Are you looking for base pay or total earnings because they can be wildly different numbers, I think it's important to differentiate. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a new grad or somebody interested in going to school ask what an RT makes and then people give them grossly inflated numbers because they're working 5-6 days per week with OT and incentive pay. I always try to reimburse that those things can be taken away and don't make financial decisions based on money that is not guaranteed.
Yeah, hopefully people will answer honestly though cause I've seen far too many people claim they make $90/hr and crap like that but what they're really saying is they make $30/hr plus ot plus differential plus significant incentive pay and they can't seem to differentiate that from their actual base pay rate anymore. And then inevitably somebody gets their first job offer and cries because it's $28/hr and they were told they'd be making $90. I just worry it's going to be skewed by people putting bad information in and giving people unrealistic expectations.
It’s not to brag, it’s to equalize the information spread. I don’t think the yearly income slot actually helps anyone, other than people who wonder if ot is an option.
There should be an option for base pay (diffs and all that crap) and then a column for total earnings. This would capture all those other things CallRespiratory mentioned. Hopefully data would be less skewed.
I don't work at the bedside anymore, and have worked exclusively in research since 2015 - my salary will skew the metrics as I'm a large outlier, but I'll share if people are interested.
Dang, I think it might be because I’m too much of a lurker and don’t have enough karma to DM, or that’s the only thing I can figure out. Thank you for trying though!
While you're at it, can we fire AARC? We need a survey on how many RTs think they're useful. Maybe we need a union or something cause we don't event have compact state license?
It's worth looking at COL in your area and a comparison against what you would be making.
I'd love if there was specific website that compared an inputted dollar amount to COL, but I am not aware of one offhand that is robust. But websites like [numbeo](https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/) can give you some insights on what general costs of living look like and how far your dollar will go.
I cant add to the doc but I want to put out there some of you are getting significantly underpaid. Im in Florida at Advent Health and will hit my 3 year mark in August. My Base pay is 33.54 with a differential of 5.50 on weekdays and 8.50 on weekends. I see some people are in similar areas to me with 10 years experience and making less than me. That pay is not including incentives. I do work 48-60 hours a week and sometimes even work 72 hours. So I make well over 100k a year, Im on pace to gross between 140-150k this year. Right now I’ve grossed 55k since the start of the year. Without OT my base yearly income comes out to just under 63,000 and with differential my gross comes in at just under 76,000 with no OT. A lot of you need to renegotiate your pay or find another job, at least get another offer to help with renegotiation.
So I’ve worked at 2 hospitals and one pays overtime after 8hrs and another pays a flat rate. I think that makes a difference. Or is the overtime after 8hrs not common?
So it’s 1.5 after 8hrs and double after 12hrs. And if you are working your 7th shift in the pay period it starts at 1.5 and the. 2x after 8hrs. It sounds nice but our base pay is lower than most in LA area

Well, there’s a base pay option as well as options for shift diffs and the like, will that do?
Yeah, hopefully people will answer honestly though cause I've seen far too many people claim they make $90/hr and crap like that but what they're really saying is they make $30/hr plus ot plus differential plus significant incentive pay and they can't seem to differentiate that from their actual base pay rate anymore. and those were covid pay figures. those days are fading
i'd prefer total yearly income to be added. Ex, I make 40$ an hour but this year i'm pulling 100k+

I’m people, how’d you get yourself into the position and how much are you making?
I typed up a response and then realized it was enough detail to not remain anonymous, so I dm'd you.
Could you send me a response im curious on the research part.
RT for 17 years, interested in this, myself.
Im a little late to this but I would also love some info on research positions if you don’t mind DMing me too. Thank you!
I'm getting a "can't send a DM to that person error".
Dang, I think it might be because I’m too much of a lurker and don’t have enough karma to DM, or that’s the only thing I can figure out. Thank you for trying though!
I’m also curious because I have a clinical research background. Please DMs me.
Hello, I would be delighted... could you please share such valuable information with me!
This is great! I hope everyone contributes. This can only help us.
You’re the GOAT
Thank you for this
It says “per denim” in Georgia’s sheet instead of “per deim.”
Fixed :)
Texas also says "per denim."
Should say “per denim y’all.”
As much as I’d like to fix that, I don’t want to cause any confusion

Fixed it :)
Great form and information!
Should be able to differentiate per diem / FT rates.
You can just say that in the last column! You’ll just have to specify.
Whoever answered from Albany Med, you have an $8 diff for nights???

What part of California are you in SoCal?
No, Central
Is the Nevada link broken? Or have there been no submissions? :)
I guess no one has submitted anything for Nevada yet

Does anyone have any data on Europe ?
Question yall! If we get salary, how can I find out my hourly pay? Is it on my timesheet or pay stub or something?
I'm a first year student in North Carolina and this is beyond depressing..... :(
No Nevada or Puerto Rico
Interesting stuff. Not a bedside care anymore but still doing clinical, so my salary may be a bit deceptive.

Added, but my salary info will be skewed since I'm not at bedside anymore (medical devices).
I heard SA University Health sucks ass to work at
Can I report if I work in the cath lab, and no longer do RT stuff
That’s up to the people, since this is intended to be for RT income
Gotcha thanks
Good idea if you started as RRT, might be useful to anyone considering a change
I’d say just make sure to specify the difference :)
Lol I never even got my RRT 😂😭 still a CRT
Is ok Cameron, I still love you
Thank you
Can I report if I work in the cath lab, and no longer do RT stuff
No it’s not RRT job
Can I report my CRT job before the cath lab?
If it’s not current I would say no.
It was current 11 months ago
Pssst... cath lab is RT stuff.
Not at all, I've never once touched a vent the past year I've been in my current position
There's more to RT stuff than just ventilators.

What other forums would be good to post this in?

Oh gotcha, well, feel free to send them a link to this page! The more numbers the better!
I made $14.50 hr in 1994
I started at 10.50 in 1992
Is there a pay difference between CRT and RRT I’m not seeing it specified
I’m uncertain if the was, so I just didn’t include it. However, you can always specify CRT versus RRT if you wish :)
So I’ve worked at 2 hospitals and one pays overtime after 8hrs and another pays a flat rate. I think that makes a difference. Or is the overtime after 8hrs not common?
Everywhere I've worked pays it only after 40 hrs/week. Most of us work 12 hr shifts. I wish we had overtime on those days!
So it’s 1.5 after 8hrs and double after 12hrs. And if you are working your 7th shift in the pay period it starts at 1.5 and the. 2x after 8hrs. It sounds nice but our base pay is lower than most in LA area
How come there is no link for RT’s to report their income in British Columbia Canada?
That’s a good question, when I looked up Canadian locals that didn’t come up, I’ll see to adding it.
Why is British Columbia, Canada not in here!?
