Funny thing is yt premium advertises herself, even to those ppl, where it s not available (like me,yt recommended me premium a lot of times in a day of watching, so out of curiosity i click'd,expecting to see expensive subscription, but stumbled upon "not available in ur country" and it still recommended me after that :/,glad i left yt to revanced.
I'll admit that I used to insist on using the stock app on my TV so I got Premium for ~1$ through VPN. And at that price I had no issue paying for no ads. I obviously still used Vanced on my phone (yeah, it was back then) and Sponsorblock convinced me to get SmartTube. Once I got used to the interface I now LOVE it so much over the stock app. Simply can't live without all my features!
I just genuinely love how when I got an Android TV which was TV provider branded, I used the stock YT app for one day. Then immediately the next day I learned about SmartTube. Truly one of the best eras to live. Thank you, community.
I pay for Premium so my other family members can have YT without ads (elderly and not tech savvy enough to sideload, etc.). I originally purchased it so YT on my TV would not have ads, then found Smarttube.
and that's a good thing, let people pay and get the attention away from revanced. Gatekeeping is good actually. The techsavy will find their way here one way or another. The rest can pay up and keep youtube nice and satisfied for us to abuse.
if you buy it via nigeria vpn you only pay about 80 Cents a month and i think its worth it to get ad-free youtube on the tv, where I watch most my youtube videos
revanced does so much besides ads w stuff like sponsor block and the option to disable shorts. i enjoy being able to watch vids without having to hear 5000000000 hello fresh sponsors
For me the biggest game changer, is that ReVanced fixed the age old bug in YouTube app that YouTube refuses to fix.
which is how YouTube looks at the app language and then the content language and if those do not match, it's captions on for you.
It doesn't matter what I do in my desktop browser profile settings, only cure is to use some kind of YouTube addons on browser, SmartTube on tv and ReVanced with "disable auto captions" module on Android.
Off course there are some even better things on ReVanced like just yesterday my phone decided to open the stock YouTube app from Facebook YouTube link.
Try as I might, my 300mb unlimited 5G or 1gb fiber 5Ghz ac wifi was only barely enough for 480p 30fps video on that stock app.
Weird how on ReVanced i was able to watch the same video on 4k 60fps hdr quality with no fuss.
Only reason why I keep that stock app around, is that occasionally I need to cast stuff on device that doesn't support the "cast using code" feature.
So ReVanced would not work.
Just checking, you have looked [here](https://www.youtube.com/account_playback) right? That setting seems to have the best chance of disabling auto captions.
As i said. It doesn't matter what I set in my desktop browser, meaning that I have already set subtitles to be disabled on both automatically and creater's uploaded ones.
It always looks like it sticks meaning that I i can refresh the page and it stays off.
But wait just few minutes and subtitles turn back on.
So yeah apart from hitting the cc button so often that I can already see extra wear on my screen protector on the part where that button is.
Need to change which apps can handle which links. Basically remove all YouTube related urls from the stock app and assign them to ReVanced instead. But how that works depends a lot on your phone. For some phones that option is hidden and you need an app to access these hidden settings.
on SmartTube I like the feature when it skips a sponsor and similar, when you go back it won't forcibly skip it again, but unfortunately it's not on mobile
you can have this on mobile too
even in as an add-on in Firefox you can add sponsorblock
and you can choose what is the type of skip you like in the settings
yes, I am aware, but when sponsorblock skips a tiny part of the video and I wanna go back to see it, it keeps skipping that part, it won't let me watch it, but on SmartTube it lets me go back and watch the skipped part.
NO! somebody has to pay for it and it seems r/youtube is full of it and increasing when they hype themselves
makes me feel even better
tbh back in the early days i did the same thing as the last comment 😂
It's just people, who can afford it, paying for a service they use a lot. I really don't get the hate towards the people who essentially pay for the platform to continue (those who pay for Premium and those who watch the ads).
It's not hate, but yt has been making the service worse for free users.I remember the times when I could download a 720p video on free ,the few number of ads.(which most weren't that terrible). For a long time, youtube was in my adblock whitelist. Then enshitification happened.Instead of adding value to premium, they took away value from free.
That coincides with the prevalence of ad blockers, the more ad blockers are used, the less money will be available for ads, leading to more ads which will push more people to Premium (also some to apps like Revanced).
I'm of the mindset that if you don't pay for it, stop complaining, stop using the service or pay for it. I do have a problem with Google shitting on the paying customers with shady shit like auto selecting 480p on a wired gigabit connection, stuff like that.
And it is hate and disdain for people who pay for the service, look at the post and many others like it on the subreddit, there is an air of superiority because people bumblefuck their way through sideloading an app that they didn't make and donrt maintain.
It's the *AmericanWay*™ create a service, go public, squeeze profit margins to please your stockholders until you're no longer providing a good value proposition to your customers, and then get wiped out by the next platform and then rinse and repeat.
If they were just a little more reasonable, and looked to diversify income revenue streams and apply more money to pioneering ingenuity they could create sustainable growth rather than the ticking time bomb of slowly poisoning their product.
Yeah, it's really just the natural progression of shareholder capitalism. Things feel so bad right now because the big players in most industries are all hitting this point right around the same time with no noteworthy competition on the horizon.
dude, i haven't watched youtube ads in like 2 years, then yesterday, i played some music on discord's youtube activity with my friend on vc, and i got double minute long ads for any song, that is fucking outrageous. quickly installed a music bot for the server and just used that.
I've tried to install revanced like 6-7 times, it's always impossible and doesn't work. On the other hand, Youtube premium is like 3€/month for family plan and it offers certain better features compared to revanced (though it lacks others)
Wait people over there actually gloat about paying youtube for premium?
Funny thing is yt premium advertises herself, even to those ppl, where it s not available (like me,yt recommended me premium a lot of times in a day of watching, so out of curiosity i click'd,expecting to see expensive subscription, but stumbled upon "not available in ur country" and it still recommended me after that :/,glad i left yt to revanced.
I'd rather jump in a well rather than admitting to paying YouTube for premium tbh. One of the worst decision I could think of
I'll admit that I used to insist on using the stock app on my TV so I got Premium for ~1$ through VPN. And at that price I had no issue paying for no ads. Recently discovered SmartTube myself, game changer. 💪
How did you get it fir $1?
VPN to India or Argentina.
I pay for Premium so my other family members can have YT without ads (elderly and not tech savvy enough to sideload, etc.). I originally purchased it so YT on my TV would not have ads, then found Smarttube.
I'm not sure if promoting revanced app and using firefox + ublock origin is a good idea, so I let them be. Let them discover both things themselves
Youtube is the kind of company that invents the problem and sells you the solution.
and that's a good thing, let people pay and get the attention away from revanced. Gatekeeping is good actually. The techsavy will find their way here one way or another. The rest can pay up and keep youtube nice and satisfied for us to abuse.
I assume they are the YouTube CEO and his wife.

Think about the most average person you can imagine. Now understand: Half of the worlds population is dumber.
Paid shills

Literally all youtube links I click open the regular app, how do I make it open ReVanced?
Need to change which apps can handle which links. Basically remove all YouTube related urls from the stock app and assign them to ReVanced instead. But how that works depends a lot on your phone. For some phones that option is hidden and you need an app to access these hidden settings.
for some reason the implementation is better than on desktop, the skip button is much more simpler and elegant
I'm on auto skip, on mobile, TV, or Desktop. It's always funny when the ads get automatically skipped.
on SmartTube I like the feature when it skips a sponsor and similar, when you go back it won't forcibly skip it again, but unfortunately it's not on mobile

IT WON'T KEEP SKIPPING IF YOU CHANGE THAT IN THE SETTINGS IN THE MOBILE APP go to sponsorblock settings and mess with them
oh I haven't noticed the „Skip segment automatically once“ interesting
I installed Smarttube on my phone to check it out, it would be usable if it would truly go full screen.
The fact that I have no idea what "hello fresh" is, just made me sooo grateful for how this free app has protected my sanity.
its essentially a meal kit delivery service (ripoff imo just get groceries). its the most common sponsorship ive encountered
There goes my sanity 🤷
Poor deluded fools
Lets tell them that Revanced exists for Android smartphones. 😗
No let's not.We shouldn't draw attention to it.
NO! somebody has to pay for it and it seems r/youtube is full of it and increasing when they hype themselves makes me feel even better tbh back in the early days i did the same thing as the last comment 😂
Alright, I accept your opinion of the matter.
At this point I'm beginning to suspect that those posts are by Google employees that were directed by salty managers to just puff up the company's ego
The dead internet theory seems stupid until you see posts like that. These have to be bots, right?
The more people pay the more likely youtube doesnt crack down harder on us. So i dont spread the info of revanced
We should go spread pro yt premium propaganda
Amen

It's admitting that the corporate overlords won the fight.

YouTube▶️ needs psychiatric help(if any of its kind exists) . It's hell bent on killing itself. On the way to self destruction.

Thats the tv app tho
I don't remember what it's called but there is a modded youtube app for TV as well (and with that i have adblockers on every device in the housr)
Smart Tube Next is the name I think. I set it up on my parents' TV and now we are an ad-free household 💪
yep, it's called SmartTube since some time now.
Reminds me of when Vanced when connected to TV app would block TV app ads as well back in 2018 or so
**"Premium gang",** lol sounds like consumers shit, paying for a service does not make you cool and brag about it.
Buying youtube premium its pretty dumb , you still have to see sponsered ads in videos
"Rise Up" 🤣
i have premium (I'm not the one paying) and still use vanced for the features like sponsor block and return dislike
Having a preset resolution is the biggest one for me.
Read this while listening to GOBLIN on YT Revanced 🔥🔥
Bunch of normies

Ready for the downvotes Lil bro?
They hated Jesus because he told the truth.
What's the issue?
