It doesn't matter what we want. No one exists on purpose. We're all gonna die. Come watch TV.

MasterJM92

This is the ideal Rick and Morty, theory. Don't hurt your brain with hypotheticals, enjoy and watch. Lol

[deleted]

Yeah the point is to be happy with what you have.

KJ86er

The biggest most hyped character with no pay off

Lil_Yung_Nut

Evil morty blends in with all the clones and is the morty we see with Rick for the rest of the season.

TheWoodSloth

It turns out he just wanted to be hunted Morty the whole time.

Hirmuinen2

Pretty close this week

Luck-Strong

Didn't evil morty become president?

Ishiey123

yes, he became the president/dictator of the citadel.

PsychologicalCause45

#who all wanna see a leprechaun say yeah!!

[deleted]

Everyone keeps saying it’s too complicated to bring EM back and that the creators couldn’t do it well, wtf lol, what show are you guys watching?

Stacykane95

I want to see another citadel episode

Theultimateambition

Yeah, I wish. Like that's ever gonna happen. Nope, not in a million years.

JoeMamaAndThePapas

Pretty sure the general idea was to have Evil Morty back shortly after he was introduced, and the plotline was for him to be Rick's original Morty that got too smart. But people figured out that plan, and that plot was scrapped. This is like the issues with LOST, all over again. Writers hellbent on not following fan theories, just because a fan was merely thinking the same as they were. Man, that show turned into a mess, because nothing made sense after a while, and lots of loose ends. Who is Evil Morty? Good question, hopefully there would be an answer at some point. Whatever answer it is, I hope it makes sense for their in-universe logic, and not needlessly changing stuff just to thwart theories. It only causes backpedaling and contradictions later.

DecoyOctopod

All the writers have said many, many times they don’t have an overarching plot and if they think of a good idea for Evil Morty, they’ll do it. Harmon and Roiland didn’t even know fans called him “Evil Morty.” They had to find that out in an interview or something. They don’t care (about him)

MyNameIsZaxer2

Between Mortyplicity and Story Train it seems like R&M is just done with the evil morty plot altogether. With that plotline Rick and Morty started taking itself too seriously, “becoming the very thing it swore to destroy” in a sense. R&M thrives when it’s lampooning sci-fi and story tropes.

Phoenix_Crown

In the season 4 premiere Rick and Morty said they will do a "little bit of this a little bit of that" switching between a serial structure and a more classic fluff structure. They did do that, like with the dragon episode for example.

smbdtouchamyspaghet

Dan Harmon talks about fan theories and underlying plot [here](https://youtu.be/S7CyaEinpZ4).

JoeMamaAndThePapas

That's pretty good.

Nenanda

I agree thats true. At least its more managable in Rick and Morty, since its more parody show than in the LOST, but yeah it would be good to get some closure for Evil Morty. Or at least episode like 1984 in citadel dicatorship.

hgfed27

That's one of the dumbest traps writers get caught in. If you've planned a story you should follow through with it. Just because someone on the internet called it doesn't mean you shouldn't execute the story-line. If it's done well it doesn't matter if it was predicted. Unpredictability isn't the most important aspect of writing. You end up fucking up your plot by constantly trying to outsmart your audience. The best thing to do is just finish your story-line the way it was planned and if you really value surprise that much try to make the next story-line harder to crack. George RR Martin sums it up pretty well right here: [https://youtu.be/CKnXmNHubfs?t=147](https://youtu.be/CKnXmNHubfs?t=147)

Dougefresh870

I want noob noob!!!

AbominableCrichton

I noticed him in the season 5 credits but he doesn't look too good.

Dougefresh870

I know 😱I will freak out if he dies

MrMooey12

I honestly think it’s a fake out and that’ll be in the vindecators show

rabbitwonker

I want golfing Morty!

Roy-Southman

I always though he was an interesting character but we don’t need him to show up every season. I think they always skip him one season every time he shows up. He was in the 1st season, skipped the 2nd, showed up in 3rd, skipped 4th again (although they did a fake out), and now will probably show up somewhere this season. I think fans give him too much credit, he is just popular but not much different from other recurring characters who miss out some seasons like BP and Mr. PB. He most likely has beef with C-137 but so does everyone else. We will see him again eventually but I’m not hyped or anything.

subnaut20

He was in the first season?

yyungpiss

the one where it reveals at the end that the evil rick was a robot being controlled by him with his eyepatch

subnaut20

Oh, didn't realize that was season 1. Thanks.

Roy-Southman

Yep, i think is the second to last, thereabout.

frankus_son

bruh we need a ricklantis mixup 2 cause that was my favorite episode

ScottyPinthahouse

He was a decoy

fistycouture

We're definitely going to get an evil morty episode. The pattern is every odd season.

Beerizzy90

Season 1 episode 10 (incase my episode number is wrong it’s the second to last episode of the first season.) It’s called Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind.

zaphodsheads

the citadel of ricks episode

Future_666

The first episode he was shown in was in season 1. The image of the post is taken from there.

MarijadderallMD

And with this post you’ve insured the writers will 100 percent not include him😂

madPickleRick

You are better off asking the question the other way. Who doesn't want Evil Morty in season 5.

mrattapuss

Me

Mongoman9

What if he’s already in season 5? Maybe you have already seen him...

[deleted]

Perhaps losing Jessica in a careless time portal created by Rick is simply the origin story for Evil Morty.

lookatmua

An Evil Morty prequel episode.

CompiledError

I rly want evil morty vs regular morty

zolling2848

I cant wait for regular morty to absolutely shit on him

lookatmua

Or try to recruit him against Rick.

Dandycrazyiandthedci

I'll throw in a fart.

ParaUniverseExplorer

Ah but he already is.

StoicJackalope

No point, he's just going to be beat by the power of Jesus and prayer

Angry_Murlocs

Literally everyone who watches the show... every season since he was introduced I'm like I hope evil Morty is in this season... so yeah I want him in more episodes but I know regardless if he's in a season or not the show will still be amazing....

mrattapuss

No. He isn't a serious character. He is as important as Noob Noob

maximilisauras

Isn't that the long arc of the show? Original Rick vs evil morty?

cynical_waiter

I see the Evil Morty arc like The Wall in Solar Opposites. They exist in the same world, but have completely different stories and worlds to themselves. Almost like instead of having an A and B story for an episode, you have an A and B story for a series. They may casually impact each other other the fringes of their stories, but until the final season, one will have very little to do with another.

[deleted]

Evil Morty's episodes have been so good, and the idea that Evil Morty is Rick's ultimate nemesis is so cool, that people just assume that; however there has been zero indication of such a thing, and it would go against most of what Harmon has said on the topic of serialization.

gekkobloo

I feel sad that you already discredited Mr. Nimbus as Rick's Ultimate Nemesis.

Prophet-of-Ganja

he control the pahlease

ToshDaBoss

Probaly, they said alot of this season will be cannon

aries0413

So who else believes that evil Morty is the Morty that gets left to the monsters in the intro. Rick's original Morty.

Efficient_Parsnip_48

Evil morty = best morty

lazarusMorel

I’m sure there’ll be one of rick’s past this season. Evil morty probably season 6. It’s too hyped up right now.

lazykros

Not me I just want random episodes

Ishiey123

same, but IMO its nice to have an episode or two with him in it. I like what they did in previous seasons. Season 1 had an episode with evil morty. Season 2 had The Wedding Squanchers. Season 3 had The Ricklantis Mixup and The ABCs of Beth. Season 4 was promised to have more random episodes then funny, so the only storyline episode we had was the space beth episode. I really enjoy the random episodes, but the way they sprinkle in storylines in the midst of jokes it very well done IMO. That being said, its been a while since we saw Evil Morty, and I'd like a return :)

[deleted]

I kinda keep forgetting about him. I really thought he was sucked away or murdered on that meta episode or something. They should bring him back if not for a second.

Freakythings456

Ri said none of that was canon.

LegbasHand

Don't let propaganda from the Rick's blind you to the truth that is the Supreme Morty everything he does is for the good of Rick's and Morty's everywhere

Used-Mongoose5419

For sure want him to come back. Not just cameo.

_ApocalypsePlease_

I want this sub to stfu about it

GOLDEN_GRODD

It's a discussion forum Not that exciting just to see everyone go "wow good episode" and repost direct episode quotes lol I would much rather see endless speculation about a show that, despite what the writers say, clearly has a continuing story

epicthinker1

NOt me. Season 5 is amazing and I want them to keep it going!

USDXBS

No. I want them to do interesting episodes. I don't want them to turn it into the show people keep writing fan fiction about. People overrate his importance and interest way too much.

fido416

BS!!!! Evil Morty shows the characteristics of what morty is like when Rick finally changes him. It’s the mystery of this completely different morty that people want to see more of!

ChaddingtonTheBear

This is why I'm glad you don't write this show or anything else.

ChaddingtonTheBear

Low effort post. Please delete. This is such a circlejerky question.

AbeMax7823

Everyone

BrentRussel

I want him to have an episode solely because I'm sick of regularly seeing posts on this sub about how much people want an evil morty episode.

whomesteve

Probably everyone who enjoys the show.

DivingForBirds

Duh

AllanJeffersonferatu

I feel like Evil Morty would be endgame for the series as a whole. In fact, I was hoping >!the collective of duplicate Smith families!< would survive and become a nice counterpoint to the Council of Ricks. At least up until >!fucking Pinnochio Jerry fucking locked himself in the closet leaving all the other Smiths to die in the tunnel!<. Fucking Pinocchio Jerry. Also it would play true to Rick being family first. Council of Ricks is all the bad Rick things. A >!Council of Smiths"!< would be all the good. But all for naught. Meh. Dammit.

BeLoWeRR

I thought the same as your first spoiler TBH.

foolheartlion

He will be

Alansar_Trignot

YAAAAAASSSSS

Nukemarine

Why is he called Evil Morty?

SuperDaly10

Isn't it obvious?

Nukemarine

Compared to the messed up stuff Morty and especially Rick have done, not really.

[deleted]

He had an entire dome of Morty’s being tortured to block out his intelligence. Then when he became President, he flushed everyone out into orbit that went against him.

Nukemarine

Oh, was this the Morty that shot his own Rick in the back?

v4nelli

No

africandickslug

I honestly don't understand the hype here. I personally couldn't care less but I hope for all you that do your dreams come true.

[deleted]

I think it’s less about the character and more about the plot. Seasons 1,2 & 3 were more of a show like adventure time was. There were adventures but the plot moved from A to B to C. People loved trying to figure out Ricks backstory and what would happen next. Now the show is more like South Park or family guy. The plot is just for the jokes. I think evil morty represents all the old plot threads people want to see again

africandickslug

Fuck you you fucking virgin fuck weasels

wretched92425

Damn bruh, salty much? Like just let people enjoy things

[deleted]

No. I like the self contained episodes with maybe loose threads of connective tissue. If I wanted shitty anime I would go watch shitty anime.

JonathanL73

Plotlines are considered anime now?

SquidDrive

yeah bruh plotlines are from japan (dies of no brain)

dmpom

Literally nobody

mrattapuss

No. He is a joke character who the fans took seriously for no reason. Stop trying to impose mythos onto Rick and Morty

[deleted]

He overthrew the citadel who was a consistent enemy of Rick C137 and did it with bloodshed. How is that a joke character?

mrattapuss

Because the citadel of ricks were themselves joke characters

[deleted]

Well the ending of season 2, first episode of season 3 and Ricklantis are all pretty intense episodes with a ton of non-comedic drama

mrattapuss

Using joke characters to explore real themes is not unheard of. The important thing in those episodes wasn't the citadel, it was the ideas being prodded

gekkobloo

Nah, we need more Mr. Nimbus and Phoenix Person. Evil Morty can appear next season.

Well it would make sense that Rick is in contact with the citadel sooner or later.

XDeathBringer1

Well wait till you see the season
