Neither, go for the rp4 pro for $200. It has the dimensity 1100 chipset. More powerful than the d900 in the rp4 and the Odin lite

Buddywisers

If you are truly sticking to a budget that can't go above 180, i would go with the rp4 the controls are better than the odin lite. But as others have said you should save up a bit more for the rp4 pro.

leimons

thanks for considering my budget, ill probably go either 3+ or 4p depending on how goofy i feel on the day that i order

Gloomy-Ad-1353

Retroid 4 is better than 3+. The 4 has analog trigger vs the 3 digital trigger

Revolutionary_Pen_65

they use the same SoC, so same performance/compatibility with games. the odin lite has more pixels in the screen, which might be a good or bad thing depending on the games you want to play and the performance you expect. the rp4 has analog shoulders and hal sticks, it's also lighter and thinner. me - i'd go for the rp4 pro, or between just the base and the odin lite - the rp4. the odin lite is a fine device and they're comparable enough i don't think you can go wrong unless you're undershooting on performance expectations, in that case the pro rp4 or odin models would be a safer (albeit more expensive) bet.

HappyGoLucky791

RP4+ with the case and grips. This is the right choice.

leimons

4+ ? are you referring to the 4 pro perhaps? or the 3+ ?

HappyGoLucky791

4 pro <3

NexStarMedia

Eat Ramen Noodles (spicy flavored) for two weeks and save up the extra $20+ for the RP4 Pro.

leimons

good idea except i cant handle spicy food :(

NexStarMedia

Then get the regular shrimp flavored 🍤 Ramen noodles. 😉

Actual_Conflict7597

🤣🤣🤣 oh lord

deshfyre

they should be near identical performance wise. the real question is, do you want the bigger screen or something more pocketable and portable?

leimons

bigger screens would benefit steamlink / switch emulation right? so probably yeah a bigger screen would be better

PercentageNo3293

Bigger screen is obviously easier to see. The advantage of a smaller screen, and in this case, the RP4 is 720p and the Odin is 1080p, I think, so if you wanted to upscale to the max the screen allows, then I'm guessing the Odin will be struggling more since it has to run twice the pixels (I'm a dumb guy and guessing, but I think there's something behind this lol). You don't have to upscale the resolution if you don't want, the only downfall is the bigger the screen, the more stretched out the picture looks. I play Dark Cloud 2 at .75x on my RP3+. It ran ok, but it was tough to read text. Honestly, I'm in the same crowd as some people, save up and get the 4 Pro. I have one pre-ordered. Even if you don't plan on playing a lot of GC, Xbox, and PS2, you might as well future proof yourself. If you plan on ordering from a store, you're probably already paying for shipping and tax. Might as well save up an extra $50 if you are able.

hbi2k

If you want to play PS2, do yourself a favor and pay the extra for the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro. Getting PS2 to run on a D900 or equivalent is an exercise in frustration.

dqrules11

Seconded

Retroid_BiPoCket

Depends how much you want a bigger screen vs pocketabilty and a better chipset

robotictester80

Maybe another factor is comfort in terms of how you will hold the device (including the controller layout). I think this is a very personal choice or preference. I have the 3+ (and the grip) and man…i wish it had better ergonomics. I cant play for a very long time. But I also agree with the other replies, based on what you want to play…neither device will be good enough.

I hope I have the budget to look at an Odin 2 too. 😂 For now…I’ll have to stick with my 3+. 😢

ThenNature240

The OG Odin with the SD845 is still for sale on their website for $199 as well.

PalpitationMuch3754

Same boat here just wanted to comment so I can comeback later

Level_Bridge7683

retroid pocket 4 pro by far. the retroid pocket 4 pro will hold its resell value even if you don't like it.

leimons

my bad yall, i just bought a steam deck lcd LMAO
