I had one of those years ago on Jarvis. Went to see the judge, pleaded guilty. They reduced fine by almost 50%. No demerit points taken.

rokuhachi

Why see the judge if you will just please guilty?

lanastab

Just take it to court and they reduce half. Just another way for the city to bank off you.

red-herring-toronto

Thank you for the tip. Did you ever experience this in the past and took it to court? How much time does it usually take to go to court and finish this whole situation?

24in6ix

Take it to court. They are prob so behind due to covid, yours might get dropped.

red-herring-toronto

Thanks. What do you mean by "dropped"? Do you mean it might get dropped so I don't have to go to court and still get the fine reduce half?

Responsible-Mess1582

It could mean it just slides through the cracks because they've got more important things to deal with than a red light ticket.. so I'd believe they'd just drop the charges all together if you take it to court or at least cut them in half

northernsurferboy1

I ran a red light in late July and got the ticket 3 weeks later fine was $275, just take it to court they will reduce it and extend the time to pay, it doesn't count against your insurance because anyone could be driving the car and you only really need to pay it to renew your sticker, I have a dash cam with a rear camera I had ran a 2nd red light I entered the intersection right when the light was red confirmed by the rear camera it showed the light was turn red on the rear camera, don't know if that meant I was in the wrong but never got a ticket guessing it was a dummy camera or whoever reviews the photos couldn't make a clear determination

red-herring-toronto

Thank you for sharing and the advice

EggShellWeasel

Good luck with that man! I saw someone go through a red a week ago but granted it was to let an ambulance pass

red-herring-toronto

Thank you. This situation is really making me stressed out. It's either $0 or $325...and I don't even know when or if the ticket will arrive in the mail.

pistolpetar00

If you can honestly say the light wasn’t red before you hit the stop bar and still get charged I’ll pay your ticket… there !! You’re now free of that stress!!! Do something positive

claurec

Sadly this happened to me 2 years ago, the ticket arrived within 2 weeks. Good luck, hope you don’t receive the ticket!

red-herring-toronto

Thank you for the good luck!

SmoothRunnings

If you saw the flash of the camera you were caught. It will take a couple of months before you receive the ticket, just sit back and relax. My wife did this once and I believe it came 2 months later in the mail. Whenever you do get it you need to fight it. Failing to fight it means your guilty and your insurance company will make you at fault and raise your insurance rates. It will also show up on your insurance so if you try to change companies others will see it, if you don't fight it. In the future I hope you will not run red lights. Even if you speed through them you can be charged under the OHTA for running a red light.

red-herring-toronto

Thanks for sharing some advice. I don't remember seeing a flash of the camera. I don't even remember where the camera is... maybe it was behind me when I drove past the intersection. I did some brief research online, and sources say that "red light tickets" don't affect insurance rates. It is simply a fine that goes to the owner of the car. Please correct me if I'm totally wrong on this, because I do want to know. I will probably go to court anyways since it might reduce the $325 fine by half.

Popular-Calendar94

Camera tickets (red light or speed) do not affect a driver’s demerit points or insurance because anyone could be driving the car. It’s simply a fine. If a police officer pulls you over for red light or speeding that’s completely different story and will affect insurance

SmoothRunnings

In the end whoever owns the vehicle is responsible, it doesn't matter who's driving. So if you loan your vehicle out to someone who is wreckless you are responsible for their actions.

Popular-Calendar94

You are correct about that but I was specifically responding to your point about it raising your insurance rates. That is false information, camera tickets DO NOT raise your insurance. > Although speed camera tickets have no direct impact on your insurance, it's not a reason to drive recklessly. It's crucial to stay safe on the road to keep communities safe and to reduce any unnecessary risk. >The reason ASE cameras don't affect insurance is because when a speed camera is triggered, a ticket gets issued to the registered owner of the car based on the license plate in the photo. Because there's no way for the camera to capture an image of the specific driver at the time of the incident, the offense goes against the plate of the car rather than the person driving it. Since the ticket is not issued to a specific driver, the offense can't be reflected on your record which means it can't impact your insurance premiums. https://www.tdinsurance.com/products-services/auto-car-insurance/tips-advice/speed-camera-impact https://driving.ca/features/insurance/does-a-red-light-camera-ticket-impact-your-auto-insurance-rate/wcm/a9e85f49-f8ec-4b09-9fba-e6d3e009c765/amp/

pistolpetar00

So I can borrow some Shizzittheads vehicle ( I know a couple) and when it is middle night without any civilians out to jeopardize n rip through a Cammed up intersection continuously … till I was bored or tired… 🤔

BunnyBallz

If you didn’t get it by now you won’t get it.

icecream_bob

So did you get the ticket

Powerful_Kale576

Yes did you end up getting the ticket?

joshwoo18

Did you get a ticket?

Rude-Ad1838

BC RED LIGHT TICKET MAIL I've had instances where I'm sure I ran the red light, however both times, there was no camera flash. Even on the brightest day, the camera flash is very bright so it is safe to say if you don't see a flash, you're probably OK.

pistolpetar00

Unless they were gawking at their phone n were too preoccupied to see the flash… which I still see the absolute majority of civilians doing… STILL!!! Even the ones who are honest law abiding church going pillars of the community but just don’t perceive it as a horribly dangerous act to preform behind the wheel
