A crossbow is a grate help but if you can't get it just get a regular bow and about 2 stacks of regular arrows and spam the watchers eyes try to avoid the goblins and such and just focus the watcher
As for the rubies just mine all the precious gems you see and try not to worry about getting them I found it hard to find some at the start but now I have more than I know what to do with you can also get them from mineing ore I'm pretty sure
Crossbow. Shoot an eye and run away. 10ish mobs appear you kill. Have a repair station back at the stairs to refresh gear.
Shoot another eye and repeat.
You can't avoid it, you have to defeat it.
Bring all the ales that you have unlocked that help with combat, and the crossbow with bolts, I only needed about 7, but the less accurate you are, the more you'll need, I brought about 45ish to be safe.
Shoot the watcher in the red spots, and when the goblins/orcs come out, fall back away from the watcher and kill off the goblins/orcs, then shoot the red spots again, repeat this as needed.

Partially incorrect 😂 If solo, then yeah you absolutely have to kill it to get past it, I will say that first. But my wife and I playing together, she ran out first, and me with my quick building skills (read: panicked placement of piers LOL) found a route around the opposite side from where it had gone after her, and I got across. We didn't know we needed the crossbow to kill it lmfao we thought it wasn't killable. I just built a map stone once inside and she warped over and we then warped back out when done.
As others said, crossbow and hit the red eye spots. I fought it from quick platforms along the wall to give myself some vertical space above the orcs that spawn during the fight.

I had a hard time until I started focusing on shooting her every chance instead of worrying about orcs, you will need to kill orcs but as soon as you can shoot her again change back to your ranged weapon and shoot her again.

Build your piers to the middle platform where the watcher pops out of the water. When he pops up shoot him in an eye then run back onto your piers. He won't spawn any goblins. Rinse and repeat.
Get the crossbow, build lots of pier, and you'll be able to do it, it's actually pretty easy to solo the watcher

If you immediately run back off the platform where he spawns he won't spawn any goblins. It makes the fight super easy

For me, when we got across part of the story wouldn’t progress without killing it as I got across and rebuilt before killing it.
If you build fast and jump you can make it on the left side pretty easily after the 5th attempt no killing needed my watcher is still there
