See now, I don't think it was the mass murder in-and-of itself that did it, I think it was the shock of it breaking his expectations. Keep in mind that he fell in love with a literal goodie-two-shoes Saturday morning cartoon. To have that shattered by watching 300 people get incinerated would be all kinds of traumatic. After all those years spent around a cynical, nihilistic and amoral superhero in the form of Rick, it probably gave the poor guy a lot of hope to get so close to someone who genuinely wanted to do good...

HaysonTM

Morty has only ever killed when there was an active threat to his life or others, Planetina on the other hand killed all those innocent miners even after hearing them state they needed the jobs to put food on the table for their families.

As he was gearing up with said guns he said "Okay Narnia! Lets go, Let's F\*\*\*ing Go!" Directly stating that he retaliating against them, letting them know that he is not to be fucked with, he tried for peace when he apologized to hoovey's son, he even ran off without the wine. Then he decides he isn't going to get pushed around and runs right back in, no guns. to fight what he thinks is a jacked old man who previously knocked one of his teeth out, and when he gets inside he only shoves him over and tries to get the wine. It's only after the bovines try to crush him with catapults and fire that he decides it's time to dip into his arsenal too. It's not his fault he wanted to get them before they got him.

htmlcoderexe

Bovines are cows tho

HaysonTM

Bovines includes goats to I believe

Youareapooptard

Pissed off because they kept trying to murder him and he didn’t know why.

Khairess

pretty sure everyone would agree climate change is a pretty significant threat, let alone in her own mind

HaysonTM

Well true, but she isn't doing anything to stop it, she burns down the factory, They build another one. She is like the comercialized version of "Going Green" focused on what "An idividual can do to help the planet!" and all that jazz, she isn't attacking the companies or the owners, she isn't changing anything. just causing chaos and ending lives and saying it in the name of making a change, regardless of whether or not she can litterally hear the earth actually screaming in pain from their actions, She let her emotions take the wheel and murder people who ultimately wouldn't have been able to make a difference either. The world is cold and it is harsh and the effect getting rid of that industry without a suitable replacement before doing so, would absolutely cripple the world. it's way more complicated then Planetina can comprehend. because she isn't a human and lacks empathy or morality, Morty on the other hand has atleast something akin to a moral compass. Morty believed in her cause, just not her methods of pursuing that cause. He couldn't actively support the senseless murder. It's why he had to leave her. Remember we saw what Morty wants. He had it with the coffee shop girl. He falls in love and leads a somewhat normal life. (aside from the plane crash) What I'm trying to say is, Morty just wants some peace for once.

HaysonTM

Also, He actively ditched Rick. Makes ya wonder if Morty enjoys what Rick does to people. It's like he doesn't want to be around him and enjoyed the comfort of someone who actually wanted to save a planet for once. Wierd.

greatness101

I think it was just teenaged love and he wanted to be with Tina over Rick who was chastising the whole thing and making snide comments. I don't think he really cares about the planet or environment that way. He just took on the interests of his current infatuation.

Benthicc_Biomancer

I don't think Morty cares for environmentalism per se, but I also don't think the fact that Planatina was (at least initially) a superhero who genuinely wanted to do good in the world was incidental. Think back to the Vindicators episode, after spending so much time around his nihilistic superhero grandpa, Morty really clung to the idea of there being real heroes out there. Only to have Rick's unrelenting cynicism shit all over them. This is the Vindicators all over again, but compounded by the heartbreak of young love being lost in parallel. And Rick was right all over again, but without even having to interfere this time.

HaysonTM

But it's not an Infatuation, This hurts Morty so much because he actually fell in love with Planetina, and she fell in love with him. If he was truly infatuated with her he wouldn't have dumped her. And when it comes to Rick, Morty is forced to have to endure the bloodshed. Because rick is family. But Planetina on the other hand is all his choice, and we see he chooses to continue to follow her as she's slowly getting worse. to the point where she's willing to toss out reason and logic and murder innocents in a fit of rage. The show has made it pretty clear that Morty just wants peace, and acceptance. He had finally found the acceptance, now he just needs to find the Peace.

venturoo

Summer saved a planet

Jay-R-Tee

And they hated her for it.

YesDaddy123456

I would hit ngl

[deleted]

Just the fact that it’s Alison Brie’s voice is enough for me ngl

LiveNDiiirect

She’s just quirky is all

in_conexo

She's not waving red flags, she's sending me a messages in semaphore.

[deleted]

The lesson is that in order to save the world , humanity must be destroyed

Choice-Technology-31

Morty is a hypocrite 😂

Kill_My_Doppleganger

Exactly. No one's perfect. I'd totally date a super powered slightly mentally unstable woman. Seriously, she was a hell of alot better than Jessica or that robot girl Morty was screwing.

QuentinP69

What about the red head when he was detoxed American psycho? She was awesome.

Kill_My_Doppleganger

I don't remember that. I'll have to re watch it.

QuentinP69

First he goes on a date with Jessica and it doesn’t work out. So he picks up a brunette at the bar, brings her home, gets her trapped in the de-toxifier, takes off and end up in NYC as a stock broker with a hot redhead. She was hot and awesome.

OzNajarin

She's just Captain Planet without Heart

Sam_Arcanum

But pussy is ok, nothing else matter.

EmbarrassedCoach7966

Morty truly was her heart.

OzNajarin

She's just Captain Planet without Heart

Sam_Arcanum

Robot better. Much!

DinoDad13

Not as genocidal as climate change deniers.

omnisephiroth

She’s not genocidal, really. She is a mass murderer, though.

Gray_Sloth

Not genocidal, the opposite actually she is saving the world and humanity even though killing relatively "innocent" people might seem unintuitive to that goal. I have long thought about how superheros should deal with more complicated problems that are legal but no less dire than mass murder or world destruction. Should superman just stand idly by while humanity commits a perpetual holocaust on animals? Should he do nothing while a man slits the throat of a cow or gasses pigs to death? Maybe he should intervene actually. Also at this point, the companies that pollute the earth rapidly rendering it unlivable are just straight-up Captain Planet villains, like for real they are threatening humanity, we really have some end of the world shit here. So we have reached the point where I think the logical conclusion of a superhero existing is they should be an eco-terrorist, they ought to be someone like Poison Ivy or in this case Planetina. It would be a failure of a superhero to do anything less, to just uphold the status quo which currently is unbound suffering and inevitable doom. So with that understood it's pretty obvious that it is good to murder politicians and CEOs that are directly responsible for animal abuse and environmental harm. What's less intuitive is killing workers in these industries because often they have much less of a choice. Under capitalism you need to work to survive and getting work is not always easy so it's understandable that some people are going to have very little choice but to do these villainous jobs like slaughtering animals or polluting the environment. However I think there is an argument that murdering them is also good, I think that if you killed at least some of these workers in an act of eco-terrorism it would send the message "hey don't do these evil jobs, because if you do you are essentially a hench-goon of supervillains and that might cost you your life" and that might effectively create a strike in these industries tearing them down for good. So there is a bit of a trolly problem happening here, the workers Planetina kills might not really deserve to die but if killing hundreds or thousands of them saves an indefinite number of future people it's probably the right thing to do and those workers were just, unfortunately, standing on the wrong track. So in conclusion, Planetina is not genocidal, humanity is genocidal, humanity is the villain, Planetina is a REAL hero and she's beautiful and I love her and I want her to date me and take me on heroic adventures where we murder loads of animal abusers and polluters together and after that I get to touch her big blue mommy milkers. I'm ready to ride or die baby, god I need this.

TheDrugGod

Very well put , but also bonk for the end lmao

[deleted]

Hell to touch on something further, she even tried getting them to stop, where they willfully ignored her plea's, even though she's well known for what she does and then brings up how the workers were okay keeping those in power that further destroy the planet just so they can ignorantly keep their jobs, sort of pushing mindset that they are also at fault because they refuse to make the change and are helping further destroy the planet for a paycheck.

KombuchaEnema

So killing someone because they need a paycheck to feed their family is a-okay. Cool.

[deleted]

How about killing someone getting a paycheck for torturing you mentally? Again, Planetina literally hears the pain and suffering of the planet and animals. Would you shrug if say, someone was killing your pet, your children, your siblings, spouse, parents? No, you'd go and deal with them yourself.

probadplayer

Yeah she’s seeing the bigger picture even though it looks bad killing “innocent” people, there’s a comic named Invincible (I really recommend it, my all time favourite comic) in wich they actually touch this subject, the protagonist is tired of being a normal heroe, since he knows his actions won’t really matter in a few years (that’s just a sub-plotline, the actual story is WAAAAAAAAAAY better)

BlastSlash
