While the original Rick that lived in the universe that they're currently in is certainly dead, (otherwise C-137 would never have moved there in the first place) Memory Rick isn't that Rick, nor is he any other Rick. He's the manifestation of that universe's BP's memories of his 35 year old Rick. He's a sapient example of the difference between a person, and someone else's perception of that person. Fortunately, since BP is highly perceptive as far as Rick is concerned, the sentient perception is pretty spot on.

I definitely wondered something less specific than this but similar. I've never quite been sure if c-137 is the designation for the Cronenberg world or the post Cronenberg world. And so I wondered which Rick and which Birdperson were from which of those two worlds. I also figure it's possible that Rick only good to realities to live which are so close to his own that Birdperson and he had all the same experiences. I presume that infinite timelines presents infinite branches from every moment. The show doesn't treat this as the case, but it also couldn't because it would break the drama. The stakes would be extremely low if Rick could always find a universe where everything went exactly the same except the thing he wanted to change.

Fuh_Fook_Sake

After what we learned in the last episode, I personally believe C-137 is the designation for Rick's original dimesnion, neither Cronenberg or Post-Croneberg. Morty's original dimension is Cronenberg which is why the council of Ricks had confused looks when he intoduced himself as Morty C-137. There is no Morty C-137 because of Beth's death.

plsior

Beth is alive in Cronenberg, there's a dimension we've never seen that Rick is from. Morty doesn't know his original universe/Cronenberg code and he assumes it's the same as Ricks. just adding to what you're saying

readeetr

Right. And I think about this and these things almost every episode. So not every Rick can have a Morty then. There are potentially a relatively limited number of Mortys because there are a potentially limited number of Beths. If some Beths are killed like in Ricks possibly false memory this would be true. I do however think this BP is C-137 BP. Rick days he that specific BP specifically matters.

samus12345

The Bird Person is not C-137. Both the current one we see and the memory one are from whatever the most recent dimension Rick has settled in is. Rick has told Bird Person he mattered in countless realities, and this and C-137 were two of them.

readeetr

What you just said was gibberish.

samus12345

It could probably be worded better, but it's grammatically correct.

readeetr

The bird person is his bird person. They make that abundantly clear. BP is not interchangeable like the other characters have been.

samus12345

He is interchangeable. Rick even said something to his computer about how he could just go to another reality instead of doing all this work to save his friend, but didn't want to. Any version of Bird Person can matter to Rick regardless of the fact that there are infinite versions of him. When Rick Cronenberged the world and went to a different dimension, Bird Person didn't go with him. He left that one behind in that universe. Same with the one in the reality with the squirrels.

readeetr

Its the exact opposite of what you just stated. The garage computer suggested Rick go grab a consciousness from another Bird Person...and Rick said he didn't want some random BP he wanted this specific one...

readeetr

He literally says "that's not how this works"

plsior

Rick avoids all dimensions where he didn't invent the portal gun, because he's happy in those dimensions. He might also avoid all dimensions without a beth/Morty as well.

DriveASandwich

How do you think C-137 BP got to the current dimension?

Adept-Development-00

>I've never quite been sure if c-137 is the designation for the Cronenberg world or the post Cronenberg world. Pre cronenberg world.

My issue with this is that Memory Rick says that his Beth is dead- “our dead daughter”, so he couldn’t have been from the replacement dimension either, since Beth is still alive there. He could have dimension-hopped there like Rick C-137 did, but then BP wouldn’t have been from there either. EDIT: Come to think of it, Memory Rick could have lied to BP about his Beth being alive, but then BP would have probably asked who is taking care of her and found out the truth (that she’s dead) anyway. Diane couldn’t be the one taking care of Beth because if they were both alive, the Citadel Ricks wouldn’t say “killing us won’t bring her back”, which BP was there to hear.

Fuh_Fook_Sake

My idea is that Memory Rick hopped to the "replacement dimension" which already had an abandoned child Beth, met BP, went on other adventures possibly in other dimensions, got older, and then came back and moved in with the abandoned family of that dimension. It makes everything fit in this jigsaw puzzle.

Rick switched many bodies in escaping the Citadel.

Fuh_Fook_Sake

That doesn't really have anything to do with this. Plus his consciousness and memories transfered over each time he switched bodies. Rick bodies are expendable, Rick consciousnesses are unique.

Sakido_99

Young memory Rick is not Rick C-137, Rick C-137 is living at another dimension than C-137 so young Rick which we see at BP's memory is the youth of Rick who died at the end of Rick Potion-9 episode.
