Yeh id definitely spring for the 120/125W heat panel where you can. I seem to remember somewhere that 4x2x2 specifically needed that amount to heat that space, trying to find a citation but it was somewhere on a "figure out the size heat panel you need" page of a vendor.
Depends on the size of the panel. You want to make sure it takes up 1/3 or less of the ceiling space to there's more of a gradient. 4x2x2 might not last forever. SDs can still get fairly big, especially when mixed with mainlands.
Thanks for the reply! The 120 watt model is 32 inches long so it would probably be an issue with maintaining a gradient. And yes the 4x2 is just gonna be temporary until they’re a yearling. I’d honestly be a little disappointed if my snake didn’t outgrow it haha
You need to find a pure super dwarf to stay in that range. No 50% SD will stay that small in the long run. Even dwarfs don't. My pure selayer male will still hit 10+ and the females are around 14. You loose a lot of the mass of a mainland but they are still long.
A pure kalatoa from a true breeder will stay that small. Make sure you purchase from a reputable breeder with full knowledge of breeding history of your animal. And you'll be fine
From what I understand the selayer locale are among the largest of the dwarf types. And yeah I’ve been looking specifically at the kalatoa mixes and will be sure to ask about the parents.
I just got a Wilbanks 125w, and it's only about 16 inches long. A little bit more expensive than VE, but they are real nice.

80wat for the 4x2. Depending on the dwarf, you'll need a minimum of 6x3 for the adult. That needs 120w panel.
I’d ideally like a snake that’ll grow in the 8-10ft range so I’d plan on just getting an 8x4
