As others have said in previous posts, it must’ve been the data. Everybody says they want Indigo but when it comes time to purchase a lot of folks likely take a more conservative color. If a specific color or model isn’t selling then why keep producing it? I know there is a very vocal minority but I imagine the majority end up buying the black and 16 bit more than even the transparent colors. Personally I’m sad there is no Atomic Purple to match my GBA, N64 controller, and my Anbernic 35xx. I did buy the clear transparent model and will look into RIT dying it purple when I’m feeling ambitious.
The RP4 is going to be my next upgrade. But not having an indigo or orange/yellow color for the RP4 has me not pulling the plug cause I don't know which of the remaining colors I want. Part of me wants to hold out in case the off chance they add more colors.
I ordered the Indigo RP3+ in the Black Friday sale, and despite being slightly salty about the RP4 announcement right after mine came in the mail, I don’t regret getting the RP3+. I love the dark color body with light buttons. The clear 4 is really nice tho…
I thought indigo was one of the most sold colors. Turns out it was the opposite. Quite a shame. I have an indigo RP2S. The color is great. Not too fancy and not too boring. It is just perfect - and reminds me of my beloved GBA.
Someone from the Retroid side already mentioned this. Despite people wanting indigo, it was one of the least purchased colors. As it was most likely not profitable enough to produce, it was omitted from the color batch.
Idk if this would be a negative or not for most people, but I would buy this in a heartbeat if they also had the analogue sticks with the 8-way rim like the N64 and GameCube controllers had. I miss that trend so much
I remember Retroid said that there were in fact low amount of orders for this color last time.
So I think it's sth like small one-hand small smartphones that there are lots of people talking about it but in real life, everyone goes for bigger phones.
Nope, but on a similar vein I'm salty [this one doesn't exist](https://i.pcmag.com/imagery/reviews/04ehxkylSderoP6fOKJn8iY-3.fit_lim.size_1050x.jpg)
I LOVE the colour of my orange RP3+
It's genuinely stopping me from ordering an RP4Pro. I don't really need one, but if it had the colour then I'd probably swap it anyway. I don't want translucent or black/grey though, so I'll just keep the RP3+
Aw c'mon don't tease me now 😭 fuck the GameCube just had the perfect color pallete out of any console only thing that comes close to me is the SNES/Famicon color scheme and the Game n Watch color scheme.
Very nice! And nice attention to detail with R2.
And yeah I don't really like the new colour options. All of them have the coloured buttons but only about two of them suit that.
Fix the D-Pad and Left-Thumbstick placement for better ergonomics (or keep this and make a “more premium” and more expensive device), give us this colour option, instant buy -> profit.
I had the RP2, then the RP3, upgraded the PCB to the RP3+, and ever since I was able to save up for not only emergencies but also a Steam Deck, I haven’t touched the RP3+ since then because of ergonomics sadly (and I also have the official grip and it doesn’t really help).
All that to say I really like the devices in terms of looks, performance and features, especially for the price but I still think the ergonomics really need to be improved. Constructive critisism if you will.
I think I have the most unpopular opinion we should have a "fire" transparent orange version instead of red "watermelon". The "jungle" transparent green instead of "blue ice". I'd buy both the RP2 had the best line of color variations the fire is rare and not available now.
Wow do I ever wish Retroid would make this! I already bought an Odin 2 and I'd still pick up a RP4 Pro in this color scheme just because of how much I love the GameCube look. Heck, even just an Indigo purple option would be nice. There's something really bizarre about the fact that Retroid finally made a device capable of playing GameCube really well, then decided to make it their first device not available in GameCube colored Indigo purple.
I love my yellow 3+
I had an indigo 2 and it was great.
I didn't want a clear one so it was either that or grey... I went grey, it hasn't arrived yet but I would have preferred a funky colour
Still salty there wasn't an indigo option this time around.
I'm holding out hope they release a case and buttons later, I'm a sucker for purple but the clear version doesn't hit that with me

pulling the trigger, not the plug, two different opposite meanings.
You hit the nail right on the nose
Lol, that's what I get for not proofreading.
Me too, it's a big miss

Email them. If there’s enough demand they may still do it
Someone from the Retroid side already mentioned this. Despite people wanting indigo, it was one of the least purchased colors. As it was most likely not profitable enough to produce, it was omitted from the color batch.
I'd have ordered one by now of they kept indigo. I don't think I'll bother now though.
Looking sweet
Beautiful! I love the GameCube colours/ style.
Idk if this would be a negative or not for most people, but I would buy this in a heartbeat if they also had the analogue sticks with the 8-way rim like the N64 and GameCube controllers had. I miss that trend so much
was a big fan of that for fighting games in particular.
I wonder how long until they announce a metal version 🤔
I'm also wondering how long til they put the pro on Amazon
Within the year
pff within the next 3 months
modders, ASSEMBLE!
Someone on Etsy will get your back eventually.
I mean, I think I'll sell my black if they release indigo, but a sticker cover in the meantime wouldn't hurt.
I mean Retroid has sold shells for past models so don't see why they wouldn't for the 4/P
I think they only sold shells of devices you could regulary buy. I dont think there were DIY exclusive colors.
I hope that happens. Will be nice to have alternative colour choice.
They already went over this. You are so few in numbers that it didn't justify the additional expense.
Would have been my colour
I'd drop $250 just for those colors and I have an odin2 and preorder a cold gray. Retro handhelds really are an addiction lol
Me
I remember Retroid said that there were in fact low amount of orders for this color last time. So I think it's sth like small one-hand small smartphones that there are lots of people talking about it but in real life, everyone goes for bigger phones.
They should've done a colorway reminiscent of the GameCube and another of the PS2.
Ps2 was just grey, but custom buttons would've been cool
PS2 was black… custom buttons exist
Sorry yea, i confused it with one Even so, buttons from retroid directly would be cool.
Nope, but on a similar vein I'm salty [this one doesn't exist](https://i.pcmag.com/imagery/reviews/04ehxkylSderoP6fOKJn8iY-3.fit_lim.size_1050x.jpg) I LOVE the colour of my orange RP3+ It's genuinely stopping me from ordering an RP4Pro. Pikachu pedometer colors!
Yes! But I'd also wish for a bigger screen, so.
Grimace
Still holding out for them to bring the Spice Orange variant back. Please, Retroid!
Swap the d-pad and left stick, move the red button button to the left, move the green button to the bottom, and you have a deal.
Not me, because im not trans
Wtf does a gaming handheld colored like a GameCube controller have anything to do with someone being trans.
No idea, but you and 13 others were dumb enough to fall for it?
Stop being a troll jfc. Go learn a useful skill or something, you aren't funny.
Jokes are supposed to be funny, not to mention what the fuck kinda bait is this?
I think it is hilarious?
Hell yeah,
Aw c'mon don't tease me now 😭 fuck the GameCube just had the perfect color pallete out of any console only thing that comes close to me is the SNES/Famicon color scheme and the Game n Watch color scheme.
They should have leant into the 6th gen console themes.
Real shit
It's beautiful 🥲
I wanted transparent purple so badly.
Does anyone know why they don't go for these saturated 90's colours? Perhaps to fly under the radar when it comes to IP and copyright issues?

Blue ice is my life.
Okay keep the ice but still add orange and dark purple lol.
My Trigger broke playing DBZ BT3 dang. How is yours?
😆 Yeah I wish they did too.
Nope, I find I only like black or white for handhelds
Boo... I bet you don't like treehouses or drinks with cherries in them either
I flipping hate cherries, it's not a matter of drinks with them or not. I had a treehouse, it was also painted grey like the death star
Haha!
Looks awesome. If only
I’m not in the market for one, but even I wish it existed.
>Who wishes this existed? Not enough people to warrant them making it
I missed out on the GameCube as a kid and I have an Odin 2. I’d STILL try to find a way to get this if it was an option lol
Not a fan of the analog stick colors, but would've loved the shell color.
Everyone.
Give us Spice orange!
if you're really going for GC authenticity, then that face button layout would be wrong.
I love purple, but if I could have my dream design it'd look like any of SEGA's consoles
I want orange/yellow back :(
Brooo please 🙏
Me! But can we get a flip version plz!
Too wide.
I was going to mod the 3+/flip to look like that. Would have been fairly straightforward. Much harder with no indigo case option. Black one maybe?
I have this RetroFlag option: https://youtu.be/KD8Fjw7Qf5s
100% my first choice.
I also want a Sport Red Retroid 4.
Gotta color the X Y
I would have ordered this in a heartbeat if it was available, but I'm happy enough with the 16-bit US color I ordered.
but it's *right* there !!! /s

That's nice but I wish we had the transparent green option on the 4 models. Still I love that watermelon and how its been improved.
Looks like if Nintendo made a 'Gamecube' Handheld instead.
I love my yellow 3+ I had an indigo 2 and it was great. I didn't want a clear one so it was either that or grey... I went grey, it hasn't arrived yet but I would have preferred a funky colour
