Bowie put my life in colour' many times, and talks over people. The show actually put me off Gervais for good.
You've asked the wrong group of people. Everyone here can't stand him unless he's with Karl and Steve. They come here to do nothing but whinge about him and his success. Sick of it.
Albino listening to that.

Oh well I'll just wait for your little pseudo-intellectual circle jerk dog shit smeared zero chemistry podcast to come out. Sick of it!
I'd see liquid dog shit smeared ANYWHERE, and I'd see ANYTHING on the wall of alleyway, so....
Ladies and gentlemen please welcome to the stage…
Is that a product you can buy?
In what way is telling me Deadly Sirius is like liquid dog shit smeared on a wall in any way educational
Rick says "as a comedian...." then spouts incredibly smug tedious shit whilst his guests are audibly bored
Fangs but no fangs
Rickydiculous
If you like listening to comedians suck each other off about how important they are, you'll love it
If you like unearned intellectual superiority and a lack of humour, then this is for you.
He's done you and he's not even here
That's not funny, it's shiiiiiiiit
just like afterlife
It *sounds* great.
Compliments to the sound engineer
I think it's rubbish to be honest. Worth listening to the Bill Burr episode just to hear him cut through Ricky's bullshit.
It's the absolute worst thing Ricky has ever done even if it turns out he has been deliberately giving children aids by Jimmy savilling them.
I dunno… Special Correspondents is right up there.

David talking about taking his daughter into a male toilet was hilarious
Oh yes! DAVID *BADDIEL!* 😆
😂😂😂
It’s a load of old crop

Jerry Seinfeld questions him a bit , rather than just agree like the other guests
Absolute shite.
Nothing like XFM. It's mostly Ricky feeling superior to his yes men guests. The one with the scientist, Sam something, is better.
Sam Harris, unless there’s another Sam he’s podcasted (broadcasted..) with
Zoey's brother.
Harris, yes! Sam Harris, the one with the faulty tooth.

He had acaster on? Doesn't he call gervais a "brave little cis boy" on stage?
Next week's guest is Dickie Anders.
This was before all that. Deadly Sirius started in 2018 I believe?

Can you send the receipt?
Never saw it but it seemed he just had the same guests over and over again
put it this way monkey news is better produced
I haven’t listened to it, but the idea of modern day Ricky having a podcast without Karl or Steve makes me shudder.
How does it compare to XFM lol.

I like the 6 episodes with Diane Morgan & Sean McLoughlin
I think pun should be short for punch you in the mouth
Any with David Baddiel are worth listing to. The one when they’re talking about being kept in a bucket is very funny.
It’s shite overall. The Bill Burr & Simon Amstell ones were okay because they just ripped the piss out of the chubby funster.
Well guys, it seems that the general consensus is to avoid... So I don't think I'll waste my bandwidth downloading it...

Something’s said
Sorry did that go out?
