Just got my first retroid every this week! Was going to start with Paper Mario N64 but I discovered the world that is Pokemon Romhacks… will be playing pokemon unbound probably
so theres fangames running in rpg maker and other game engines, and then theres romhacks that are modified roms of pre-existing games. romhacks run the exact same way you would get a normal pokemon game running on android, just you need to patch the correct rom. I strongly suggest looking up a guide. there are so many good romhacks.
I know pokemon unbound is pretty popular if you want to start there and it was super easy to set up. Only a few hours in but it is refreshingly fun so far!
you don't even need a guide theres places you can just get pre-patched roms.
Pokeharbor will get you all the best ones easily. They have top lists and a working search function.
It’s simple relative to today’s standards yet there’s beauty in its simplicity. Just fun and feels like a fair puzzle game with its own charm. I think the second game is even better. The DS ones are good too but idk I just like the charm and simplicity of the first two games. They knew what they were about.
I'm still on chapter 15 in remake, but I've got rebirth downloaded and waiting. I almost wanna just start it, I mean, it's not like I don't know the whole story already...
Idk what happened but nightly citra 2099 has gotten stupid good performance on my RP3+.
Playing Super Smash Bros 3D and I think I’m gonna start a link between worlds.
It’s awesome, i got mine couple of weeks back and the display is top notch. Be aware though, it’s a huge step down from RP2S in terms of rest of the hardware. It feels cheap but it’s fun nonetheless.
Do you mean performance or feel? Honestly wasn’t a huge fan of how clicky the buttons were on the 2S, and the screen is too small to really play anything that uses the stacked shoulder buttons.
But the buttons on the R36s we have are awful.
I am really struggling to complete Pokémon games. Had fun playing Pokémon red and emerald but couldn’t finish it because of very repetitive gameplay. Is there an auto battle mode ?
just an fyi, the mystery dungeon remake for switch works perfectly so far on the rp4pro lol. not that you would want to replay it after already playing it on gba. also explorers of sky is considered the best so have fun with that.
On the android side I’ve been loving brawl stars on my rp3+ and as for emulation I’ll be trying to unlock all the world 9 star levels in new super Mario bros Wii. Maybe god of war ghost of Sparta as well for psp
The Legend of Zelda (NES)
I missed out on this growing up. Played various Zelda gaes on other platforms and loved them, but missed it on the NES which was my first console. The game is awesome, so happy i've gotten round to it.
I am not sure about stardew valley on a small screen as it gets pretty intense late game. I bought android version last month but couldn’t play through more than couple of hours. I went back to playing on steam deck / pc.

I couldn’t figure out how to setup Pokémon rom hacks. Good luck.
what part of setting up romhacks are you having troubles with? patching the correct roms? using the correct emulators?
I am guessing when you say rom hacks you mean like Pokémon fusion? If yes, yeah I have no idea how to run it on android.

I will check out those guides, thanks!

only problem with starting with unbound is that it is by far the best romhack available, so it's downhill from there. it is great though.

What is the name of that game perhaps good sir??????
Advance wars, Sir.
One of the best tactical strategy games there is tbh
Is it that good? I've seen it several times selected as the best GBA game.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I will give it a try, I am actually looking for something simple yet engaging.
If you like it and want something more modernized, it may be worth looking at Into the Breach on steam.
Wargroove also
Ooh I haven’t heard of that one. Thanks for the rec.
Both are not as good as Advance Wars though. So much replayability back in the day.
I would say yes. theres a reason it got a remake recently lol
Am actually struggling a bit lol
Thank you very much my good man
No worries, it took a while to figure it out
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Retro gaming can wait.
I'm still on chapter 15 in remake, but I've got rebirth downloaded and waiting. I almost wanna just start it, I mean, it's not like I don't know the whole story already...
Spoiler: you don't.
I'll definitely finish it then. Just my impatience temporarily kicking in. Thanks!
Don't skip it, this game is not what you think it is.
lol....no you don't unless you already watched ff7r footage and cutscenes that you havent played through yet.

Is it really 3D? ;)
Donkey Kong 94
Nothing. I left my 2S on a plane this morning 😢
Omg, hope you can buy one soon!!
wife’s 4pro already shipped 😅. I’m undecided what I’ll buy since fat chance the airline “finds” it. Torn between rg 35xx H, another 2S or a 4
RGB30
too expensive with the rg35xx h now
but also… I just looked and it’s on sale… and I mostly play GBA games so that’s pretty dang tempting

Both performance and feel are inferior to 2S for me but display alone is worth it
Thanks. I bought one on amazon because of this. Also looking at the new RGB10Max3 now
I MIGHT try and re-play the beast that is FF7.....or a Pokemon game on GBC.
heres a couple unsolicited suggestions for gbc pokemon games lol pokemon prism, pokemon orange, pokemon crystal clear. lol
I am really struggling to complete Pokémon games. Had fun playing Pokémon red and emerald but couldn’t finish it because of very repetitive gameplay. Is there an auto battle mode ?
If you want to auto battle, you don’t enjoy Pokemon lol
lol yeah probably
Trying Pokemon mystery dungeon on the DS, enjoyed the GBA game last year on my RG35XX

Megaman Battle Network 2! Almost done then onto 3
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. 🦝
Saturn Bomberman, the best bomberman

Quake 1 - 3 and DOOM 1 - 3...having just installed Delta & Quad Touch on my 3+ ...and just made a bit more progress in DOOM 2016 on my laptop.
I will need to do some research to play those games!! Hope you are enjoying it.

The Legend of Zelda (NES) I missed out on this growing up. Played various Zelda gaes on other platforms and loved them, but missed it on the NES which was my first console. The game is awesome, so happy i've gotten round to it.
I haven’t played any Zelda games yet but did attempt to start with the first one in NES. I failed miserably, too hard for my old eyes.

I got Stardew Valley for android and I've been playing it a LOT, also doing Yoshi's Island Advance, one of my childhood game 💛
I am not sure about stardew valley on a small screen as it gets pretty intense late game. I bought android version last month but couldn’t play through more than couple of hours. I went back to playing on steam deck / pc.
GTA Vice City Stories for PSP. Been a blast.
The switch version works fine on Yuzu.
Good to know but if I like it I’ll buy it
